He's off balance, and the elbow isn't raised. It's not a red. He's not the most graceful footballer in the world so the collision was unavoidable.

Seen the Times' headline says the game was 'marred' by this, absolutely ludicrous.

Sorry, but this is bollocks. Even if he is knocked off balance, normally in that situation you'd stick your hands out in front of you, not turn on your side and leap in with your elbow. At best it's an unbelievably cowardly challenge, at worst it's a deliberate attempt to smash the keeper's face in.

Sorry but NBFC is correct. Rhead wouldn't do anything like that deliberately, he's a good boy.

Zero red cards in his pro career, he's an angel.

Also a big fan of how it's a grimsby fan who's filmed his telly and stuck it on twitter for numbers. That red hot outrage must keep you warm down in 21st place :bg:

Tragic that they don't have anything better do.

First time I’ve seen it but that’s a straight red all day long, looks at the keeper before going in for the elbow. Should be a lengthy ban barring that silly rule if the referee books it can’t be upgraded.

Lincoln fans should be furious he even attempted that which could of cost them any chance in the game had he gone off!

Except he didn't get sent off, and we won.

What’s more tragic is a team who’s fans whilst in non league always claimed to not be our rivals when we were better than them, then suddenly when they are better than us come out with that pathetic banner for the game at Sincil Bank.

Now THAT’S tragic.

Wrong way round, Grimsby always claimed not be our rivals. We were always up for it. You lot prefer Doncaster or someone.

Yeah to be fair the Lincoln lot were always up for it at Blundell Park always coming in fancy dress, mostly though dressed up as red plastic seats. :2thumb:

I’d like to think that some Lincoln fans are being sarcastic about the ‘tackle’. The ref probably didn’t want to ‘spoil’ the occasion.

Now THAT’S tragic.

This is the precise opposite of reality. Grimsby have always been the ones to pretend it's not a proper rivalry, we've always said it was the biggest game of the season when it's been played.

Grimsby always used to claim games against Sheffield Wednesday were a bigger deal or some thundering bollocks like that.

This is absolutely right. If that happens at 65 minutes or whatever it's a guaranteed red isn't it. It's never really acknowledged but refs definitely hold back early on, and definitely do so in showpiece games. They know if they pull out a red in the first 10 minutes they'll get the flack for ruining the game rather than the player who, say, smashed a goalkeeper in the face.

Sorry but Lincoln used to claim we weren't a rival then proceeded to sing about us after the Burnley away game and the game they got promoted.

We've always said it's a rivalry, it's just tragic to watch a team obviously having success dedicating every moment to a team they say they don't care about.

Though thinking about it, those people probably thought Sincil Bank was a financial institution before 2017.

What a load of shit, yeah we pretend it’s not a rivalry by selling out your away end every year and you prove that we are definitely your biggest game and true rivals by barely half filling the away end at Blundell Park for 5 consecutive years.

Great day out and I thought the football club were very classy - from the memorial page(s) in the programme, the mascots, allowing Colin Murphy to lead the team out. We're in such a great place and the connection between club and fans are at an all time high. Lots of ex Imps - which again shows what this club means - Matt Alexander, Raggett, Dickie, Yeo, Clucas just to name a few.

More "football fortune" to push this club on, whatever division we're in next season, we're in such a strong position to keep building this club and push past our local rivals both on and off the pitch.

If you take off the rose tinted specs and ask. If that was done by an opposition player to my keeper. Would I have said it's red. This looks a pretty cut and dry, "yes I would".

If it was a trial, don't think the jury would deliberate for long

IMO both Rhead and Nsiala should have seen red. However I thought he were fantastic and shut down a team who could easily play in the Championship next season.

How is it that I have seen him sent off at least twice playing for the Stags

In many ways the Checkatrade is the ideal showcase for the Cowley's style of football :D
If you are incredibly lucky, you may get to witness more Cowley football next season, or more likely you can see some quality stuff at Bromley and Boreham Wood.

The most ridiculous unwritten rule. A red is a red whether it's in the 2nd minute or the 67th minute.
Similar assault by a Chesterfield player against us last week after 90 seconds. Fortunately we won the game but the lack of bottle by officials because it's ' too early' is staggering

That’s that conspiracy against Vale rearing it’s ugly head again. :shifty:

Tbh I don’t blame them giving big licks to grimboland right now, who wouldn't? Easy target. Plus all those years of being inferior to their near neighbours , it’s long overdue

To be fair I think we only had one song about Grimsby which was really about Nathan Arnold which of course we don't sing anymore because he's gone. Shame, as it was a really good song + got the rise out of you guys all the time

Precisely. Its a nonsense and I'm bored of referees trying to justify it.

What next... ruling out goals within the first 30 seconds?

You are surely on the wind up here!

Someone above mentions Nsiala should have been sent off for us - not sure what for? Don't remember him assaulting any of your players?

Think that handball looks worse in slow motion - he was leaning against the post and to me it looks as though he is pulling his arm away, but with the sheer speed the ball has hit it at the same time the slow motion makes it look as though he's punched it. Don't think it is intentional though, so no penalty.
This. I'm not having that as a legitimate handball shout, which is why there was little reaction from anyone. Waterfall's running back to the goal I think, put his hand on the post to push off and it hits him.

Nsiala was just continuous fouling. He must have made 7 before he finally got booked, and then the ref let him off when he threw his arms around at him and gave him a mouthful after his booking. In terms of amount of fouls, he was the worst on the pitch by a country mile.
