Carlisle are 100% the worst team in the league. And by some distance.
There’s absolutely not even a question mark over it in my mind. And worryingly we’ve continued to get worse as the season has gone on.
The gulf in class between us and Exeter yesterday was alarming.
Saw this on X last night.

This is shameful, and clear undeniable evidence that Carlisle are the worst team in League 1 this season, if not in League 1 history.
Surprised there is no Reading option.
No better than us if you take into account both games.
Anyone voting Pompey for a laugh?
Even though we are not bottom yet Fleetwood are?
We are always the worst team in the league in your mind, even when we won the play offs.
I agree, I think with signings like Armstrong and Neal we’ll have a half decent chance of challenging to come back up next season.Boring.
What did you expect Carlisle fans? You were lucky to go up last season, definitely the weakest of the 4 promoted teams, so it's no surprise you're one of the weaker teams in the league.
If you go down you'll likely come back up relatively soon with your new ownership.
We’ve had games where we truly are the worst team in the league (x2 v Orient, plus Northampton) but we have had games where we look very good for the whole match (Pompey, Oxford & Charlton). Poor Carlisle it seems are relentlessly poor, although Exeter pushed them close recently. As people say it’s a poor quality league this year from top to bottom, possibly excluding Bolton and Barnsley.
Bolton looked really good first half against us first half but were pretty poor in the second. Same with Barnsley...once we started going at them, they panicked. Difference with those at the top is their squad depth is way better, so injuries don't have a hugely detrimental effect. They can also consistently grind out scabby wins, even when not being that good. We’ve had games where we truly are the worst team in the league (x2 v Orient, plus Northampton) but we have had games where we look very good for the whole match (Pompey, Oxford & Charlton). I think 2 or 3 of the top 6 have the clout....I think they'd have to radically improve their squads and I think that would take more than 2 transfer windows, by which time they could be relegated again.I’d think most of the current Top 6 could strengthen enough to survive if they went up - maybe not Posh (and def not St. Evenage if you extend it to Top 7).
Plus the Championship is ridiculous for basket case clubs spunking the cash and then getting slapped with penalties - I think there’s usually at least one.
So most likely you only really have to be better than two (rather than three) teams, especially if the wrongdoer gets slapped with a transfer embargo on top of the points deduction.
To be fair we are on a bit of rubbish run of form at the moment. Speak to Northampton or Shrewsbury fans we extremely good against both. Apart from 2 efforts Bolton hardly had anything against us. If we took one of our chances in the first half against you I think we'd have gone on to win comfortably. Same with us v Stevenage, Kamara had a one on one which would have made it 2-0 in the first 20 mins, again we'd have more than likely gone on to win more comfortably. When we are good we've dominated teams to death.I maintain that I've seen one really good team this season in Bolton and that's it. Pompey weren't bad on Saturday, but not a patch on last season's top 6. It's hard to judge Peterborough properly because we were down to 10 men from stupidly early and then fell to bits in the last 20 mins.
I never saw Derby, but I don't think they were very good at the time by their own fans' admission.
Obviously, I'm only going on the games I've seen myself which have been those games against Cheltenham, so to judge a team on one performance isn't really fair. The worst team I saw though (aside from Cheltenham in the first 11 games of the season - well, 8 or 9, we played well against Portsmouth and Barnsley) were probably Cambridge, who just didn't turn up at all when we played them at Whaddon Road.
Correct, we've actually had a good upturn in from after 3 months without a win in the league and won 3, Drew 2 and Lost 2 in 7 however if we lose tomorrow we would be only 1 more point clear of the bottom 4 than the start of the run which shows that the 21st spot has jumped up points wise well above the normal expected form which is usually around 1 point per game. It’s a silly thread because it’s so only half way and all of us will have seen many seasons where fortunes change completely for a few teams in the second half of the season.
There will almost certainly be one if not more of the bottom 5-6 sides have a big upturn in form and may rise up table.
There will almost certainly be one of the current top 6-7 sides have a poor change in form and drop out of promotion picture (or drop from automatic to play off picture)
And within the midcard there will be a late charge from someone to the top 6 and one maybe more of the sides will plummet and either go down or just scrape survival.
Surprised there is no Reading option.

Ummm....I might as we have taken 4 points off them, more than any other team on there (although we have only played them and Wycombe twice.
Wycombe did the double over us so theyll probably say we should be on that list

To be honest the only team that fitted that were Cheltenham in the Pisspot trophy, but they looked much better in the league under DC.Nah. You looked shit but no more or no less than the glut of mediocrity clogging up this division.
To be honest, I think Carlisle are the only team I’ve seen in the drop spots, and I wouldn’t even say they looked like relegation certs, just a bit inept.
To me, a true “worst team in the division” contender should display a potent (or rather impotent?) combo from the following:
I think most teams in this league could tick off a few of these, but the more apply, the worse it gets.
- Can’t string two passes together
- Can’t put in a decent cross
- No pacey players to scare the defence
- Toothless up front - so on the rare occasions a chance is created, it’s wasted
- Powderpuff and easily bullied off the ball
- Leaky defence
- No bite in the midfield to cover the defence
- Nervous goalie
- Heads drop the minute things go wrong
- Fans have no faith in the team and grumble the minute things go wrong
