Personally I would lay blame more on my team’s inability to beat an utterly mediocre opponent on the day in question rather than anything else, if that hypothetical scenario does play out.

Colchester’s games in hand are Stockport, Grimsby and Doncaster. Perhaps my bias and hope are speaking here, but that’s not an overly worrying set of fixtures from a Sutton perspective. Of course this is reliant on Sutton maintaining our current form….

Colchester have the massive advantage of being 1 point ahead of us and 4 ahead of you. For Sutton that means maintaining our current form. We’ve 5 games left, in our last 5 we’ve gained 10 points, out scoring points wise Colchester significantly. We’re not in a position to drop that level
