This. I'm not having that as a legitimate handball shout, which is why there was little reaction from anyone. Waterfall's running back to the goal I think, put his hand on the post to push off and it hits him.

Wasn't that you, pontoonlew?

Aye it was, I've had a few tounge in cheek tweets about Lincoln absolutely blow up with your fans incandescent with rage, though I didn't quite expect this one to fly off the handle as much as it did.

Nsiala was just continuous fouling. He must have made 7 before he finally got booked, and then the ref let him off when he threw his arms around at him and gave him a mouthful after his booking. In terms of amount of fouls, he was the worst on the pitch by a country mile.
Nsiala is a fucking baby who id have love to have seen walk too.

To be fair I think we only had one song about Grimsby which was really about Nathan Arnold which of course we don't sing anymore because he's gone. Shame, as it was a really good song + got the rise out of you guys all the time

I'm not sure a rise is the same as laughing at you.

I vividly remember the 'are you watching Grimsby Town' after Burnley and the play offs, the answer was no to both and to even sing that on your biggest days after spending years claiming it wasn't a rivalry is mega embarrassing.

You're all still wound up about it a year after the fact, so I'd say we did indeed get a rise out of you.

A huge difference between getting a rise and getting an almighty cringe.

I’d say it’s been something of a rivalry the last few years. During last season, Lincoln were barely spoken about until the chants surfaced. And then that cringe banner a few weeks has blown it all massively over the top. For them to come out with that after less than a season above us leaves me thinking “why?!”. There are some right weird Lincoln fans on Twitter who have a problem with us and act like they’ve always been the superior club.

Of course, this does correlate to the ‘newer fan’ element, as I expect many of the older fans to know the past and recent history of both clubs.

He's off balance, and the elbow isn't raised. It's not a red. He's not the most graceful footballer in the world so the collision was unavoidable.

Seen the Times' headline says the game was 'marred' by this, absolutely ludicrous.
His elbow was raised and he changes the direction of his 'stumble' to make sure it connects with the keepers' neck.

Think that handball looks worse in slow motion - he was leaning against the post and to me it looks as though he is pulling his arm away, but with the sheer speed the ball has hit it at the same time the slow motion makes it look as though he's punched it. Don't think it is intentional though, so no penalty.
Referees can be very inconsistent in what they interpret as 'intent', a lot of them will seem to take the view that if your hand is somewhere it doesn't need to be and the ball hits it then a penalty will be given, so that players can't hold their arms out in positions that would block a shot without them needing to move their hands towards the ball. You certainly seen those given. You could argue that if that's never a penalty, some teams will start putting a hand on the post as a way of blocking more of the area in front of goal.

Always seen you lot as our no.1 rival, after all we were formed to stop you winning the county cup(when county cups meant something LOL!!!).
I do believe its some of your posters on here and the fishy that don't see us as a rival.

He got away with one imho as for the penalty some times they're given and sometimes they're not.#
We've had no luck for years maybe it's just our turn for things to go for us.

Funny so many of you have seen the game considering how much you bang on about boycotting it..

O well me and my daughter had a great day and if anyone had said to me 2 years ago we'd have got to the fa cup quarter finals, go back in the EFL, won the Checkatrade and have a chance of getting to league 1 I wouldn't have believed you as we were going nowhere.

I didn't watch it. Have never seen a Chuckatrade minute since the B team decision.

However I wish you and Lincoln's older supporters no malice, but Impish and some of your new found fans can 'ram it'.

Great day out and I thought the football club were very classy - from the memorial page(s) in the programme, the mascots, allowing Colin Murphy to lead the team out. We're in such a great place and the connection between club and fans are at an all time high. Lots of ex Imps - which again shows what this club means - Matt Alexander, Raggett, Dickie, Yeo, Clucas just to name a few.

More "football fortune" to push this club on, whatever division we're in next season, we're in such a strong position to keep building this club and push past our local rivals both on and off the pitch.
Were they in the match day one? I bought one, put it down without reading it and some bastard pinched it!

No mate only in the special edition which I've ordered, really glad I did now as we were at the front and it would have a soggy mess by the time I got back to the coach! The £3.35 p+p was a bit steep mind!

Wasn't aimed at you but the others who go on about the boycott but must have watched the game as the commented during the match.
Our club didn't get to vote but have said on more than one occasion we vote against it as they see it as wrong. I do think its wrong too just glad we beat both u21 sides we played especially Chelsea who's tactics were clearly to take the game to pens from kick off! All that talent and they weren't interested.
Yeah we all some 'interesting' posters shall we say, reading the fishy and our boards proves that!

I stopped using The Fishy about five seasons ago, too full of idiots and knobs. This is the only football forum I now bother with, as most posters are almost normal.

Fishy isn't that bad, there's some shite to sieve through at times but to have a forum so active is rare at this level. I very very rarely contribute but there's some alright posters on there.

I'm pretty sure it was the birthplace of operation promotion etc.

You get to know the idiots on The Fishy. I think that on the whole 95% of posters are spot on and have helped me to raise over £1500 for The Mariners Trust over the past few seasons thanks to The Fishy Buster Competition that I run.

Genuinely just heard about Lincoln winning the trophy, I didn’t see anything about the final anywhere at all.

Congrats.

You couldn’t make this stuff up - shameless!

Poor little Rhead getting roughed up haha

Convenient that media darling Cowley didn’t see the ‘challenge’ on our keeper....

Funniest thing about that article is the ‘he gets lots of physical treatment and always gets manhandled’ when in reality as soon as anyone goes near him he drops to the floor that quick that you’d think somebody had just dropped a Mars bar on it the fat grotesque cheating lump of shit.

County cups still mean 100x more than this charade of a competition

Yep just like all the Lincoln fans on Twitter who claim the same whilst calling our manager a paedo, conveniently forgetting he was at Lincoln a few years back.

I am genuinely slack jawed in amazement (like most people from Grimsby lolololol) at this "Lincoln fans didn't think Grimsby are their rivals" thing. It's incredible.

If you started going when I did (99/00ish) then since Grimsby were so far above us, they weren't really thought of. The big games were Hull and Scunthorpe. Maybe that's where it comes from? But it's hard to have a rivalry with a club you don't, yknow, play games against.

Now, and pretty much constantly since you joined us in League 2 back in 2004 (?), it's the biggest game of the season. I've never seen or heard a Lincoln fan claim otherwise.

County cups still mean 100x more than this charade of a competition

Not true though is it. Did 40k Cov fans go when they last won the Warwickshire cup?

The Shrewsbury boycott to this competition has been well supported by Salop fans...
Only 5,800 tickets sold and very strong feelings objecting to premier and Championship B teams in a lower league competition.

Admittedly this will be the fourth visit unlike Lincoln who have never been to the old or new, but on previous occasions we have taken around 25,000 and will take the same if we end up going in the play-off final.

Jesus just skimming through the thread and noticed this little gem, how many did you take to the play-off final again? Even little tinpot Rovrum took more than you lot, then again you must have been boycotting the pies or something. Good job. Glad Lincoln beat you.
