We’ve played 7 of the top 10 so far, it will be 8 after the weekend, with injured players coming back and teams in the bottom half to play I expect us to be around 6-8th place come Xmas.

If we had a goalscorer then I've no doubt we'd be somewhere around the top half. You only have to look at Bristol Rovers for evidence of how far one player can catapult you up the league. Think we're probably 3 short of a play-off side, but that can be addressed in January for certain - not that I imagine it will be, so another mid-table finish for us is on the cards.

We're similar to you. We've already played 8 of the top 10 (or 9 of the top 11).

Hey! I'll have you know we beat MK Don's 1-0 without JCH. Clearly top 2 material

How bad must MK Dons actually be?

Looking at the table so far, we hve played 5 in the bottom half and 6 from the top.
I have no idea where they all were when we played them though.

Regarding a prolific goal scorer, I don't think there are too many around at this level.
So having a number of strikers who can chip in over the season makes more sense.

We have Smith, Morris, Ladapo and Vassel (once he is fit again) should all be capable of chipping in with a minimum of 8 to 10 goals apiece over 44 games.
We've also got Procter and Kayode out on loan as backup.
We have wide players who can score a few and the midfielders and defenders to chip in with a few.

You can expect to lose some of them for a few games here and there due to injuries and suspensions with one of the others stepping up when needed.

Having a 20 odd goal a season striker is all well and good but if he gets crocked half way into the season?

I have no idea where we can finish because it has took us until now to get everybody back from various injuries.
We look great at times but dismal at others, ask me at Christmas.

You might not be able to tell at Christmas either.

In the season you were last promoted (17/18), you were on 26 points after 20 matches and sat in 13th.

At Christmas - the seasons half-way point - you were in 9th on 33 points.

Hastie, Ogbenne, Ladapo, Lamy, Smith, Morris, Vassell and Crooks should be able to get enough goals between them to fire you into the top 6 by the seasons end.

Thanks for Ajayi by the way, he's some player, and absolute mountain of a defender. The £1.5m we paid you for him was a criminally low price. I'd say he's easily worth anywhere between 10 and 20 times that already. I hope your board ensured there was a sell-on clause in the deal.

I hope you are right about the top 6 finish, we are only a couple of points off but seem to be quite inconsistent, though Oxford were a very good side TBF.

Regarding Semi, we all felt that he was sold cheaply but that's what can happen when your best players get into the last 6 months of their contract.
Also it didn't help that there were no other teams putting in any serious offers, so no consequent bidding war.

He often made mistakes here but is strong enough and has the pace to rectify the problem.
He was always destined for bigger things and though we miss him badly (and Vaulks for that matter) I doubt any Miller would deny him his move.

I believe there is a sell on but no idea what percentage, we can only hope we get his true worth in the years to come. (would think there's an add on if you get promoted as well so good luck)

The last 2 matches have proved our inconsistency, lose at home to Oxford then win away at Ipswich.

Hopefully we will get better as the 12 new players settle in and players come back from injuries.

We've got Wycombe at home on Saturday, result...……………. no idea.

I don’t think you can be too concerned about losing to Oxford they look the best team in the division at present, brushed us aside easily and we aren’t playing that badly

Totally agree about Oxford but I also thought Donny played really well against us in the last half hour at the Keepmoat.

I said we should have demanded at least 3 million when we sold ajayi deffo let him leave on the cheap

You can demand as much as you want, but if nobody is willing to pay it you won't get it

You can make him stay, but then his agent just tells him to run his contract out.

The player then leaves for nothing and gets a fat signing on fee for himself and his greedy agent instead of the club getting a fee.

You can blame the club for not getting him to sign a new contract earlier but agents tell players to hang on as long as possible because they know they have all the power.

We got the best deal offered at the time and we can only hope the add ons come in one day.

Weirdly conformist for us so far. We've lost to four good teams (Wycombe, Posh, Sunderland, Fleetwood; drawn with four midtablish ones (Donny, Blackpool, Lincoln, Shrews); and beaten five of the bottom six - the exception being Wimbledon who beat a Dale team without a central defence...
