Beat me to it this year as I didn't know it was due today!

We've been drawn away to the winners of Fakenham Town vs Wellingborough Town, so it could be an early return to the Dog and Duck very soon after leaving!

We played Fakenham Town in the Vase a few years back now, though that was at home. We're obviously rather familiar with Wellingborough Town too!

We've got either Brimscombe and Thrupp or Sun Postal Sports at home

We had Sun Postal Sports last year away in the 1st Qualifying Round and won 2-0. Never played Brimscombe and Thrupp before

Ah times change, I remember us losing to someone called Sidlesham at this stage ten years or so ago.

Did Wellingborough evict you?

Did Wellingborough evict you?

Private landlord apparently didn't like us for some reason. Kicked out both clubs (activated break clause in the lease) with the hope of selling the site for redevelopment as per the estate right next to the Dog and Duck that has been developed recently in to commercial units (from vacant). When nobody came close to his asking price he allowed Wellingborough to sign a new lease. Apparently for whatever reason it was not possible for us to come to a ground share agreement with both WTFC and the private landlord (though it has not been confirmed which party/parties were unwilling or unrealistic in negotiations).

You can read in to that what you like, WTFC did not kick us out directly at least. It's common knowledge that some involved with WTFC did like us, and some didn't. Frankly they are going to see a big reduction in bar revenues from having us gone, as well as the loss of facilities such as the terrace (which was made to be removable), and the turnstiles that we put in etc. If they somehow colluded with the landlord to get the lease ended and get a new one without us then it's quite short sighted and financially potentially damaging for them.

In the coming days I will make a posting on the southern league thread or make a new one to go into the details more of where we will be playing this season.

BBC are planning to broadcast online a game in every round. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40770123

Mixed thoughts on this personally, it'll be good to have the BBC shining a light on the different teams and making more people realise that the cup really does start much earlier etc, but then again it's also going to be extremely condescending coverage I'm sure.

What's more is that it's highly likely to focus almost exclusively on clubs that are phoenix sides, or the like. Maybe I shouldn't complain about this as we come in at the next round, but the decision to show the game involving AFC Liverpool rounds this out. It seems unfairly biased towards the bigger sides even at that level.

I also cannot currently see how much the clubs will get for this (if anything...).

That's Tranmere vs Wrexham/Salford nailed on for the final prelimary round then.

BT Sport have previously been showing one in the 4th qualifying round most years. There will now (presumably) be 2 games televised at that stage.

The more coverage of these earlier rounds the better IMO. Although I totally see where you are coming from with the patronising coverage.

Shame the prize money in the earlier rounds wasn't increased a tad little more than what it is compared to the later stages in the competition.

Final winner £ 1,800,000 - Final runners-up £ 900,000
Semi-final winners 2 £900,000 - Semi-final losers 2 £450,000

S4C has shown our prelim games on the Tele before (Cambridge Utd away and Woking at home iirc) which is always a treat for the other team as the commentary is in Welsh so it's like watching your team play in Europe.

Semi-final winners 2 £900,000 - Semi-final losers 2 £450,000

In the final 2 clubs get a total of £2.7M

In the extra preliminary round 170 clubs get £1,500 - a total of £2,550,000

In reality it's not that bad actually. For the level it's a sensible amount. It could always be more, and I would like it to be more for the positive effects it can have on well run clubs, but equally you may get clubs run just for a good go at the FA Cup run for the money, and then let the expensive squad go when the money is gone (which reduces stability for players and clubs).

For my money it's silly to give the losers of a round more money, it should just go in the prize money for the previous round, but that's a different issue.

Not sure if they showed a game last season, or which one, but the year before they showed Margate vs FGR. I mostly remember because we caught some of it in the bar before the game at Barwell.

From memory I think the clubs only got about £4,000 for being on TV for that - which seems scandalous based on the fact there is £67,500 each for the teams in first round games.

No game for Diamonds today, last friendly last night, so an eye on the FA Cup today for me. Fakenham vs Wellingborough the most interesting due to being our opponents in the next round, but a fair few games involving UCL teams that are of interest. Will also be interesting to see how Rugby do away at Coventry United, they should be two of the better sides in the Midland League, and Rugby appear to have a strong squad.

Diamonds will indeed return to Wellingborough Town in the FA Cup now, after they beat Fakenham 2-0.

Elsewhere interesting results include Rugby Town beating Coventry United 2-1 despite playing with 10 men for 70 mins. If anywhere takes bets on step 5 leagues I'd say they're probably good money for that division...

Our game was a 1st round match - we got dicked and understood nothing from the commentary except them saying "Joey Jones" all the time.

Saw Sheppey United beat AFC Croydon 3-2 in front of 260+, hoping they can give Hastings Utd a decent contest in the next round.

South Shields v Bridlington to be broadcast live on the BBC Website this Saturday in the Preliminary round.

Fans will be able to watch the match on PC, mobile or connected TV as well as on demand on BBC iPlayer while it will be featured across the corporation's social media channels.

I would imagine it will hopefully further improve the profile of the club and give people the opportunity to watch it who might not have the chance to be at the game.

Both clubs are set to receive a £1,000 TV fee after being chosen to front the preliminary round with Match of the Day's Conor McNamara and Danny Webber booked to cover the tie which has also been brought forward to kick off at 12:30pm.

Cambridge City 1 - 0 Stamford. The Daniels were perhaps a bit unlucky to not get a replay. In the first half, they looked to offer the greatest threat, with more balls in the box and efforts on goal but without any great quality. Both sides were well organised but City lost their main striker in the first half with a facial injury. In the second half, the ref (and linesman) seemed to lose patience with Stamford's constant niggles and fouls, giving more and more free kicks, before an agressive man and ball tackle reduced them to 10 men - on the say of the linesman. Eventually, City's youngsters showed their ability, briefly, against the tiring 10 men and then held on for the win.

Stamford brought a decent away following but the novelty of FA Cup football faded early this season.

Good to see Ian Miller enjoying his football and organising the City defence. Disappointing that Jon "Challenger" Challinor didn't make it on the pitch for the Daniels. U's have a decent, if light weight, winger coming through in Tom Knowles.

Wellingborough Town 0 - 4 AFCR&D

I couldn't go so I had to follow on twitter, but I'm pretty pleased with that. We missed a penalty, rarely seemed threatened, and got the job done early enough to make some changes for minutes rather than tactics. No mentions of knocks too, so presuming that there were no injuries a very successful first outing in the FA Cup for us this season.

Hopefully the draw will be kind to us in the next round. Potton making it through last night will be seen as one of the more favourable draws, being a step 6 side. Remember that the step 3 sides come in at this stage too, so plenty of difficult ties possible.
