Sounds like a great little tour for our fans and team. Looked to be about 300-400 gills fans made the trip. Some quality videos been shared on socials.

When was the last time Gills won abroad?
Looked a great place to visit from what I’ve seen, pretty jealous I couldn’t go myself. Not sure if we ever won when we played those friendlies in Calais years back

The year I went it was 0-0. Cracking stadium Calais had, I do wonder if it's still there these days as I know Calais had a lot of financial issues.

We’ll have to agree to differ. Arguably one of the purposes of pre-season is to identify areas of weakness in both the squad and play, so hopefully they can be remedied by the time the season starts. The evidence from last season was that Rovers weren’t creating sufficient chances or clinical enough with those coming our way. From what I’ve seen and read, the issue is mainly creativity. While, unlike some on fan forums, I’m not getting hysterical about the couple of games we’ve played to date, expressing concern about the failure to score given the opponents doesn’t seem unreasonable.
Rovers did once sack a manager, Dave Watson, after a poor pre-season start too.

I’d agree that striker(s) who’ve filled their boots in pre-season are likely to be in a better frame of mind when the season kicks off.
Dennis, Saunders and Norris have barely appeared. When they are all fit and we are not scoring you can ramp up your traditional pessimism to 11.

Watson was sacked because his football was boring and we lost 2 home pre season games 7-0.

Our game with Forest tomorrow is sold out by the looks of it, nice little earner for not much work.

Slightly worrying that they’re sending their first team this year though. We defended in our usual mad way against Stoke last week and got murdered, so us planting Rawlinson on the half way line against Brennan Johnson should be funny.

Small task of overcoming Getafe this evening.

Seems a steady few have made the trip over to Benidorm.

Seeing reports of a few Gills fans being filled in by the local "Ultras" no doubt swinging belts around & knives, shithouses & cowards, out looking for easy targets no doubt so they can take photos of flags upside down & claim a result against the English*

* Some families from Strood.

It is, it's now the home of Grand Calais Pascal FC (tier 6) after the original side were dissolved in 2017.

One of our lot was hospitalised after being clumped with a log (yep, a log) by a couple of locals who were subsequently nicked. I think they took umbrage with some of ours slapping Gills stickers on various surfaces in the Ultras home bar. The club subsequently asked our fans to avoid said bar after the game.

It will be good as a test. I hear we have 1 or 2 possible Right of Centre Backs in the works for signing in the next 7-10 days.
Ones from League 1 just released the other.....no idea.

After facing two minnows from the Humberside area in our opening two friendlies we host Hull at Blundell Park today.

We've got a BCD game against the mighty Bala Town today, before flying out to play Chelsea on the 19th in North Carolina.

Crawley are playing Three Bridges (a neighbourhood in Crawley) today.

I'm going up town drinking. Arranged ages ago or I would have gone to the game.

The usual 'we can't win' game. Pop 9 past them and it's only Bridges. Draw or lose and were definitely down.

Good run out against strong opposition today. Swansea winning 5-0. Rumour that we had Connor Wickham as a triallist.

We beat Fleetwood 4-1 in a behind closed doors game, the excellent Josh Hawkes scoring two. He will be a big player for us if he is still here at the end of the window.

An important win for us, after a couple of dodgy performances and results, even if it is only pre-season.

Lost 1-0 to a strong Forest team with our obligatory defensive howler passing it out, but pretty much dominated the game otherwise. Had loads of possession considering the difference in quality on paper, much more promising than last week.

We gave up on the back three and went with a conventional back four, full backs pushed right up though. No disgrace losing 1-0 to Forest, miles better than last week's effort against Stoke.
Jodi Jones, if he stays fit looks well capable of ripping a few teams to bits this season.

Good run out for both sides I think, we will hopefully have lots of the ball this season again and Forest will play most of the season without having much of it. 4 at the back was interesting but I wouldn't be rushing to play it to start the season.
