Your very first match live?

Do you remember your very first match of your club that you've seen live at the stadium? Would be great to read about it and your recollections:

My first live match at the stadium was a birthday present for my 6th birthday. Very hard to get tickets for the Bayern Munich match in January (the 25th) 1969!!!! . So in a few days it will be the 48th anniversary of this "historic event"

25/01/1969: HSV vs Bayern München 2-2 (those were the days ).
I sat on the shoulder of my father because otherwise I wouldn't have seen anything. Volksparkstadion was packed as usual (50000plus)
And my all time hero Uwe Seeler made the 2-2 with a typical header. Although I don't remember much from this game (I was so excited to watch the "buzz" around me that I watched more the crowd than the match ). Bayern had later World Cup and Euro Champs Sepp Maier, Franz Beckenbauer in their team but thank god no Gerd Müller for this match otherwise the result would have been most certainly in favour of Bayern
I still have the matchday programme from this match, my most valuable "treasure" and from time to time I watch it to remember that this was real.

Unfortunately I can't find a yt video of the match with highlights which is a pity.

First Gills match was a 0-0 draw at Plymouth in a 1st Round FA Cup tie, 17th November 1981.
I had watched games at Park View Road and Lower Mead, when I lived close to those grounds, when I was younger, but details are a bit sketchy.

Watching the lads from my youth club playing parks football.

First proper match was the start of a few years of London groundhopping. Chelsea 2 West Brom 2 in January 1978. I was 15.

Bloody hell that's stretching the memory banks. I know it was around my birthday and I was very young. Don't remember too much about it as I was only just coming up to 5 years of age. I do remember sitting on my Dad's shoulders as he stood on the terraces and us scoring a few. I also know it was at home to Oldham as we lived in Oldham at the time, so it was a big talking point seeing as we could see Oldham's stadium from the Crescent we lived on. Looking it up to refresh my memory. It was 25th March 1978 and we won 4-1.
The first match I vividly remember at home was also 4-1 v Sheffield Wednesday on New Years Day 1983. It stands out as, cup runs aside where we reached the FA Cup 6th round and the League Cup Semis; our league form was awful!

Bournemouth at home to Shrewsbury in 1995. I was 7 so I don't remember much about it, except I vaguely remember my dad taking me onto the pitch at the end (after the initial pitch invasion surge had died down).

The circumstances were that if we won we stayed up in the third tier. Despite the fact an extra team than normal went down that year, and despite being a ridiculously long way from safety almost all season. The team had gone on a run of 5 wins in 7 to put themselves into that position. The match ended in a 3-0 win.

Some decent players emerged from that escape like Steve Jones (West Ham), Matt Holland (Ipswich/Charlton), Scott Mean (West Ham), Steve Robinson and Steve Fletcher, with a certain Eddie Howe not far behind.

August 1995, a few days after my 6th birthday, Gillingham 2-1 Wigan. Wigan's scorer was Roberto Martinez, cancelled out by an equaliser from Adrian Foster with Leo Fortune-West hitting the winner on debut 10 minutes from time.

Believe it or not i was mascot.















No i wasn't but it was 77 / 78 my first game live v Brimingham City we won 3 - 1 i think and two weeks later we were in the programme me my dad my mum 3 brothers and 1 sister , and we all had the same haircut.

I had been at a few with my dad but my memory of these is really vague as to what was first....Dundee Utd in a semi at Hampden & Inter Milan at Ibrox as examples but these were early to mid 60's. I have a recollection of being at a mid-week game against celtic at Parkhead mid to late 60's when we won 2-4 but I cannot find any trace of this. However my main first Old Firm game was on 1/1/1969 (I was 13 at the time). We went through in a supporters bus with friends of my dad's. I went to the game with one of his friends as he had a ticket and lifted me over the turnstyle. My dad had no ticket and found an alternative method of entry. It was a cold day and the stadium had an eerie atmosphere about it before the game started and at half time as a light mist descended. Listening to the Celtic fans sing was fascinating from the other end of the ground and their halfs of the side terracing and stand (the grounds were split 50/50 for Old Firm games in these days) as I had never heard an opposition support so loud or such a large away support....I really was spellbound as if thinking...'Am I really here'....so different from watching the highlights on tv. We won 1-0 thanks to a John Greig penalty...I recall the pen being given and the big fella scoring but that is all of the action that I have any memory of. Try as I might I can find absolutely no video of this game on Youtube which I find surprising as there are games from a lot earlier. I have attached an image of the match report as per a national rag...The Daily Record..

Guess it might be have been Luther Blissett up front for us and John Aldridge for Tranmere?

Andy Cole scored the first ever live goal I saw for Bristol City but we won 5/2 and they had 3 men sent off!

That's right . But we are familiar with that.
No team lost more World Cup Finals as Germany (4) and only one team won more. If we lose one we try to make it better the next time we are in a final (see 1974). If we lose two in a row we win it then the third time (82-86 -->90).
In 1966 I was too young (3 1/2) but my father told me years later that he wasn't disappointed after the 2-4 loss because we lost against a better team and we lost with dignity and it was against England. He loved the Englishmen for their behaviour at the end of the World War 2 when they rescued him, a very young man back then and had to serve as a soldier in the last months of the war.
He was wounded and came to a british Army hospital and told me later how thankful he was that it was the Brits that came and not the Red Army. He said that they treated everyone fair and with respect and that's why he was until his death in 1996 always very fond of everything british.
Only a few kilometres east was the Soviet army and when they would get him he surely would be deported to Siberia like thousands of German Soldiers and where only very few made it back to Germany.

He wanted to visit the Euro 1996 with me and his biggest wish was a match against England again. Sadly he passed away in March 1996. I watched the German matches and when we won it I had a big smile and some tears in my eyes and thought "That's for you, Paps. We made it in England, too"

Oh ffs, I am getting sentimental here. Sorry for that but sometimes you have these moments.

Nowt wrong with that Dirk. I have tears in my eyes every year on the 2nd January....the anniversary of the Ibrox disaster in 1971 when 66 of my fellow Gers fans died. You see, I was at that game (I was 15)....exited by the infamous Stairway 13 and missed the chaos by no more than 30 seconds. Our supporters bus was late home that night and my mum and dad having heard there were deaths....well you can imagine what they were thinking.
