love on the PS4 app that you can skip to beginning of each match, plus the defining moment of each match (or at least you could on the WCW PPV I watched)

Yeah you can on PS4 and laptop with any show I've watched so far. Such a good feature for skipping shite you're bored of.

Man, what's the oldest stuff you've been about to find on the network? Found an old Bruno Sammartino dinosaur of a match. He beat a dude after a scoop slam.

Yeah back then you could see guys win a match with a chop to the chest or something. Kind of ridiculous to watch it back now given some of the moves we see these days.

Announced they've passed 1 million subscribers. So yeah, so much for everyone cancelling and them getting nowhere near their target.

Convenient time to announce it, damage control?

I wouldn't say damage control, it's a legitimate achievement. It was something they'd announce anyway as soon as they hit it because 1 million was their target from the off.

Good to see them get 1 million i didnt expect it.

but the problem is will they still need 1 million in a years time.

that has been star war onlines biggest downfall, they got up to World of warcraft numbers at first then give it 6-12 months and half had left.

Star Wars Online? What do they upload, just the movies?

WWE should be fine (in theory) as they have so much back catalogue to upload that people shouldn't get bored. Add in the fact you're also getting new content and monthly PPV#s and the model should do well.

think he was talking about the star wars MMO

I think they will lose overall about 25% but this will fluctuate in peaks and troughs once they realise that they can spend half what Sky charge to watch the PPVS and you get so much more

I wonder what skys PPV take was for the Rumble?

That made me laugh at the game last night actually, after all the uproar and so on - WWE with a nicely timed 'weve passed 1 million' sign ups to the network..perfect timing. A proper 2 fingers up to the WWE viewing audience and a method of 'calming' those who are worried about the product. Like him or not, love him or hate him, Vince McMahon is one of the most business savvy men ever to walk planet earth.

Yeah... the fact is, for every person coming online and talking about how they've cancelled, there will be a shit ton more who will stay subscribed. For example... did anyone on 1FF actually cancel because of the rumble? I know I sure as hell don't intend on doing so at any point soon.

Yeah, but to be fair... Star Wars Online entered a market that is fucking owned and dominated by World of Warcraft. WWE Network is original, it's even had a lot of praise from places that couldn't give a shit about wrestling purely for its unique format.

My question would be on how long people are willing to pay for the whole back catalogue thing... because yes, while the library is VAST... it's not actually immune from being exhausted. Sure, we all love to go back and watch great matches like those between Triple H and The Rock, or from the attitude era, but there is actually a limit on how much interesting stuff there will be left to watch a year or so down the line...

It's kind of great though, because WWE are now in a position where they can't afford to half ass it... every PPV that they do in the future must be appetizing enough to make people want to stay subscribed. They can't afford to half ass it, or they'll lose people and they won't come back.

What i mean though guys is do WWE have a longer term plan in respect that this 1 million probably isn't going to grow a massive bit more (they have used their big markets to get this number) the chances are of course people will unsub after a while.

Is 1 million a must have all the time or can it afford longer term to drop, is it needing a million now because that will drop.

I reckon the main reason they may've hit 1 mil is that they've finally got it released in the UK. They may also not have registered any cancellations in their figures yet, or simply not counted them for PR purposes.

I've got it anyway, been excellent seeing some of the stuff on there. Straight off watched back to Summerslam 2000 for the first TLC as it had been an age since I'd seen it, still great.

May have to find some of the Raws though...

I've been watching quite a lot of stuff on this. And I've got to say, from watching some late 90's stuff... it's more violent than I remember! Some of those head shots with chairs are actually uncomfortable to watch by modern standards.

Yeah, I've actually caught a couple of Benoit matches where he takes proper blows to the head and that is really uncomfortable to watch.

the news the last few days makes me think they did have quite afew cancel the other day.

first the show a massive big positive announcement, then they offer an incentive to others to stay.

be interesting when the main results come out at the next financial quarter to see what impact it had.

Very nice bonus for you guys though.

It could be an incentive to stay.

Could also be that they want to entice people in with a free month, but also not piss off the people who have already signed up who would like a month free too.

yeah but the timing of all this, right after a big 'cancel network' protest is abit suspect.

I think the ideas good, but if I'd been WWE I'd been doing that in June time, most people who have network right now will keep it until after Mania because I know if I had it I'd be spending March-April on a Mania run-through.

Anybody who wants to watch Raws from the AE (and Smackdown) all in order, from 99-01 PM me and I'll send you the links. Be easier if you'v downloaded before but I'll use teamviewer to help anyone. It's truly worth it.

I am sorry but the Raws of 1998 are the ones to watch, not 1999 or 2000.

that period of Raws from May through to December

I disagree, maybe for the main event - but the entire programming is much better in 2000 and 2001 IMO. Early 99/98 feel 'amatuerish' to me still.

Rock and Austin were at their peak in 99-00 though. plus Jericho, Angle, Benoit, Guerrero, edge, Rey Mysterio were all developing into main eventers

Just watching a few of the Monday Night Wars episodes. Its scary how rotten WCW became. Like an old dog waiting to be put down.

I started watching some earlier Nitros as I remember the utter clusterfuck of later ones. The deterioration is stark.

But the crowds made it in 1998 Saddler, the crowds and the utter superb McMahon promo's.

i could sit through 1 1/2 hours of the sh*ttest, sh*t wrestling show just for that 20-30 minute McMahon segment. It is frightening just how superb he was on the mic back then in 1998

saying that to be honest just try and watch the September 28th 1998 raw........bland wrestling but probably the most action packed show they did.
