Agree with most of the above, it was a pile of pony. Missed our goals first time around as they were in the wrong place.

Saw most of it in the pub, which was good because the sound was off. Only when I caught the repeat, did I realise how truly shite it was. Proves you really cannot polish a turd.

I'd love to know what some of these producers say in their team meetings. Football fans are simple creatures, show us the goals and some highlights in order and we're happy.

The sooner sky take this show over the better. Love Sky or hate them there is one thing, they know how to do sport.

Sky already have a highlights show, which is pretty good as it just shows the goals. This one is on terrestrial TV which is a good thing, but if they cut out the waffle and make it the same as the Sky one, then that would be great.

I hated the leagues being mixed up too, but I guess the reasoning is so that all of the Championship supporters don't just switch off half way through.

better or worse than Before?

Is this a serious question? Nobody bar the ar*e-covering Brainless Barwick could possibly claim that this utter drivel is not a billion times worse than than the FL show. Talk about a classic case of Be Careful What You Wish For.

I was never of the opinion that the FL show was as bad as the bandwagon claimed. Some of the comments when the shift in broadcaster was announced were truly idiotic - for example the anticipation over the length of the show. Did nobody notice that Channel 5 has adverts? The actual programme minus adverts is an hour and 5 minutes, which is much less content than the BBC showed.

The main problem with the FL show was the way the BBC treated it - pulling it when the PL wasn't playing and so on. However once they ditched their own Channel 5-esque gimmick - the ludicrous Lizzie - it was fine. I didn't even have too much of an issue with Claridge, given that no show was going to be perfect. On the other hand, apart from Kelly Cates I struggle to think of a single good thing about FLT.

- Two main presenters, talking over each other: poor idea. (Are they too scared to have a permanent solo woman presenter?)

- walking them all over the shop like an aborigine looking for water in the desert; bad idea

- A bunch of herberts in the studio:dreadful idea

- Flitting between divisions like a hyperactive jumping bean: idiotic idea.

- Utilising current managers (who will barely have had time to digest the results by 9PM, let alone watch the games and who are impossibly compromised in saying anything remotely controversial about current colleagues and rivals): dreadful idea.

- Revolving wooden boards, in true It's-A-Knockout stylee: an idea beyond cringeworthy in its awfulness.

Oh - and the music is painful to listen to as well.

I'm genuinely wincing at the prospect of having to watch this drivel again. I pray ECFC's highlights are at the beginning. Bring back the Football League Show, or at least ditch the Media Studies graduates in the production team and get some professionals in.

Highlights shows never get it perfectly straightaway

The Championship - On at a godawful time when most of us are in bed/playing Sunday League/in work. For the first few years Leagues 1 and 2 fans were short changed as they didn't show all the goals. It was an hour long including adverts and was the worst attempt of a highlights show I've ever seen. I saw someone on Twitter demand for it to come back, I suggest that person needs sectioning immediately.

The Football League Show - The best of them, a solid effort. When it first started, despite the useless emails section, it was brilliant. The Championship got slightly more coverage than the other two leagues but it was marginal and it looked like the Beeb made an incredible effort to start with. Then the Beeb started spending cuts and the process of alienating the fans of Leagues 1 and 2 clubs. Shows were no longer shown on international weekends, the Championship's race to the Premier League took up half the show, the arse-licking of Leicester was cringeworthy, the same pissing managers being interviewed every week (Nigel Pearson, Steve Evans, Eddie Howe etc) not to mention that wanker Manish patronising all those peasant clubs outside the Championship.

Football League Tonight - It needs serious tweaking, it's like a Soccer AM/Saturday Night Football lovechild that was starved of oxygen at birth. There's no need for two presenters, there's no need for a studio audience, there's no need for periscope gimmicks, awkward interviews with awkward managers like Martin Allen and there's no need for not going in divisional order. But the conspiracy theorist in me thinks the latter was devised purely to show Leagues 1 and 2 fans that they actually care about them but it might be clutching at straws. Give it the season, I'm sure significant changes will be made, and then we can all be happy...

Or not given that a Crawley fan on Twitter will probably moan about their 1-1 draw with Oxford having 15 seconds of highlights expecting at least 30 minutes of extended highlights and a full blown analysis on why they shouldn't play a 4-5-1 away from home and the latest on the Izale McLeod transfer situation. There's just no pleasing everybody!!!

Long story short to the producers at Channel 5: Less is more, less talk, more goals.

Spot the difference? The poor shows you quoted were on terrestrial commercial TV. In fact to describe the record of UK terrestrial commercial TV in football broadcasting as "chequered" is putting it mildly.

See the future with a BBC emasculated by the ideologically driven Tories and tremble.

I was willing to give it a go, but watched the first five and hated the format (I am in my 60s) and decided that this "show" is not for me.

But remember it was a completely different context. Besides, they still seem obsessed with having two presenters where one would do. Having both Cates and Virgo interviewing Paul Cook was another stupid idea that didn't work - Virgo should have stuck to the analysis.

On that note, can anybody say that he's better than Claridge? Talk about a personality bypass.

And AS YOU SAY, fellow 1FFers, Adam Virgo makes me pine for the punditry of Claridge and Rosenior.

Thoughts on week 2 so far? Better for me. Yeah, the audience is something we are going to have to get past I think, they are here to stay.

But they are moving at a reasonable pace, not too much talking from the pundits, leagues in order. So far, so good.

I didn't watch it last week, but from what i've seen so far tonight it's been ok, and it's on at a decent time too.

Better than last weeks, that wasn't difficult. Best thing to do is record it and then buzz through the adverts and waffling, get to see all the action in a short time then.

Much better this week. The flow of the programme was good and we actually had some footballing insight. It was funny that the tables were clearly on view throughout the programme - so if you had tried to avoid the scores there were some spoilers there. But then, on this day and age, who avoids the scores all day?

All in all...good progress Channel 5...improvement still to he made though...

Saw it for the first time last night, and thought it was pretty dreadful. I thought i'd gone deaf when Jamie Cureton was speaking, and Adam Virgo looked like a scared little lamb.

The audience look like they've never been to a game between them and the studio looks like Blue Peter circa 1985.

Anyone who wants to see League One highlights should just hop between official club youtube channels from Sunday afternoon onwards. No shit, just 2/3 minutes of actual football.

Ditch the studio crowd, ditch Mr. Virgo and ditch the league tables for some informative graphics and it might be half decent.

It was better laid out last night with the leagues in order, my main gripe is Adam Virgo, what is the point they barely speak to him and focus on the guest (Allen/Cuerton past two weeks) and barely speak to him.

Too cheesy and the audience look like they'd rather be doing something else!

The sad thing is, they applied to be on the show. They choose to be there. Bunch of losers.

Who the hell did Virgo have to blow to get this gig?

It's worth watching just to watch Cotterill implode every week.. It wasn't a red, he put his head down...:fl:

It's absolute dung. They could easily cut it down to an hour if they got rid of Adam 'state the obvious" Virgo. It's dragged out so much it's untrue.

A poor mans Andy Townsend methinks. How any ex-pros turned that gig down before they got him?
