Bruce or Martinez would both be great managers for us at this level. Jackett is a big risk, usually when he's had decent money for us he has wasted it (apart from Afobe).

Says it all that we publicly offered Julen Lopetugi the job, he turned us down for Spain and now were stuck with 2nd best Kenny Jackett. Hope the owners know what they are doing.

The guys who took over had Lopetgui or whatever he was called lined up, but when he accepted his other job we tried someone who was Sporting manager before (Silva or something) from what else we heard, with two targets gone it appears they are staying with Jackett, hopefully whilst they work something out. If they strengthen and Jackett doesn't get off to a good start he will be the first manager sacked.

I'm not concerned. His days are definitely numbered and he's only here because Plan A failed. It's a win win really. Either he somehow does really well, or he starts slowly and gets sacked.

This takeover is huge for the club and the city as a whole, it could move the whole place forward 30 years....

It'll be like being in Birmingham in the 90s.

Bit generous there Trev, wasn't long ago when we were published amongst the 5 worst cities to live in the world. Think we ranked somewhere between Baghdad and Mogadishu.

Proven at getting out of this division, yes, but doesn't strike me as much of an improvement.

Won't play any better looking football anyway.

What an odd time to announce it, there has been no noise or talk of Bruce in any capacity though. Earlier on today there was talk of Andreas Vias Boas, everyone laughed and thought it was more bollocks, however that was before the rumours that Talasca guy was actually signing gained pace. All the managers they have been linked with (Lopegui - Silva) have been continental and favoured a high pressing game.

I just don't fucking know anyone that they are linked with, I would say that as dyslexic who is predominantly typing on an iPad I'd be in favour of Bruce as can't spell any of these other fuckers names.

As for the replacement, I can't see it being anyone but Marco Silva, who stepped down as Olympiakos manager last month..

I hope Wolves do better than the last time they went down the "foreigner" route with Solbakken.

Most football fans know what happened in that 2012/13 season.

We got off to an okay start though with Solbakken, I can't help but wonder what would have happened if he had been allowed to clear house like Jackett did. It was when his players got injured the old ones revolted because they didn't understand what he wanted them to do and had been off on him since he was appointed because they had never heard of him, shows you what arseholes a lot of them were.

I'm not one for claiming to be ITK but I have received some information today that would suggest Bruce to Wolves is very much on

My source has proven to be as useful as some second rate ketchup :( glad I didn't lump money on this one.

I still think there was something in the Bruce link but as soon as Wolves started to be linked to all these foreign players it started to look less and less likely.

Always liked Zenga as a goalkeeper in the early 90's but I won't lie, I didn't even know he was in management. I assume he is another who is on Mendes' books? Will be interesting to see how things pan out for Wolves over the course of the new season

Thought I recognised the name - former Italy goalie from the late 80s/early 90s.

Now seems to be bald!

Been around a few clubs it seems without much success?

Not really sure what to make of this appointment, a bit uninspiring to be honest. Like MJA says I don't think anyone would have guessed this would be the man to replace Jackett...

That's the one - think back to Football Italia on Channel 4 in the good old days of football

There was absolutely no link to him. There was the guy who took the Spain job, Bruce (mainly through me ) and then late last night saw some links to the current Olympiakos manager but for this to happen so quickly after Jackett's dismissal obviously it has been worked on for a while so fair play to the owners for keeping it well under wraps

Honestly Wolves, Walter Zenga!

English coaching crisis right there. Why is he better than any half decent English coach? Foreign investment is killing us

Lopetugi was a goalkeeper too, says something about the play style the owners want to approach maybe.

Walter handing over the 'agent of the year' award to Mendes in 2012

Think this has been lined up for a while to be honest.

ah, I have to vomit first before I post :ffs:
When I first saw his picture on the Wolves Website I thought: "Hey, Uwe Rösler doesn't look good at the moment"...but shock, it's not Uwe.

Walter Zenga coaching Wolves? WTF. Couldn't stand this guy when he played in the 80's for Inter and this is definitely a big blow for me. Just one week before the season kicks off the thrill of anticipation decreased immensively.:bang:

Flip side for me is he was one of my heroes and the reason I started playing in net. Being on the bench for the Northamptonshire county district side once was sadly the pinnacle of my career.

Odd and unexpected, know nothing about him and just can't see it working but I couldn't see it working with KJ with the players we were getting, I appreciate he did a tremendous amount for us but some of the bollocks he pulled last year with selections, lineups and tactics has probably led to this.

Walter Zenga is an absolutely mental choice. I've just read his record and it seems like he's done one decent job in 15 and has been sacked more times than any manager in world football.

I was getting slightly worried about Wolves doing the business this season, however, this has ultimately put my mind at ease.

I agree it's he wasn't our first choice (I hadn't heard of him until this morning) but I wouldn't write us off just yet. Our owners seem to know what they're doing, and as Walkley said Sheff Wed fans were just as cautious when they appointed Carvalhal last year.

Still it's just another statement that says that Jorge Mendes seems to hold a lot of power over the club at the moment. Interesting, if not nervous times ahead.

Was fancied to take our job this summer for a while. Glad we went with Monk.
