Now that we’ve had 5 games in all comps, who do you think have been the best and worst signings of the current window?

For us it’s a real tough one as Nicky Law has been great plus Jonathan Forte already has a couple of goals. I’m probably most surprised at how well Aaron Martin has done as alot of Oxford fans said he was shit and one said he was the worst defender he’s ever seen, so I wasn’t expecting much! However, he’s been outstanding so far and is a big reason why we’ve only conceded 3 goals in 5.

Honourable mentions to Lee Martin and Tristan Abrahams who’ve done very well too but had less game time.

As for worst, that only leaves two which are defenders Jimmy Oates and Dara O’Shea but neither have played yet so would be unfair to pick them....

Best: Jerry Yates probably, of the players we've signed and who have gone into the starting line-up, he looks to have the most promise, though Gerrard is slowly (both literally and figuratively) showing himself to be a good signing.

Worst: Gary Miller hasn't had the best of starts, had a very poor first game and found himself dropped, but it's difficult really to call the worst, because if they made a poor first impression then at this stage they may have only played one game and there may be better to come.

Tough to say as some haven't featured but so far:

Best: Manny Oyeleke - Class act, when injured its noticable the difference in the overall team, a more complete Anthony Grant type player who can pass, tackle and has an engine.

Worst - Scott Quigley - Doesn't seem to be able to hold the ball up and doesnt seem to have any pace... pointless signing.

To early to be sure but Otis Khan at £100,000 is looking like a great bit of business. If we don’t get promoted I imagine he will be off for a lot more.

To be fair to Flitcroft it was clear in the summer he recruited well, he just needs to get them capable of winning games, drawing every week will not get a promotion.

Just looking down our squad list and really pleased to report that none of our new signings that have featured are really worthy of being labelled too negatively. We could focus on the FGR game, but then we'd basically be saying everyone.

Best though, I'd go with Welsh and Hessenthaler. It'll take a beefy and industrious midfield to overrun us with this pair in our lineup. If/when Whitehouse comes back he'll only add to that, too.

Best: Toss up between Liam Shephard, Lloyd James and Carl Winchester. All absolute class acts.

Worst: None so far, could be harsh and say someone who hasn't played yet, but that would be a bit pointless.

Happy with our summer business, definitely looking a stronger outfit so far.

Best - Enzio Boldewijn, one glorious goal already and a couple of assists, as well as putting 3/4 on a plate for our strikers to miss. Hemmings and Dennis look useful too, both opening their accounts last night.

Worst - any of the tiny CMs we didn't need! (not that any of them have played yet.)

Glad to hear Welsh is doing well, hope he stays fit.

Best: Ollie Banks.
Seemingly really suits the Tranmere environment, possible that a positive home support instead of the toxic one he received at Oldham is benefecial, or maybe the better facilities?

Worst: Paul Mullin
No idea how or why Swindon fans rated this guy, not even getting a look in because he does nothing on the training ground, likely to not even make the bench on Saturday.

Best: Jake Hessenthaler has been absolutely everywhere so far. Close between him and Welsh but based on what I've seen so far, Hess looks capable of running the show on his own.

Worst: Harsh as it's early days and I think all our signings will have a part to play but if I had to pick, I'd probably say Louis Robles as he is already far down the strikers pecking order.

Nobody rated Mullin that highly. He was just one of those run through brick wall players who had real energy.

Also had a decent start to last season but struggled to get in the team after that.

Too early to say, but Reggie Lambe looks cack. And since we only brought in the Lamb and Louis John during the summer (Taft doesn't really count right? He's not exactly what you'd call a new face), John wins the title of best summer signing though he's only started one league game, last night.

Best: There are several who have impresse already but i'd say Sessi D'Almeida. He's a beast in the middle of the park winning everything and covering every blade of grass. A crowd favourite lready.

Worst: None of our summer signings have disappointed yet, so no-one.

Reggie Lambe is not cack, I would say he is better than the average winger at this level.

Fair enough. Seems a really odd signing. None of our coaching team rate him so it’s a bit of a mystery who recommended the signing given he isn’t on buttons and we had to pay a small amount for him.

I always allow new signings plenty of time before slagging them off, and that's why I said 'looks' and not 'is'. The only player in our squad that I've completely written off is Liam O'Neil; he's played enough games by now to see that he doesn't offer anything at all to the side.

Re. Lambe, he hasn't impressed me at all so far, and is looking like he was brought in only as the cheaper alternative to Medy Elito. But I'm a patient fella so I'll give him more time to come good, like I do with all new signings.

Very weird to have a player arrive that nobody really wants. Maybe he was YouTube scouted.

How can you get a cheaper alternative to someone who would be bad value even if he were not paid at all?
Best signing? What is that?

Best: For me it's a toss-up between Ryan Broom and Alex Addai so far. Both impressed greatly against Col U in the cup and, if not for Scott Flinders, Broom would probably be player of the season so far.

Worst: Harsh as it may sound, it has to be Liam McAlinden. His signing just reeks of panic and the fact that Ben Tozer (defensive midfielder) was put on up front ahead of him last week basically sums up where he is in terms of pecking order. Has played a part in all 5 games and must have had about 3 or 4 shots in total so far.

Poor McAlinden. He just can’t seem to get going anywhere. Definitely a player there somewhere but he’s too lightweight and is obviously lacking confidence.

I have to agree, on the opening day against Crawley he just seemed like he would rather be anywhere else.

Against Carlisle last week he at least tried, but he just seems to be a few yards off the pace and there really is nothing to him.

Tbf to him he barely played for us from March onwards and didn’t go on trial at Chesterfield till some way into pre season so he’s short of match sharpness. Hopefully the new manager will give him a chance to prove himself.

Best....

Jordan Moore-Taylor - has sured up our defence, we looked pretty solid at the back with him partnering Joe Walsh and also with Baily Cargill and Mathieu Baudry in the wings, surely we have the best defence in the league....only 2 conceded in 5 games so far. Moore-Taylor is just a proper no-nonsense CB. Despite his height he seems to win every aerial duel and puts his body on the line every time.

Also both Ryan Watson and Jordan Houghton have both been great since joining. Watson was a bit of an unknown coming from Barnet. Scored a great goal for us against Charlton in the Carabao Cup and always looks dangerous going forward. Houghton seems a very calm, measured professional at only 22 and looks to be a natural replacement for Darren Potter who left us a couple of seasons ago and who left a bit of a void in midfield.

Worst....

No real stinkers or bad signings really, but certain players haven't really had a chance or shown what they are capable of. I can't really name anyone in all honesty.

Medy Elito was shite. He was so far off the pace of the game and went missing more often than Lord Lucan. He was able to do lovely little one touch passes which moved us precisely nowhere and he was able to pass he ball 10 yards with both feet. That’s it.

I do however agree that Lambe appears to be a poor buy so far.

Agree Banks has made a good start. If Johnny Smith could develop more staying power would also be a contender.

How do you know Mullin does nothing on the training ground, inside information? It’s far too early to write a player off and I hope the management aren’t being so negative with him.

Best: Manny Oyeleke. Keeping him fit could be the difference between 10th and 20th.
Worst: Brendon Daniels. Already loaned out to Altrincham - thought he could have been a wildcard off the bench but obviously didn't impress pre season.
