To counter the previous question about best team you've seen in the lower division, I thought I'd start a thread on who the worst team you've seen in each division were.

Prem - Derby 2007-08, 1 win in 38 games, 11 points all season, the worst top-flight team in history.
Championship - Blackpool 2014-15, In absolute disarray all season, barely could field a team on opening day, limped hopelessly to relegation.
League One - Stockport 2009-10, Absolutely pathetic season for financially beleaguered County which started their decline to the regional leagues. Still beat us 4-1 in the JPT though . If it wasn't for Carl Baker they'd have been even more embarrassing.
League Two - Darlington 2009-10, Without a shadow of a doubt, they were absolutely pathetic that season and narrowly beat Grimsby to this title by virtue of finishing bottom and hiring Steve Staunton.
Conference - Hyde 2013-14, Hopeless from start to finish.

Honourable mentions
Prem - Sunderland 2002-03 and 2005-06 for being almost as hopeless as Derby.
Championship - Stockport 2001-02, Carlton Palmer was manager, say no more. Wimbledon in 2003-04. Rotherham in 2004-05. Peterborough in 2009-10 were utterly out of their depth. Bristol City 2012-13 as they limped to relegation under Sean O'Driscoll were pathetic too.
League One - Rotherham 2006-07 but they still beat us 5-1! Swindon 2010-11, Charlie Austin spared them from further embarrassment. Hartlepool 2012-13 would have been a shoe-in if it wasn't for a second half recovery. Bury 2012-13 under Blackwell. Shrewsbury in 2013-14 were pathetic in front of goal. Yeovil 2014-15 under Gary Johnson at least.
League Two - Grimsby 2009-10 and Macclesfield 2011-12 for going 23 games without a win. Stockport 2010-11 for limping ever so lifelessly to a second successive relegation. Lincoln 2010-11 for being 10 points clear of trouble with a month of the season left and only picking up 2 points to see them relegated.
Conference - Stockport 2012-13 for somehow managing to get relegated to the Conference North. Telford 2012-13 were terrible as well!

Stockport in the season they dropped out of the league - they were hilariously bad that year. Yeovil last season were pretty shite too, as were Tranmere, Blackpool and (all things considered) Wigan.

Looking back a bit, Wimbledon when they first left London, Yeovil in the Championship and Portsmouth on their decline through the leagues never really looked like doing anything other than going down.

Additional ones that come to mind are us in Division 2 in 93/94, although the mitigating factor was that we had to put together a team in July after the majority of our promotion winning squad had been allowed to leave on free transfers,
Swindon that same season were well out of their depth in the Premiership and managed to concede 100 goals.
Doncaster Rovers were barely a functioning club when they exited the Football League in 97/98 and only won 3 league matches (I believe).

First season back in Division 4, 1970-71, Barrow finished bottom with 22 points (2 points for a win).

P46 W7 D8 L31 F51 A90 Goal Average 0.567 How many can remember how to calculate goal average?

Barrow were dire. Final nail in Don McEvoy's managerial career but Norman Bodell had started the rot in Div 3. 1969-70 30 points and 46 goals in 46 games.

Re-elected, we went down next season, despite finishing above Crewe and Stockport, joint with Northampton on 37 points but only scored 40 goals in 46 matches. Speedway, the A590 and Ronnie Radford's goal against Newcastle were the main factors but the club was on its last legs and the team reflected it.

Thank god I saw less and less of the decline as I'd skipped off to Uni at Reading at the start of 1970-71 season.

Cambridge Utd in 83/84 in Division 2 were pretty diabolical with a winless run of over 30 matches!

1983-86 was just a terrible period for Cambridge Utd, wasn't it?

I was 2 in 1984, fortunately I don't remember it too well!

Hyde were appalling in 2013/14. We were in shite form at the end of that season and even we put 7 past them in March or April.

Hyde in 2013/14 were absolutely shocking, but I believe Leigh RMI managed to get even less points?

Yes Id believe thats correct.

We were truly abysmal at many points last season but won all our games against the bottom 5 to keep us alive until welling on the penultimate weekend needing a win to stay up and only drew.
It says a lot that we almost had the same amount f points as goal difference! 45 points, -41 GD.

My Dad said Crewe in 1981-82 were the worst team he's ever seen, W6 D8 L32 finishing 24th.

Also Stoke's 17 point season in 1984-85 top flight. Before my time though.

Might make that one then considering Lincoln decided they don't want to play us on the 1st so we may not have a game!

Hyde, bless em.
Otherwise, the worst team I've seen would be us in League One, Two and the Conference. We've scraped the barrell something rotten up until the last two seasons!

I remember us winning 1-0 at Hyde, a respectable 550 made the trip from Mansfield, in a crowd of 739!

Corrected that for you. They may not have officially changed name until 2004 but they weren't chuffing Wimbledon! Sorry, had to be done :animatedf:

Bristol rovers 2013/14 decent budget but shit team . Depressing football , a manager in John ward ( still an absolute gentleman ) who looked like he didn't know which year it was , fans turning on each other culminating in being relegated on the final day against a Mansfield side that were half way to thomas Cook . All the shit on the pitch afterwards , the Mansfield fans couldn't even be bothered to take the piss we were so pathetic .

Quite liked Hyde. Scored two cracking long range goals at the Hive in our match - really top drawer strikes. Strange how they've plummeted like a stone since.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
The Carlisle side in 1992 was horrific it finished bottom, but survived as aldershot and Maidstone both went bust, butman it was a terrible side.

Worst ever is that Doncaster side, but to be honest it had a lot of crap behind it so I find it hard to attack that side it was never going to achieve anything.

I still always say 1999/2000 was the worst overall league L2 wise i've seen.....the champions Swansea were pretty much crap and the bottom 3 sides Carlisle, Chester and Shrewsbury were just utterly utterly awful.

We won 7 matches in a row that season and were top for quite a lot of it despite never being that convincing as a side. We relied a lot on Darren Currie's trickery and crossing and resolute defence to eventually get into the play-offs.

Mansfield Town since I've been supporting them, its been that bad i can't really recall anyone else being so bad other than Derby in the Prem haha

2001/02- Promoted
2002/03- Relegated
2003/04- Cheated in play off final
2004/05- 13th
2005/06- 16th
2006/07- 17th
2007/08- 23rd
2008/09- 12th Conference
2009/10- 9th Conference
2010/11- 12th Conference + lost at wembley
20011/12- 3rd Conference Lost to York in playoffs
20012/13 1st Promoted
2013/14- 11th League two
2014/15- 21st League two

2004 was the end of us. A fantastic combination of Haslam taking money from the club and palmer selling every decent player. Recent history has been great.

Darlington in 09/10 were the worst I can remember. Absolutely dreadful team. I remember playing them at home that year and although we only won 2-0, we must have had about 25 shots to their 0. It was like a training game.

Mansfield in 07/08 were shit on the final day when we played them but they'd already been relegated by that point so can't be too harsh on them.

Doncaster with only 20 points in 97/98 Div 3 (L2) deserve a special mention. IIRC, they didn't even have a sponsor on their shirt. 4 wins, 8 draws and a whopping 34 defeats. Scored 30 and conceded, get this, 113! A goal difference of -83!
