Of all the games I've personally been to over the years, Villa away in the League Cup semi takes some beating even though we eventually lost the game 2-1. Never celebrated a goal as much as Hanson's that night! The League Cup final was a great day, if just to see my team walk out at Wembley in a major final. I've blanked the actual game from my mind...

However, the following three were games I couldn't go to for various reasons and are definitely right up there:

i) The 4-2 win at Chelsea this season is quite possibly the best ever
ii) 3-2 win at Wolves on the final day to get promoted to the Premier League 98/99
iii) The 3-0 2nd leg play-off win at Blackpool in 95/96 after being 2-0 down from the 1st leg

That was a good day out to be fair
We kept being told that it was city fans in the away end, not Mansfield so how would you know?!

Don't even suggest that rovers fans were making it up, they've never been known to do that or exaggerate figures...:lac:;)

I should really say Coventry away in 1977 but can't really remember it although I was there. All I can remember is my dad and his mate were very happy and I was scared. I was only lickle! :emb:

Since we've been in the league (and games I've been to) -
1. 5-2 win at AFCW in L2, 2011-12
2. 2-1 win at Preston, 2012-13
3. 2-0 win at Sheffield United, 2012-13
4. 2-0 win at Posh, 2013-14
As a general good away day though, Bristol City. (I would have said just Bristol but getting to City involves several more nice pubs than Rovers)

Any away day in Torquay is good, the 5-2 win in October 2011 especially memorable.

Sadly, it looks as though I am going to lose most of my 'local' away games with City going up and Yeovil going down.

Unlikely to get Plymouth or Exeter next year, and Torquay and Rovers are off the radar for a year or two at least.

Which just leaves the Swine :dis:

Best away day to means the whole day - not just the game.

Weekend in Blackpool, drawing 0-0, winning promotion with that Scouse c*** McMahon in charge.

The mini bus trip up on the Friday, evening on the piss, more booze Saturday morning, crappy 90 minutes of hazy football, followed by karaoke and giving a group of Leeds fans a hand when things got a bit out of hand with another group of Blades fans.

Winning at Liverpool in the 93rd minute was class, but for a league game definitely the 5-0 in front of the Sky cameras at Birmingham a couple of years back. Think we'd failed to win any of our last 15 away games or something stupid and Birmingham had only lost twice in about a year at home. Battered them first half but squandered a stupid amount of chances, typical Barnsley. Then came out in the second half and duly scored 5 in about 20 minutes. Celebrated every goal as I would a last minute winner, seeing as I'd been at most of the previous 15 away games where we'd only scored a couple of goals let alone won any of them. Beating Posh 4-3 the previous season after being 3-0 up, then 3-3 was pretty good as well.

That isn't very hard if we're honest

Sunderland have still never forgiven us for that, for some reason you seem to get away with it though.

You ain't joking! I was working up there a couple of years ago for a month and they properly hate Coventry City, even now!

3-1 win at MK Dons last year. Those Maguire free kicks

Went to this last year with some Cov mates, great away day. Had a tenner on 1-3 at 28/1 too which paid for the day/night out and more. Remember Pressley was the man who could do no wrong back then...

Surely every one loves a trip to priestfield :2thumb::2thumb::2thumb:

Last year was shit, freezing January night, lost 1-0 in the last minute and the car broke down on the way back. Got home at 4:30am...

Wish I saved my money and watched it on TV like any other sane person.

Only just short of 400 posts :conf:

I think they regarded Jimmy Hill as the instigator of events on that day so you sort of just get away with your role in the events.

I had no idea they hated us till a few years back as I'm relatively young, I was quite honored that they cared so much.

West Ham away is a personal fave, gutted they're moving to that shitty Olympic Stadium.

Watford away is always decent too.

Not that many to choose from for us we normally dont even score in a big away game. But i suppose my best list would probably be a couple of wins at the sty, beating leeds 0-4 in our 1st visit there for many years and beating the geordies 0-1 in the premier league that was a great night. Also winning 0-1 at cardiff to pretty much seal promotion on good friday was enjoyable

Love White Hart Lane and we did pretty well there on the visits I've had.

Coming from 2-0 down at Stamford Bridge and netting a 94th minute leveller.

Coming from 2-0 down at Bramall Lane to rescue a point which proved pivotal come May that year.

Winning 3-2 at Leeds and battering em for 80-odd minutes.

Wins at Goodison and Anfield, winning at St James to top the Premier League.

Winning at Wembley against the Blades!

Southport? You tight gets.

It'll be funny as fuck though, if you turn the Lashers over, next season.

Don't speak too soon!

Sunday might be a bit of a shock to the system with a slightly weakened team, tough game.

County away in 07 for the promotion clinching victory. Great following, made a good noise, won the game, got promoted as Champions. County is probably my favourite away day as it goes in general. Acoustics make an away day IMO.

I like a trip to Nottingham as well, easy to get to (especially by train), and it's close by but there's no real rivalry with either club, there's great boozers & its just a good day out. County fans generally seem like a decent bunch so hopefully Notts can stop up.

Beating Sjoke (again) away in the last Potteries Derby with Micky Cummins pea roller of a header.

Villa away in the cup with 8000 Valiants there in 06 and taking Spurs to ET in the Carling Cup a few years back when leading until late on were class away days.

Overall one of the best has to be the massacre of Fleetwood in our promotion season though, them the heavily financed side expected to win promotion, us just coming out of administration and winning 5-2 there on a Tuesday night, awesome atmosphere in the away end and this days after battering the expensively assembled Rovrum 6-2. That was when I really believed we'd finally got a side who could win promotion and we did.

I don't think it was quite the massacre and wankfest that you're making it out to be. Just an open game of football where more of your efforts went in then ours. We actually had more shots on target.http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/19553949 But you keep on tugging away if it floats your boat

Irrelevant how many shots you had, we stuck em away. Point being after years of crap and nearly losing the club to play like that against the money men and come out 5-2 was a great night for those there.
