Would you rather experience one top flight season or an FA Cup final with your club

The good season that we had in the Championship was incredible and coming bottom the year after was worth it for that season alone. As the Championship is near enough like the top-flight as far as we're concerned, that first season was miles better than I imagine a day out at Wembley would be, FA Cup Final or otherwise.

Of course, the question isn't saying you can have that excellent season...

I suspect every nursing home around South West London is going to have at least one resident who sits rocking in the corner oblivious to the real world thinking they're actually at Wembley in the spring of 1988 watching that penalty save and that header drifting into the corner. Memories of the league wins at Old Trafford, Anfield, Stamford Bridge and all the other nose-tweaking we did will be gone well before then. Difficult to explain exactly why, because we were steady in the top flight for years and it was massive fun for most of it but I think maybe because ultimately that's what killed the club. The cost of staying there mounted as the real TV money arrived, the whole thing became impersonal, corporate and sterile and we were shafted every which way by chancers who could only see how much money could be made. I'd never want to go back there again.

iWomble... That is a fantastic post. Sums up my thoughts of the premiershite exactly
I honestly hope that we never reach that high again. I would have to seriously consider wether I would attend games in the premiershite, in its current guise.
The premiershite stinks. It stinks of greed and corruption, and I don't want my club to be any part of it.

I agree about The Premier League, not that it will ever happen but i'd hate to see Wycombe up there, all the fun and belonging would be taken away from us fans and we'd probably be faced with massive debts for years to come so no thanks i'll stick with yoyoing between Leagues 1&2 with the occaisional cup run.

I thought this until the very day we were promoted from the Championship and I agree with you again now.

Don't worry, Tom, we're not likely to get anywhere near it!

Reaching the League Cup final from League Two was great, there was an unbelievable buzz around the City. We may have got absolutely battered but the whole weekend was just one massive party in London. I thought this one off game was much better than the Premier League days, as something of this magnitude is highly unlikely to happen to clubs like ours in League One and League Two.

I felt the same when we lost 2-1 to Liverpool in The FA Cup Semi Final in 2001 and 5-1 on aggregate to chelsea in The League Cup Semi Final in 2006,doubt we'll hit those heights again in my lifetime so those games were special.
