Well i missed the last two away games for time spent on the bike but made the trek today more in hope than expectation. Kiddy could have been outside in the first 25mins but once we equalised only one team was on top and it one of those occasions when you are not wanting half time to come, that is until one moment of madness gives Kiddy an oppurtunity to go in leading which they sqaundered. Kiddy had the better of the second half and were it not for Sam Johnson would have romped it. The entrance of Moyo seemed to most of us that this was the sign that we were settling for the point. Could not forsee that he would invite a rash challenge swinging the advantage back to us. One of those games where both could have laid claim to deserving the win (Town had been denied by the woodwork twice) whilst at the same time probably thinking a draw was a fair result.

Doesn't quite make up for last sasons horror show at Aggborough that played a massive part in sending us down but at least we got to drive home happy cheered by three points and two comedy Kiddy fans. The first with his genius ear cupping and shush gestures at every bit of noise we made towards a bloody inept referee, and then another who claimed that we were a team of thugs who should have been down to 10 in a fairly timid game for Conference North standards. Need to do all we can to avoid Kiddy in the play-offs.

5 of our final 6 opponents have the opportunity to do the double over us. It ain't over till it's over.
If you lose to us at home Your players deserve to be docked a weeks wages and you dont deserve a play off place. We are tragic away.

Darlington, Halifax, Stockport and Kidderminster, with one of the 3 great & historic Football League clubs claiming the second promotion place. Sorry.:ds:

Truth told I wouldn't call them fans. Unfortunately some games tend to bring out the morons who hang on to the club. Unfortunately as is so often the case, 600 or so fans traveled today and the only ones talked about are 15 or 20 trouble makers.

While it is annoying and more needs to be done. We also have circa 2,000 fans who have saved the club from extinction, supported us while we played in exile, fund raised to bring BM up to spec etc. These are the people I would call darlington fans and supporters.
Quite, and spot on. This is an issue prevalent at most clubs that have a long history in REAL football. Perhaps you could have the courtesy to reciprocate my support for you next time I have to defend my club in similar circumstances. Thanks. :bdick:

Im guessing its hangers on that caused the trouble who probably only came cos they could tie it in with a weekend piss up in blackpool. I went to stockport game and darlo brought a fair few, game was entertaining but no trouble at all

What a miserable 14 months it's been for Gainsborough since inexplicably sacking Housham.

Shit managers, shit players and going down (for the first time ever) with a whimper

To be fare, there has been steady progress off pitch this year. The Highlights are a big improvement and communication is better then it has been, if still not great. Youth development must be working well seen as they are about to win the league. Lady's team smashed the league without dropping a point.
Surely if we fail to make the playoffs next season full time then Weaver will dump his Son. . . Surely!

Not applauding them for FINALLY getting their arse in gear with regard to SOME areas off the pitch.
They are still laughably shambolic in some off the pitch areas - struggling to send Season tickets out to people 2 month into the season, the Jordan's sons shirt being another great example, the fact we have a worse matchday atmosphere than previous years thanks to naïve and badly thought out imposed rules.

Ladys team - is a but a hobby horse for certain couple of people at the club, good if that's your sort of thing but I go and have been watching town for 20+years for the first team. Yes the young lads are doing great this season....let's see how many Simon with his dads cheque book has the patience and the ability to blood in. We are also lagging teams at our level in this regard - if you look at our opponents at this level and their relative levels of youth teams.

And I fail to see, away from doing matchday highlights, wow, and post match interviews - how you can say that communications is better --------did you miss the whole shameful Daniel 'Head of Coomunications' McGeachie article in the programme about some fans? Did you miss his response to Jordan when he asked him about it? Did you miss the way in which Plant as an MD reacts to imposing rules and also responding to any type of questions from the fans?

I totally fail to see the improvement at all - as you thankfully say, all of this stems from your last point. He won't.

Are your away fans always like that JE? Never seen anything like it at any level of football. I went to Darlington earlier in the season and they were a very welcoming set of supporters. Today's lot were a disgrace, kicking off with police, throwing cigarettes and beer all over the stewards, running on the pitch like clowns when they pulled a goal back.

After having a quick glimpse at your forum it seems like those morons only turn up for big games. I also see your official website has put up a statement about your fans today
I'll be honest with you, I was a bit surprised there were barely any problems for our visit (just one pint thrown & some kid trying to nick a corner flag at the end). If we'd scored people would definitely have been on the pitch.

Clubs like us & Darlo will always have some numpties following us; if (when) you go up you'll be facing that sort of support much more often. AFCF letting people take pints into the stand will be the first thing to change; adding a waist-high barrier is something I'd expect too.

Have they still not put any barriers in place to prevent fans just walking across the grass at the back of the goals?

Got to ask, having just watched it on Youtube recently -Is your chairman the same Weaver in the documentary about us Trading Places with Doncaster in 1998, who was chairman of Doncaster who appointed himself manager and picked himself in the team? Got to be a relative of some sort. :fl:

Many Kiddy fans likely to be at Whaddon Rd Sat? If you don't go up next season then I suspect next season will be a new low for us as I very much doubt we'd have more fans than you playing over in Evesham. It would mark the first time we'll have ever been outnumbered at "home".

There's a sponsored walk to Whaddon Rd in raising money Queen Elizabeth hospital in memory of a local PE Teacher Becky Giddins who sadly lost a battle with cancer. Over 50 Harriers fans will be walking and I suspect maybe another 100 if not more will be going via coach/car.

Forza - I completely agree that the ex league clubs are going to have a few numpties as most clubs do but this wasn't a few. I can sort of understand 17/18 year old acting like clowns but they had 25/30 men in the corner that must of been over 40 years old throwing beer in stewards faces and flicking cigarettes at them. Just embarrassing, grow up you morons.

Stockport fans were excellent, sung all game and no trouble what so ever. I like Stockport from our time in this league and having a few ex Fylde players that couldn't go full time. If they do make the playoffs that's who I'd be rooting for. To be honest though I think your 3 or 4 players off really challenging at the top. I don't know why really but I think Salford will win the play offs

Do you sometimes wake up in the middle of the night, screaming 'REAL CLUB!'
After all the times I have seen you rant on here about REAL CLUB'S, I'm still not sure what you mean.
Is it that any club which has had more money invested then it makes for several years is no longer a real club? and becomes tinpot? Or once a real club, always a real club, no matter how much investment?
Or is it relative, like compared to you Harrogate is tinpot. compared to most of the current football league, Halifax is tinpot?
Or perhaps all founding members of the football league are all REAL CLUBS - No one else!
Can a tinpot club, one day be a real club?
It seems the line between tinpot clubs and real clubs is a little grey.

My dear fellow, I have explained this many times but here it is again, just for you: Real football clubs were in the Football League in 1986. All of the rest are Tin Pot and always will be. Some of the Tin Pot clubs are also Fake and I think this is where your real confusion lies. Forest Green, AFC Fylde, Fleetwood, Brackley etc are Fake. Harrogate are trying their best to become Fake but have not yet thrown enough money at it. They're still something of a joke though aren't they, I mean. Oh and don't bother coming back with the tired old club/new club 2008 thing, the FA has already made their decision that we are the same club. And no, I sleep like a log. Thanks for asking. :bdick:

In other news, today the club were informed by the FA Council that our name change has been ratified, dropping the 1883. We will officially be Darlington FC from the start of next season. It's been a big season for the club off the pitch moving back to the town and now getting our official playing name back. Here hoping to a solid end to the season. I don't think we're good enough to get promoted but any playoffs money would be a great bonus. Give us a good basis to push on next season.

We play our game in hand tonight at home to Stalybridge. A point will be enough as that would mean Gainsborough would need to win 4 of their remaining 5 matches to go above us. A very tall order indeed.

Defeat for Stalybridge tonight would be their 25 defeat in 35 games, and their not bottom!

Some serious work needs to be done over the summer otherwise we look in real danger of facing the drop next year.

I don't go with the whole Halifax 2008 thing. Your the same club as you always have been.
Why 1986? and surely if a club progresses and the fan base grows, without major investment and makes it to the football league, then they can eventually become a REAL club?
Otherwise the whole 'REAL CLUB' thing becomes meaningless bulls**t, that clubs cling onto when they lack success for long periods of time.
Given the choice of lack of any atmosphere or investment Harrogate Town 15yrs+ ago or the current Harrogate Town I would choose this one.
What choice do I have, born and bred in Harrogate. Railway?

DOLF87 - B2TF has arbitrarily chosen 1986 as the cutoff as this is the year when automatic promotion from non-league started. You'll soon find it's best not to engage with B2TF at all, it's like trying to argue with a drunk when you are sober.

Brackley vs Halifax is a sneaky big game tonight.

If Brackley win they are still in the play off hunt and fax have a battle still for top 5.

If Fax win, that is Brackley's season over, plus you could say 2 of the 4 play off spots seem over.

Add in also how the play off final is played at ground of higher placed finalist and Fax taking 2nd place off Kiddy is another big twist

Now I get it. No wonder he's so bitter about playing in non league. Halifax always had the safety net of knowing no matter how poor they were, they couldn't be relegated past a certain point.
That safety saved them 5 times between 1947-85.

Oh look, the Tin Potters are ganging up on me. Pfft. :fl:
I am now reverting to my original policy on this board and will in future only be engaging directly with supporters of our brother REAL clubs. :bdick::bdick:
