Should people even bother clapping the fans? nobody asked them to come, they chose to. Shouldn't be clapped for it. As a fan myself, I'd rather see my team play well and win then be clapped. Absolute no consolation if we've been shit. I've fucked off anyway by then.

All this shit in post match interviews now "and finally, what did you think of the fans?"

To be fair I think that’s a Jon Keighren special - as soon as I hear that I close the app.

Following on that subject, I don't really get applauding a team onto the field before the game.

They haven't done anything yet.

There are some right miserable gits on here.
The fans pay their money, travel up and down the country and sing and cheer themselves hoarse to support their team.
There isn’t normally much to cheer when you support teams like ours either!
I think it’s right that the players and managers show their appreciation for that support.
Most on here would probably be moaning about a lack of appreciation if they didn’t.
Supporting a football team, particularly a lower league team, should be about togetherness and a feeling of belonging.

Depending if your team is bad, as ours was for the last two seasons, the applause commends them for finding the pitch in the first place.

Since this has turned into the pet peeve thread, I hate when you get whopped (happened plenty this year) and they walk the pitch applauding the fans after, unless your bringing a grovelling mat with yer and pleading for forgiveness just fuck off down the tunnel till next week.

I agree. Any of our local fans who travel to lots of away games at places like Rochdale and Carlisle, sometimes needing to take the day off work if it is a midweek game, deserve nothing but admiration (and perhaps their head examined) and the least the players and manager can do is acknowledge and give a thumbs up to them.

Fist pump seems more self indulgent, though, and I am also not keen on the fans rubbing it in with the fans of any team we beat. A bit of fun and leg pulling is fine, but don't over do it, not least because it will come back and bite you on the bum.

My dad always says that: "They were booed off at the end of the last game, have done nothing since, and now they're being cheered".

They're damned do if they do and damned if they don't in that situation though, aren't they? For every one of you there's someone that will complain about them not even being arsed to clap us when we've paid our good money.

Nah fuck em, they only half heartedly do it anyway and are basically a verbal punching bag for the fans, just get out of our sight basically.

Any fan caught applauding a team who’ve been rogered 5-0 at home should be frogmarched to the nearest beach and hung, no mercy.

Should make the players AND management staff pay the traveling expenses
For ever single fan who bothered to travel if we lose.

See how many games away we lose then.

Why applaud anything? If they score a goal they're just doing their jobs.

Saidou Khan has been caught on camera giving a Salford player a slap and has been charged. That's effectively his third red of the season and so I think faces a 5 game ban. The guy is a brilliant footballer but is a brainless liability with his discipline. Will be a big miss being out for a third of the season.

See Daryl Horgan got a full 5 minutes for you lot again today, I can only assume we must be paying a chunk of his wages still otherwise I have no idea why you signed him.

I mean, he’s ok, but he’s no game-changer, and not really a clever January signing unless you were just looking for squad cover.

Horgan's a winger right? We don't really play with wingers so he's basically filling the David Amoo role from the first half of season - basically an experienced body to sit on the bench, getting cameo appearances late in matches.

In all honesty most of our January recruits have been largely ineffective or underused to date.

They are definitely not, Cheated there way past us at their gaff.

Mr Rose will be visiting the Vic shortly, And will recieve a very warm welcome.

Cheated? lol. Not Rose's fault that your keeper didn't take a second to check that he was behind him.

Technically he is supposed to be a winger yeah, but on the rare occasions he got a game for us it was in a kind of No. 10 role.

Get used to it with Evans. With us, he signed a defender called Christian Maghoma from a foreign league, having previously been with Spurs. Reportedly on a few thousand a week having been given a 2 year contract and started about 4 games for us before being discarded. Numerous useless loan signings (Robbie Cundy being an exception) followed.

Apart from Kyle Dempsey, Jordan Graham and Vadaine Oliver, all who already had big reputations, his recruitment was dismal. They kept us afloat until they left and we sunk.

Likes to play free and easy with the owners money then makes their life hell when they finally have to tighten the purse strings. Enjoy the good times while you can.

Aye it's the keepers fault he didn't check in the bottom corner of his net for a crouching striker..

Fans that respond to any players or their club admin on social media 'demanding' refunds should be given to them for a poor performance/heavy defeat should be immediately given a 1 season ban from attending matches. Repeat offenders then receive 3,5,10 year bans etc.

If he takes literally one second to check if there's anyone behind him he'd have spotted Rose and you don't lose the game. Who's to blame if not the goalkeeper? His team mates for not spotting it and alerting him? Not sure how it could be described as cheating anyway.

Genuinely not that arsed anymore, I don’t think it’s cheating either it’s just an incredibly greasy way to score.

Because you are not allowed to leave the field of play, Excludeing a challenge of course.
So blame the ref.

The thing is that could be seen as a reward to fans of some clubs instead of a punishment.

I think the whole leaving the field of play stuff would only really come into effect if Rose purposely left the field of play to hide in the goal which I don't believe he did. From memory his momentum carried him into the goal and he got tangled up in the net. It's such a unique and bizarre incident I don't think there's anything in the rule book that really covers it.
