This is sort've for any lower league fans really who probably wouldn't expect to experience either.

And for this question try and remove the financial aspect of it as we all know a top flight season would be 100 times more benefit to any of our clubs financially.

I just mean experience wise here, if you were able to get a choice of either.

A season in the top flight

or

your side in the FA Cup final

Which would you pick and why?

Probably a season in the top flight, just to say we were once there. I think if it was that or winning the FA Cup, it would be the cup any day of the week but to have 38 games against the best in the county would be great.

If we're guaranteed to win the FA Cup then that option. In fact, if it's just one top flight season, it's still the FA Cup that'd be the better of the two.

As said above, I'd take a cup win over a season in the top flight but losing in the cup final would be largely depressing (as it'd likely be a heavy defeat) so would take the season in the top flight instead then.

I'd need the guaranteed win to be satisfied.

I cannot put in guaranteed to win, just that you'd perform and that your one season wouldn't 'be a Derby County'

I only asked as I think I'd rather FA Cup final, I know as such my Dad will always remember our top flight season from 1974, but I just think my personal experience would get soured by all the other things thesedays.

I know argument here is FA Cup has all the same clap-trap, but its a one day thing

one thing to favour league would be that for just that season you don't have the armchair kn*bs slagging off your club

Id take the cup final personally. I like being able to roll up at 2.30 and still get tickets for my mates if they decide to come to a game. I like knowing that I wont have to travel to games on monday nights/sundays reguarly. I like not having loads of foreigners (in a non racist way) taking up space with their bloody selfie sticks!

As much as it is tinpot, there is a difference with fans of teams outside the top flight, a positive difference IMO and I would rather that shot at lasting glory than one season likely ending in relegation.

If we had a season in the top flight we'd still have to endure the home-based swathes of Manu and Liverpool 'fans' telling us that we're shite and how we're a disgrace to the Premier League.
The contentious twats would probably purposely pack out the pubs and cheer from the rafters when we lose the televised Monday night away game at Swansea.

Yep, FA cup for me. I don't even watch the Premiership on TV, I just have no interest in what it's become, but I'll watch the FA cup final. A season in the Championship might be a different proposition, though.

A season in the top flight. The financial rewards are huge even if you go straight back down.

tut tut HG I said you had to remove the financial aspect as it makes it an obvious choice.

I mean as an experience, whether you'd rather see Carlisle play the top flight or play in an FA Cup final.

I wonder which them 5,000 Swansea fans who used to watch in L2 enjoyed most....the premiership seasons or that League Cup win, be interesting to know.

Season in the top flight - much more fun to be had, although it wouldn't go down as famously in History as an FA Cup win.

I didn't read it :D

I think if we got into the top flight we'd have to be a decent team, but it's possible for a league 2/1 team to get to a cup final. Chances are like Bradford did we'd get humiliated by a prem team in the cup final, but in the top flight even if we came straight down we'd have a more competitive team and chances are there'd be the odd match where we'd do over some big team. All the yoyo teams like Burnley and Blackpool have had these games.

Cup final, hypothetically if we were given a season in the Prem in the near future we wouldn't be able to play in our own ground, and for me that wouldn't be worth it.

Love the FA Cup and the fact we're utter cack in it almost every year really frustrates me.

So, is our team the same then? Because we'd get fucked and set records for points totals and that wouldn't be fun - whereas at least an FA Cup final you'd have a puncher's chance.

If it was theoretically a Burnley-type season where your squad isn't quite good enough but you don't disgrace yourselves and pick up a few decent moments then I'd take the top flight season with away days at all the big clubs.

Yep it would Theoretically be say a Burnley type top flight season or a Hull FA Cup final............easiest way to compare.

its just which you would love to experience being as such a fan that probably won't get either without massive changes.

Having read the posts on here, both options sound terrifying.

Hartlepool can tell us what FA Cup glory is like this season as Bingham fires them through each round bagging a hat-trick.

I reckon they'll rest him in the early rounds.

Hartlepool fans need not respond to this - you'll have both options within the next 5 years after Bingham scores 80 goals a season.

Unless Real Madrid come calling after a season.

Cup Final for me, ideally beating Luton in the first round, Posh in the second round and Premiership clubs with a few replays en route to the final. Avoid Barrow in the semi finals - they get knocked out on pens by Everton.

Of course if we could swap our squad and manager with someone like Ajax or Bilbao for a season of premiership action, that might be an enjoyable experience.

I am surprised how many are picking FA cup over a top flight season, I thought I'd be the stubborn sod.

I expected afew would love to see their clubs at Old Trafford, Anfield, Stamford Bridge, etc, etc

How else do you get to Wembley but with a few WINNING trips to places like those?
