Whenever we play again we could still be 1 win from getting out of the bottom 3

Hard thought point and as much as could be expected after Sunday’s exertions, we have lots of winnable games coming up so should pick up some wins. Still not convinced by McMahon and his set up or some of his signings, very solid but create nothing.

Great news for us on the Cal Roberts front - we now think his mystery injury is inflammation from having had Covid and he just needs to rest for a couple of weeks, rather than the long term job we feared.

Great news. I think we’d have won tonight with a fit and firing Roberts.

Probably, although tonight was just one of those games I think. Four times out of five we’ve got that won after half an hour, and even then we still found time for a baffling non-penalty award and Wootton missing a sitter in the second half.

We're looking close to a decent team, we made enough chances to win that but fair play to Daggers they dug in first half and much more even second.
We have thrown some points away this season though, won't go up without nicking games like this.

I think we’re more likely to be a team which finishes 2nd-4th or something but gets plenty of plaudits for playing nice football, there’ll be someone more ruthless than us that can grind out ugly wins, particularly away.

I can see what we’re trying to do, though, and hopefully NA has learned his lesson about actually letting our forward players go out there and play.

Beadle will survive tonight's result but won't survive a home defeat to Wealdstone on Saturday. The team seem prepared to dig their heels in for cup ties but aren't interested in league games, which is clearly unsustainable.

Only league wins this season came against 10 man Dagenham and a 1-0 against a toothless Weymouth. Beadle will do well to see Christmas.

Too many journeymen signed as the chairman tightened the purse strings early in the season and making loan signings to plug the gaps looks like it isn't enough.

It's now four unbeaten, two home matches to come. We're at the cusp I think, win them and it starts to look a formidable run, carrying on from last season, drop points and it's a bit moderate as expectations for this season are sky high, rightly or wrongly.

Well, that was our best performance of the season but Barnet were absolutely dreadful. They probably only got 2 back because we switched off after the 5th. Genuinely think we could have got 7 or 8 if we really wanted to.

Regardless, no coincidence we look best when Jeff King and Earing are playing. Tom Bradbury getting 2 assists as an overlapping centre back was quite comical. Nice to see Hyde get off the mark. Him and Bell linked up well. Bell was quite a handful. I'd keep him for longer based on that performance for any interested Stockport fans.

Will be interesting to see on Saturday if tonight was a one off us being good or Barnet being awful. Suspect it was a bit of both. Big much needed win for us that.

Stockport County.
Notts County with the first silverware of the season. 'Put some good early pressure on Dagenham' cup.

We'll win ours by Christmas when we've actually started playing a few games. 'Most hyped up team for no reason' shield.

Notts looked decent but not good enough to win the league, it’s nice football but this is not a league for nice football come feb when pitches are like bogs etc and like someone said above you have to win ugly at times and their away results show they just don’t do it. Play offs again for them I reckon, but there are probably 10 teams in that position. For all the possession and corners etc they created very few clear cut chances, bar a couple of saves our keeper did not have much to do.

On another day Notts have that game wrapped up comfortably before half time.

During the game the home keeper made a couple of good saves, hit the woodwork we missed a sitter , and it's a penalty all day long.

Far more even in the second with a couple of let offs for the visitors, would have been criminal if we had lost 1-0.

Fingers crossed on Roberts, this league needs to see this boy in action as he's a bit special at this level

Nah it’s all due to us (disclaimer: I haven’t watched the match). Playing a formation that doesn’t protect our slow full-backs and having a very slow central midfield combination who can’t protect our slow centre-halves (one of whom is very slow) is a recipe for disaster. We’re not well-drilled enough to compensate for these deficiencies and we don’t have much of a plan to score.
Jake Hyde is a perfectly adequate striker at this level, but he’s nothing exceptional and I bet we made him look so.
I don’t think Beadle will last the season here.

Agree with all of that. We don’t seem to be any better than last season, which given the likely budget involved is disappointing. We won’t win enough games to finish top.

Depends how you look at it - I’m not sure we’re better than the team that ended the season, but we were the form team in the league. I think we look miles better than the team we were up until around Christmas.

You may well be right about us not winning the league, I certainly haven't put any money on it but it's a bit of a cliche about the pitches all being terrible by February, some are but most are pretty well looked after even at this level.

Your two wingers were interesting. Going forwards they caused us lots of problems getting into dangerous areas however they were extremely lazy tracking back. To concede twice from an overlapping centre back crossing it in unopposed is criminal.

That’s Ephron Mason-Clark for you! The other ‘winger’ was Faal, who’s a striker and not used to being played in this position.
