McCann stripped the squad then left so we had to find a manager who then had to get to know the players we had left so he could identify who he needed. The problem with that was it was only 2 weeks before the first game. Then Marquis left. We are at least 3 if not 4 players light especially upfront there are also rumours of Hull wanting our Captain. Keeping what’s left of our best players and filling the gaps in the squad before the window closes are our biggest problem at present.

Getting a NEW team every close season.

Getting a NEW manager most January's.

A gob sh*te twitterati chairman.

All successful businesses / teams are built on familiarity knowing each others strengths & weaknesses , changing things every 5 minutes won't get you no where , it's hardly rocket science !

Aye, changing things every 5 mins has worked once or twice in the greed league but at lower levels continuity is huge. No chance would we have got those 2 successive promotions without it. On the flipside, during our 2 consecutive relegations that got us in the mess, we went through 4 managers and had a new player in the team every week.

We don't have anywhere near enough goals in the team. Hiwula does ok but he's never going to get you more than 14 a season, and I don't think we have anyone else capable of getting more than 8.
Looks like we’ve gone some way to addressing this with the signing of Matt Godden. Just need a creative player in the mould of (or please just him) Bright Enobakhare.

I think the centre of defence and central midfield are our strongest areas.

IMO we are crying out for a decent defensive midfield player to break things up in front of our defence. The middle of the back four got no protection whatsoever against Rochdale. Maybe we are waiting for McCulloch who is now a free agent but training with us to get fit

I think we are waiting for McCulloch to get fit, but I thought a bigger problem against Rochdale was the formation and being outnumbered 3 against 2 in midfield.

I think we have got decent players in the middle of the pitch: Potter, Perkins, Banks and Gilmour would not look out of place in a lot of League One sides.

I’m in agreement with Reremnart about the need for a tackling midfielder to protect the back four and break play up. McCullough, should he ultimately sign up, is months away from being match fit, so a role someone else needed to fill.

RLC highlights that we have some reasonable quality in midfield. Surprising how little we’ve seen of Gilmour after signing him up on a permanent deal in January.

Think more cover is required at full-back too.

Gilmour has flitted in and out of the side as you would expect from a young player in his first twelve months in the professional game. Mellon has actually given him a lot of responsibility at times.

A tackling midfielder would not have prevented defeat on Saturday and our real challenge is adapting to a higher level and gelling as a team.

I wasn’t able to go, so hard to judge from just the highlights. It did seem that a natural full-back capable of lasting 90 minutes could have helped.
