Well that was crazy, intense, occasionally funny but thankfully things did pick up a bit when teams got settled down. Need to go back through PMs to confirm what teams scored but will post the answers now so you've got some time to think about what might come up in the next puzzles.
Some really, really unlucky attempts as well but the red herrings are tricky - especially with this format. Anyway...
Grid 1:
1 - Drums, Whales, Tagine, Steam (all contain drinks within the word - rum, ale, gin, tea). Suffice to say no-one got that link
2 - Wise, Pace, Ball, Large (comedians or one part of comedy double acts)
3 - Alter, Isle, Pugh, Cannon (all parts of a church spelt alternatively)
4 - Time, Fry, World, Change (small ____)
Grid 2:
1 - Brer, Jessica, Roger, Peter (all famous 'rabbits')
2 - Rope, Suspicion, Rebecca, Vertigo (all Alfred Hitchcock films)
3 - Yellow, Help, Revolver, White (all related to Beatles albums(
4 - Wheel, Ski, Pistol, Feature (water ______)
Grid 3:
1 - Bay, Mail, Cigarette, On (E-______)
2 - Chestnut, Grey, Brown, Piebald (all types of horse coat)
3 - Jelly, Charter, Ascot, Icing (Royal _______)
4 - Bath, Antrim, Rates, Catherine (all begin with names of animal - bat, ant, rat and cat).
Remember, you get points for both correct groupings and link so I know a few people identified links but didn't quite get the grouping right, but you will still score something.
Right I need a short break but hopefully we can get going again at about half past. I might just save the scoring until the end so I can get through at least 2 more each.
