Do people from Coventry have an accent?

Yes, a fucking terrible one, just like the rest of the west midlands unless you're from a nice village in Warwickshire or something.

I'm fine with Brummie and black Country, but completely agree that the Coventry accent is awful.

I think I have a relatively mild South Manchester accent. Southerners immediately notice I'm Northern but struggle to pick exactly where I'm from. Admittedly this may be as much about their poor geography as the nuances of my accent.

My gf is from Norwich but she has a generic Southern accent (as do her best friends from school). I think there's a big urban/rural divide in East Anglia. Head 5 miles out of Norwich or Ipswich and everyone sounds like a country bumpkin with an Aussie twang. Jogging = Jargon? Okay...

Bromley born and bred, which is on the outskirts of South East London, so I guess I must have a London stroke North Kent accent

My wife's parents live very close to the centre of Ipswich but are born and bred in the town and have very strong Suffolk accents. Unfortunately I think the Suffolk accent is being pushed out by a bit more of an Essex twang in the larger towns.

Mine is strange. Only the English can tell that I sound French as the Welsh, Scottish and Irish think I sound English. Also funny that expats who have left England for a long time (10-20 years) reckon I have an English accent. It's kinda British Yorkshire (which is where the English part of my family is from) with a French intonation. Or something.

We don't have accents in Nottingham, not like those weird Sheffield wannabes up norf in notnumshur.

and yes, they're called cobs. Birds bakery 4 lyf.

Ayup youth.

Inner city Notts accents make you lot sound like rude boys to us from the sticks.

I've had to tone my accent down due to teaching in Asia and I don't reckon it'll ever recover its former glory, with any luck. Last time I went home me brother actually asked me what was wrong with me voice.

additional: cobs, of course
