Your Toughest Victory

What has been your club's toughest or even luckiest victory of the season and why?

I would have to say for City, it was Rochdale at home. We somehow won 1-0 and were 2nd best.

But we kept them at bay (somehow) and Rochdale would have easily won on another day. They out passed us and were breaking us down, something that's been difficult for many other opponents this season.

Good players and team ethic, played it the right way.

0-1 at Ashton Gate, could have been 3-0 down before we scored but were rarely threatened after that. Cracking day out too.

We've had a few unconvincing victories at home but I think stealing a point in the 94th minute against Doncaster the other week was very unjust.

Always a positive sign when you can play shit and not get beat mind.

Three contenders.

1-0 win over Bristol City where we defended heroically, scored a well worked goal and it should've been at least 2-0 but Cooper missed a sitter.

2-1 win over Oldham where we had 10 men all second half, were absolutely dominated yet produced a smash and grab with our goal of the season from Nicky Ajose.

1-0 win over Port Vale where they battered us second half but couldn't get past our back line.

I think both results against Rochdale were relatively lucky, the one at there place where we got a draw aswell they would of won had it not been for a superb fielding save. Wallsall away we could of lost too.

Probably the win against Notts County was the hardest fought. Late wins against Gills and Barnsley but they were a case of getting the win we deserved.

Bradford away, we won 2-1 against 10 men and didn't even deserve to draw the game!

Would say we've had more bad luck than good luck this season though on the whole.

One of my favourite goals of the season. Agard tucked it away perfectly and it was so well worked

For me the toughest win was Chesterfield at home. They set out very boldly and were really looking for the 3 points. Luckily we snatched it at the death from Wes Burns, pretty much his only league action for us all season.

Missed the Rochdale game, although it sounds like we were pretty lucky in that and did well to grind it out

I can't remember a tough victory .... one sniff of defeat and we've been folding like a GAP t-shirt.
Hardest fought point was Preston away, coming back from being 3-0 down pretty quickly to draw 3-3.

I guess it has to be the 3-2 win over Bristol City... not tough in the first half when we cruised into the 3-0 lead, but I would have put everything on us dropping at least two points if not all three when they had pulled two back with half an hour to go. To hold out against such relentless pressure for 30 minutes plus injury time was quite incredible by our standards.

We made hard work of being Coventry 3-1, but got there in the end.

Probably the 1-0 win at Scunthorpe a couple of weeks back. Scored our first meaningful goal away from home in about 3 months, had a defender sent off immediately after then had to fight with 10 men for 35 minutes to secure a first away win in 8, following 7 straight away defeats. The belief garnered from holding on in that game has been instrumental to our current form

Rochdale, Chesterfield and Oldham were all tough cookies - all at home. Especially Rochdale who dominated for 85 minutes of the game.

Our 1-0 win at home to Swindon was probably our toughest. They dominated us from start to finish, even when they had 10 men. The stats sum it up quite well really: 62% possession compared to our 38%, and 26 shots compared to our 8. They're still the best side I've seen this season.

Tough ... Swindon are the best side I've seen this season as well.

Swindon at home for me, we were under the cosh for the whole second half but we dug in and defended well. Its all gone downhill since then.

Chesterfield are the best side I have seen this season, Swindon were fantastic on the first day though. Didn't go to Bristol City away but at GP they weren't that great.

You've obviously been the best side overall this season. But he was saying Swindon are the best side he's seen this season, in the same way that them and MK Dons are the best I've seen by an absolute country mile. You guys were pretty poor at our gaff in October but were ruthless in taking the couple of chances you had to earn a point. Doesn't mean you've been like that in every game.

We're most consistent, not best... There's only a handful of games this season if say we've been at our absolute best.

Its an interesting point. We are quite clearly the best team in the league yet if you asked fans of other teams who the best side theyve faced has been and I wonder how many would say us? Very few I reckon. We are more of a league 1 Chelsea than a league 1 Arsenal. Very effective, relentlessly consistant but not the most attractive team to watch. That said, we've still scored more goals than anybody else.

I'd agree we don't appear to play the best style of football however it doesn't mean what we do isn't effective, we grind out wins and can be really good at times but putting teams under the hammer and being ruthless... not overly our style.
