Any that insist on away fans sitting in the seat that is on the ticket.
Not everyone who normally sit together can purchase their away tickets at the same time and spreading the singers throughout a stand is not good for the atmosphere.
Oxford and Cambridge from experience have enforced it.
Stevenage stewards said it on Saturday as we entered but didn't enforce it.

If you can find worse stewards than at Mansfield fair play to you.

It’s like trying to find the end of a rainbow

Depressing place Mansfield. Especially when a team full of Championship players somehow loses 6-1 to a newly promoted side.. (my only visit)

Ive heard this a lot about Mansfield stewards but I’ve been twice and both times they’ve been brilliant, let us stand all game both times with no bother whatsoever.

In fairness it seems to have died down which is good news.

I haven`t come across many bad stewards at other clubs, although I do object strongly to be frisked prior to goinginto grounds as I have done twice this season, once at Crewe which caused huge queues of people at the turnstiles and at Bury but as both these clubs live in the dark ages I`m hardly surprised. But I have come across some whoppers at Tranmere. We used to have one at our place who was obsessed with racism. The very mention of the word "black" in any sentence had him in state of near hysteria. He once threatened to have a guy arrested for asking the referee if he "had a blue shirt on under his black one". When several people told him not to be so stupid he promptly started screaming that fans are not allowed to say black. As you can imagine there was a lot of comments like "are we allowed to say yellow or red then because they are also skin colours ?" Funnily enough we never saw this guy again.

Remember one steward at the Reynolds Arena, (Darlington) who got so het up about something that he was sacked and seen handing in his yellow coat before being escorted out of the ground. Would love to know if anyone knows what all that was about?

We have been frisked at every ground this season including our own...we just get used to and expect it. Why shouldn't you?

Been to a number of away grounds over the years and don’t recall being routinely searched, which is why I was surprised when it happened at Crewe. Is it the norm for L2 sides now? Rovers don’t search home fans on entry, aside from checking bags and as far as I know the same is true for visiting supporters.

I have only missed one away game this season and cannot recall any that we haven't routinely been searched or at least 'patted down'. I wouldn't have thought that we have a particularly risky reputation. A lot of us are in the late fifty's and older demographic.

In one sense I feel sorry for stewards- not all away fans are angels. Turning up p*ssed or drugged up, insistent on doing the opposite of what a steward tells you etc etc. Wouldn't be a steward if you paid me.

Having said that, there are some stewards who seem to take great joy in inflicting difficulties and problems onto away fans.

Stevenage- full away end this season. Stewards stood in front of the whole away end (not sat down but stood) so no-one on the first row in the end away got to see anything but a bloody fluorescent jacket. Arrogant and argumentative bunch.

Bury- not awful towards away fans but utterly clueless and incompetent and "nothing to do with me, mate") attitude

However, the good ones makes up for it.

Yeovil, Morecambe, Northampton- engaging, proactive, thoughtful, helpful (Yeovil stewards even let a chap bring his dog onto the terrace rather than it sit in a freezing car during our away game in January).

Morecambe remain my favourite though and, assuming we go up, I'll miss that away day.

I know that they search away fans at Anfield.
Reason I know this is because my Brother in his infinite wisdom decided to try and take in both cannabis and cocaine when we played there (not the one we won 2-1 but the one we lost 3-0) and got arrested and spent the whole game in a police cell inside Anfield.

Which team has the worst stewards.

I will nominate Swindon Town. Absolute Neanderthals. About 15 years ago we played them at County Ground. I paid £20 to get in. The stewards then insisted in searching my bag ~~ fair enough. They then started unwrapping my silver-foil wrapped sandwiches. I protested and they told me I was being ejected (before I'd even got in). I sold my ticket to a sympathetic Chester fan and paid £15 to go in with the home supporters. I wrote a letter of complaint to the then chairman whose name escapes, but surprise surprise I got no answer. I would not go there again, although it's unlikely we'll play them again in the foreseeable future. Special mention also for Notts County stewards, who insisted on Chester fans sitting down and aggressively ejected a few who ignored them while all around the ground County fans were standing.
15 years is a long time. I've never had any problems with any of our stewards, unless they're just overly forceful with away fans but again haven't heard any negative reports from oppo fans.

Why did you sell your ticket to a fellow Chester fan who presumably already had a ticket is the most pressing issue here for me. Fobbing your own kind off for 25 sheets isn't on!

Forest Green on Saturday - no frisking. In fact, barely saw any coppers either (could have done with one on point duty). Everybody was most friendly and accommodating.

Including the opposition.

Ours used to be universally disliked by home and away fans alike. Accrington fans actually boycotted our ground for a couple of years after their first visit led to a fan being choked and chucked out.

I've personally had issues with the Notts ones, although looking back I was a bit merry and acting the jumped-up bellend at the time. Still felt they were a bit overzealous though.

Did anyone notice? :shifty:

I remember counting the fans once and it was less than the number of seats their flags covered.
