Can we relegate Newport for their general shithouseness?

They spent all last week cheating and fouling against us last week and their celebration for their first goal against Swindon is embarrassing.

Get rid of them, pointless club.
Haven’t seen their goal celebration, what did they do?

Draw was a fair result at Oldham today in my opinion.

Oldham started better and created more. Our goal was probably against the run of play, their equaliser was fortunate in that it took a huge deflection that completely fooled Collin.

Second half we had clear (easy) chances to win the game. If we had a half decent striker we’d maybe score the goals needed to stay in this fucking league.

Our problem is most teams create loads against us and completely dominate our weak pathetic midfield so beat us comfortably. But on the odd occasion like today when we’re in the game, we’re so toothless in the final third that we can’t turn anything into a win. 2 wins in 15 games is disgraceful and if we don’t improve that over our next 15 we’ll go down.

I raise you our 1 win in 16 games since October. Apathy is setting in here now.

Looked decent. Didn’t get that many chances but passing was good, showed some good glimpses of skill. He’ll do well I think.

Just checked and ours is actually 2 wins in 16, since 28th September. Checked yours and you’ve won 4 in that same time. I’m only counting League games here.

Few of their players going over to the Swindon fans and attempting to goad them. Before you try and say Van Veen did the same thing that one was in a fierce derby whereas this is two clubs with no animosity between them.

Because your fans are very fickle and will criticise him the minute anything goes wrong, wonder how long the feel good factor will stay around if the results dry up.

Feck me, we dropped three divisions and out the League in 7 years and have then spent the next 9 years either out of the football league or near the bottom of league 2. I think we have been entitled to a teeny weeny bit of fickledom.

Despite the 16 years of mostly shite football, the fans have consistently turned up at away games in numbers that many higher league teams, including Scunthorpe, would envy. Save for a few Tuesday night games Blundell Park has had at least 3.5k there, and we've averaged over 4k for most of those disastrous season.

In this time, we've had an alcoholic manager, a series of rookies out of their depth and Russell Slade. Paul Hurst is the only manager who could make a case for unfair criticism, especially in our promotion season, (from me included). The fans put their hands in their pockets and raised transfer fund of £100k - that unjustifiably made them feel a bit entitled.

I think Ian Holloway has a little bit more time before we turn on him...

Were not jealous of Grimsbys away numbers, ours would be the same if we had the population of Grimsby/Cleethorpes.

The fickle comment mostly comes from your fans treatment of Hurst, he is your most successful manager in years yet is hated by what seems to be a lot of your fanbase

Haha nice reasoning, Newport’s players were embarrassing by doing it whereas your own player doing it was justified as it was a derby. Wow.

Maybe just maybe doing it in a fierce derby would be considered worse as those fans are going to be much more wound up by a total prick celebrating in front of them?

Will be interesting when they get Bored of Holloway, Supreme Court Date? considering what they’ve had to do to get him in.

While we're only 1 win in 14 (also vs Cambridge), additionally we've only managed 3 wins in 24 with two of those wins being countered by our points deduction so i raise you our record.

About time we won. Unbeaten in 13 league games now, but having just drawn four on the bounce including games with Crawley, Stevenage and Morecambe it was imperative we won today.

Cruised into a 2-0 lead early doors and looked set for a rout, but it seemed as though the players decided the game was done at that point - had a very strange feel to it. We scored an unbelievable team goal for a third which was given offside. Looked very tight but think Robinson may have been fractionally off, and he then had a stonewall penalty waved away which would have killed the game off.

Tough run now though with Bradford, Exeter and Swindon next up.

We will be fine, we have great pre and post match interviews to listen too for the rest of the season no matter the result. Can't see us going down so will enjoy the next few months and look forward to next season. Play like we did today and the last month or so and we will win more than we lose.

We weren't expected to do much this season it would have been nice to build on it but things change, now we can be optimistic for next season instead. Mansfield were expected to do things and have spent big to do things and have ended up in a relegation battle like County last season. Good job it's only one going down otherwise it could be really bad for you.

It’s not what about what we expected to do, Grimsby and Mansfield are both shite. We played well yesterday too but it doesn’t matter if you still lose. Holloway and Coughlan need the summer to properly take charge.

This isn’t a direct competition between the two, there’s 22 other teams in the division, so keep the competitiveness for Lincoln or whoever your rivals are.

He is not hated, he's respected by most of us. He got alot of stick in the promotion season starting mainly in a game at Halifax, where we terrible, lost 4-2 and effectively out of the title race with Cheltenham. We coasted into the play-offs playing poorly. But to be fair to Hurst he always said if we got to Wembley we'd win and the rest is history - ear cupping to the Gy fans.

Should we play for the rest of the season like we did today then I don’t think I’ll be complaining too much (goals would be nice though).

I don’t see where those Goals are coming from, what happened to Green?

If Nailsworth had the same population as Scunthorpe, we'd be averaging 32000 gates, and averaging 1600 away. Fact.

He's shite, too old, belongs back in non league, I know I slated green, but he was a good player for you (not as good as Hearn ;) ) but hes done absolutely nothing for us this season apart from a wonder goal against Chelsea. No pace, no hold up play, can't pass to a team mate 3 yards away and can't score, genuinely don't know what he has about him. I wouldn't be bothered if he doesn't play another game for us. Hopefully Ollie gets something out of him though.

As for our goals, we have had at least 3 of our 5 or 6 attacking players constantly injured for the past two months, so we have been unlucky in that regard, coupled with poor finishing from those who have been playing. Yesterday was good defending and goalkeeping from Exeter that stopped us getting a couple.

Our defence is up there in the top 10 so if we can start putting a few chances away and with Hanson coming back and Clarke signed we should get a few again soon. (Hanson has been out for about 7 matches and he still has the most aerial duels won stat in lge 2! certainly been missing his heading ability on attack)

You brought us up not me, I was just saying its different for us. We didn't sack our manager because we were shite he left because he brought himself and the club into disrepute with local radio.
Then Holloway came in when Limbrick had already improved our football, we had only lost one in the 5 games before he took charge and won the game before. With Jolley there was that confidence issue, we'd win a few then go a losing streak, since he left the confidence is back its just the lack of goals due to injuries that have cost us a few more points.

You sacked your manager because you were shite and have still lost 4 of his 7 games which suggests he has a much bigger job on to make you decent again.

Jonny Maxted and our defence earned their corn once again with some impressive saves/ blocks. Grimsby deserves at least a point but we have this incredible knack of doing just enough to win a game and Nicky Law took his goal incredibly well.

I expect Grimsby will be up there next season once Holloway puts his stamp on things and they should have a good end to the season judging by how they played yesterday.

Col U next weekend should be interesting between two form teams. UTC

How was Tafari Moore?

Looked steady enough, but wasn't exactly given too much of a test or a great deal to do. He'll only be providing cover I would think so he seems perfectly fine for that with Jackson back from suspension for Tuesday night.

I imagine the loan will serve as a bit of an extended trial period really given how keen you are to offload him, even if it's just seeing him up close in training and so on.

Well it's all hypothetical isnt it? Fact of the matter is that Grimsby/Cleethorpes has a much bigger population than Scunthorpe and really should have higher home crowds and away followings.

I just said I think we are both in for a pretty miserable end to the season, you started to go full in on how shit we are, but I happen to be quite aware of that, comes with the whole ‘being a fan thing’

You obviously disagree, you think Grimsby will have a much better season from here on in comparison to Mansfield, that’s fine - No need to go on about how big our budget is, how shite we are, that we are in a relegation battle. Again, all pretty well known and true, but I was just suggesting we will both continue to struggle.

calm down with the micro-aggressions brah, you are currently marginally better than Mansfield - CELEBRATE :ds:

You said both of us wouldn't have a fun end to the season I disagreed because of expectations, we are expected to finish mid table which is where we are and we are improving on where we were. You are far from where you expected and not improving, that's nothing to do with us being marginally better or worse.

We will have a fun end of the season win, lose or draw thanks.

I think your away support should be higher than ours, due to the fact Grimsby/Cleethorpes is a much bigger place than Scunthorpe. What's clueless about that?
