I've noticed that we're playing at Crawley's 'Checkatrade.com Stadium', which even flanks our woeful attempt at altering the wonderfully named Field Mill to 'One Call Stadium'.

But what is people's Azteca Stadium of dreadful money-grabbing rehashes?.....Kitkat Crescent?

Probably the Emptyhad.

I mean, why draw attention to the problem?

The Wham Stadium?
Didn't Kidderminster or someone briefly play at the Bargain Booze Stadium.

I seem to remember the King Power Stadium was initially going to be called the Walker's Bowl when it was first built, but don't think it ever came to that, it was just called the Walker's Stadium when they sponsored it I think.

After our visit to Crawley, I now use Checkatrade for finding local recommended workman to do my DiY jobs around the house that are beyond me. Has worked for me!

Yeah, I thought of KitKat Crescent as soon as I saw the thread title. Worst shirt sponsor has to be Col U's "Easy Skip" (in a nice bright yellow splodge on the kit) from a few seasons back.

Dagenham when they had a ground name so long it needed half of the m25 just to cover the direction sign.

Just be thankful that the ground wasn't in wales where the signs are in 2 languages

:ds:We're playing at the Wham stadium this season - complete with wake me up before you go go playing at full time
In the past the Crown Ground has been called The Interlink Express Stadium, The Frazer Eagle Stadium and The Store First Stadium...

In Northern Irish Football, Carrick Rangers play at the "Belfast Loughshore Arena". Carrickfergus is about half an hour from Belfast.

Now this WHAM business Accy fans, what is it actually advertising: 80s pop music, the chewy sweet sensation with the fizzy twist, or the old Batman series from the 60s (some of you might need to ask your dad's about that one)?

Surely the Kit Kat Crescent was the best example of stadium sponsorship?

You people watch a different sport to me, I swear.

As for the worst, aren't Stevenage the Lamex? That's a proper lower-league sounding name.

Nobody's mentioned The Cherry Red Records Fans' Stadium, Kingsmeadow so I think we might have got away with it.

I've never seen the point of these, unless you subscribe to the idea that there is no such thing as bad publicity. Everyone knows that it's Bootham Crescent or the Crown Ground, does anyone actually call it the WHAM?

Iain MacNay the owner of Cherry Red Records got right pissed off with me at one game because I kept referring to the ground as Kingsmeadow.
Told him until he pays me a monthly fee, it will always be Kingsmeadow.

Fuck off with your corporate bollocks.

I did need to ask my dad to be honest :cool1:

The company who sponsor our ground are called Whatmore and it is a plastics company (www.whatmoreuk.com/) but they call themselves wham for short. Not a terribly interesting explanation I know...

Sports Direct Arena really annoys me. Considering St James' Park is quite a nice name for a ground and Sports Direct is a bit on the tacky side compared to say Emirates Airline. Le Coq Arena (Estonia) is one the funnier ones I've seen.

Always loved the League 2 offerings. Mostly just a single stand but: 'The Steve Smith & Sons General Builders, Plasterers and Maintenance "no job too small" Stand' :bg:

Ido wish people would refrain from using 'new' when referring to the stadium.
Plough Lane is not new the road has been called that since time in memorial.
The sponsors and corporate wankers can call it whatever they like.
To me and the majority of fans it wil only ever be plain old simple PLOUGH LANE.

Well we replaced the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham Stadium with the Chigwell Construction Stadium so we're a decent shout for this!

To normal people it'll always be Victoria Road though, obviously.

I still call it Kit Kat Crescent and I think that they don't even sponsor it any more.

What's this crap about Cherry Red? :told: That's the best named ground in all of the UK. This record label has put out some of the finest indie/punk/alternative records ever released.

I was referring to the Stadium not the road. Yes I do hope that the supporters call it Plough lane, I know I will.
My question was what corporate name will the try to stick it with, also Tottenham's ground I am sure will be "British Airway Stadium" or something a stupid.
The Rugby ground in Christchurch, built as Lancaster Park, had corporate names of Jade Stadium, then AMI stadium, well it got knackered in our earthquakes and the council built a new one 4 miles away and called that one AMI stadium. I still refer to is as Lancaster park, so Tom I am in full agreeance with you, I went to Kingsmeadow, not some name 4 foot long so someone can get their jollies seeing a company name on the wall, stand or anywhere else. Does having a name of a ground sell more records, chocolate bars, beds in an old peoples home or what ever ?
