I’m a tad surprised at how generous the Notts lads have been to the worst defence and keepers in the league. I’d definitely get rid of;
Slocombe
Rawlinson
Brindley
Chicksen and have serious doubts about
Cameron
Stone and
Baldwin

Fuckin calamitous that Rawlinson Chicksen, and Slocombe are still under contract. As Les Battersby said about women ‘you can’t live with them you can’t shoot them’. (Sorry women.)

Cameron’s improved again of late but I think we need a new captain (Langstaff) and him staying but losing the captaincy doesn’t seem workable.

Stone’s under contract and wouldn’t be a disastrous no 2. Despite his cock ups Baldwin is still one of my favourite Notts players, can’t see him stopping after what’s happened this season and a fresh start is probably for the best. Fascinated to see where he goes and how he gets on.

Dunno what’s happened to McGoldrick and Bostock. Both have gone off a cliff since Busby took charge. I find it hard to believe the two things aren’t related. Bostock’s probably gone, hopefully Didzy retires or goes elsewhere to free up his wages. Bye Morias as well.

I’d keep all the other contracted players and as Jacob suggests, offer short termers to Bajrami and Scott see what they can do at this level. Let go of the other OOC and presumably Jim’s retiring.

I know he had a goal scoring purple patch for you in the conference, but Chicksen is one of the worst players I’ve ever had the misfortune of watching! How that lad is still a professional footballer is beyond my comprehension!

He’s definitely improved a lot in his time at Notts, and was great last season albeit in a team where he had to do very little in the way of defending. I’ve seen zero this season to suggest he’s good enough to knock around a squad that’s hopefully after promotion.

He’s also got an online motivational thing called ‘The Adam Chicksen Mentality’ which should be a sackable offence in and of itself.

I will not defend his Instagram nonsense, but Chicksen is absolutely fine as a backup imo. He's not got enough creation going forward but if we're playing a winger on the other side of the pitch that's not the end of the world, I'd love to have 2 great options at all positions but is it realistic?

Pretty much this, we need better than Chicksen as first choice if we're going to push for promotion, but he's under contract, can play left wing back, left back or left centre back, and is basically always a 7/10 man. Similar to Austin in midfield, useful squad man.

I very much subscribe to the view of our defensive record being at least 50% down to the structure of the whole team being flawed. Clearly we're going to want to improve at centre back, which is why I'd release Baldwin, but you could stick with Macari/Baldwin/Cameron while having Palmer/Robertson in midfield, Jatta upfront and being more sensible with when you play both Jones and Nemane and concede about 25 fewer goals just through that IMO.

Teach the lads how to not give away double the number of pens as anyone else in the division, that's 8 goals already.

That could be solved by permanently banning Crowley and Bostock from their own penalty area.

Chicksen didn’t start many games, one I did see was Salford at home when he was abysmal and got subbed off at half time. I don’t know why anyone would keep someone who’s ‘fine’ when you might get ‘better’ for the same or similar money.

I’ve treated this topic as a bit of a utopian wish list. I don’t think in a million years that Maynard has the minerals to strip Cameron of the captaincy in the first place let alone him finding more money elsewhere and leaving. That probably applies to all our crappier in contract players. I do think we have to be far more ruthless than we were this time last year if we want to be challenging.

I don't really know what the point of stripping Cameron of the captaincy would be? You basically just call heads or tails at the start of the match.

He's a 7/10 man until he gets anywhere near the opponents penalty area where he becomes a 4/10 man and consistently turns or passes backwards.

He's under contract, he's a full back first, a do a job every now and then centre back and a reluctant non threatening wing back.

Can't see the point in having one very attacking wing back who is great going forward and can't defend and then the opposite on the other side. Sounds like it balances things out but it really doesn't and so easy to play against

It does matter how much Chicksen is on, no doubt. If he's being paid like a starter then we could almost certainly get better for the money. If we'd have to cover some of his wages to get rid and then spend more on a replacement I don't think it should be a priority, is essentially what I'm saying.

He's been fine this season when he's played, he's carried injuries most of the season and been asked to play wing back which he's not.

Release:
Slocombe
Stone
Brooks
Rawlinson
Chicksen
Bostock
Brindley
Baldwin
Bajrami
McGoldrick.
O'Brien
Adebeyo
Morais.

Some of these are under contract but they're either too old, injury prone or not shown enough to suggest they can be top end L2. None of them have let us down and there's a few my heart says keep but the budget is finite and eight of that list definitely wouldn't make a start today never mind next season.

Big summer for us. We need to revamp this squad massively as confidence has took an absolute beating. A lot of players are ok for this level still need to go as the team needs a reset to try and get rid of this losing culture that has set in.

The released list on Monday will be interesting, I don’t expect any new contracts to be offered and I hope that some contacted players are told to find new clubs. It’s brutal but it’s needed, for the players’ sakes as well as the clubs.

Getting rid of Lewis would be a good move. Is Gregg Abbot still your head of recruitment?

I’d be shocked if we get rid of him this soon.

A lot of our fans have criticised him but I want to reserve judgement until he’s got something better in front of him.

Yes Abbott is still head of recruitment. Its do or die for him this summer, he has to get it right or he’ll be gone.

Still too early to do ours - but the main worry is that higher up clubs will come with offers in for Campbell and particularly Spence.
I think Whitfield is out of contract and may be temped if an offer (to his agent) from Bradford comes in.

I've got my list written down (obviously Lindsey pays close attention to it) but as we just made the play offs it does really depend where we end up.

I do think we've only got one player who would get into a mid table league 1 side on a regular basis and a few more I'd have as back up so its pretty much root and branch if we go up.

I'd be reasonably happy if we signed Whitfield.

Hasn't he only had one good season in his career?

Because there are better players to do it. Also they get paid more, I’m guessing that counts for a bit in a professional footballers changing room..

Sounds like we were pretty dreadful today. I know who I would start my staff cull with and it ain’t anyone on the pitch.

I really don't know who's out of contract and who isn't for most of them.

Jack Currie won POTS and player's player. He has another year but I suspect higher clubs will be sniffing around.

Harry Pell has confirmed that he's leaving. I'd like to see Josh Davison go too.

Ronan Curtis had a short term contract but he's too good for this league.
