First psf defeat of the season at the hands of K's last night ...

Guess you always know what to expect when playing Kingstonian .. a number of big units in the side - apart from the keeper bizarrely who I doubt would reach the bar even when he jumped. Mind you, no-one bigger than good old Sappleton, but after losing a 12 yard race when given 10 yards start he looked a decent centre back as did Page. Quite impressed with Turner on the left wing too.

OK first half with more possession for K's though no clearcut chances. Fantastic strike that led to K's opening goal, then bettered by Purcell's equaliser. Wall made it 2-1 just before half the Hornchurch team were subbed. Couple of late K's goals in quick succession gave them the win. Entertaining game - lovely pitch and good facilities. I do like Fetcham Grove.

Next up - whilst the K's enjoy a trip to Gibraltar we'll be hosting Kelvedon Hatch from the Olympian League.

Hopefully we'll start to settle on a consistent starting 11 soon rather than the mixed bag we've employed in the friendlies to date.

Blimey Riverside - good work here, but you do realise it's still the middle of the cricket season and nobody is watching? Any sign of PP or the other K's bloke/ lass? Though as true Surrey-types I'd expect them to be glued to cricinfo, (and yes - Surrey may have stuffed us in the twenty20 but WHO are 29 points clear* at the top of the County Championship?)
.
I shall see you in September (though I may sneak along to the WHU game wearing a false moustache/ hipster beard).

* for now

Ha :bg: Not really the cricket type myself. Football is the only sport that ticks my boxes.

Following on from our heroics in actually managing to just about defeat a team from the level below us, we did a mini tour to Gibraltar where we beat Lynx FC 2-1 but came back to be on a semi worrying* 1-5 spanking from landlords & divisional rivals Leatherhead in our last warm up game for the season.

(* only semi worrying because it was 2 days after our game in Gibraltar so it wasn't a full strength side)

Off the field we've lost influential midfielder Joe Turner to Tonbridge Angels but replaced him with Jack Parter (Welling United - loan), Reyon Dillon (Corinthian-Casuals) & a new back up keeper in Mo Otoyo (Hayes & Yeading).

So my already lacking optimism for the season is waning after pre season is over. Who do we have first in the league? An easy start at home against a team which will struggle this season? No... shit or bust merchants Billericay Town away... :brill:

Brazilian trialist signs Worthing deal

Brazilian-born goalkeeper Lucas Covolan Cavagnari has signed a 1-year contract after completing a successful pre-season trial with Worthing FC.

The 26-year-old started his career in his homeland for Brazilian Seria A club Atletico Paranaense, while also lists Spanish side Union Deportiva Alaro' as a former club as well as near-neighbours Whitehawk for whom he appeared in the National League South last season.

Thank you Kingstonian. Now let's hope Lowestoft can do the same...

Margate have announced the signing of 23 year old striker Jordan Chiedozie.

The former Concord Rangers striker joins Steve Watt's side on a two year deal and will stay at Hartsdown Park until 2019.

Two year deals in the Isthmian... has Margate learned nothing from the past few years? Or are they just working on the basis that at least Billericay would end up a worse state than them?

Nope. Makes me wonder why people are attracted into investing in a club like Margate though.

He got a deal with Cambridge Utd on the basis of a wonder goal he scored for Concord Rangers against Mansfield Town in the FA Cup a couple of seasons ago. Now's he going to be playing at a lower level than he was with Concord!

http://www.isthmian.co.uk/the-bostik-friday-interview-making-dreams-come-tru-38648

The Friday interview features Gary Alexander of Greenwich Borough this week.

By the way, I'm going to write a series (it was going to be a single feature but I've had far more of a response than I expected) on supporters who have abandoned the Premier League for the Isthmian League. I don't need any more Man Utd fans- I already have five, and they're nearly all from Tonbridge- and I have fans of Palace, West Ham, Liverpool and Arsenal lined up, but if you'd be interested in telling me what turned you from the big money game then please send an email! townsendaround@gmail.com

Dulwich Hamlet have confirmed the signing of former 22-year-old left back Frazer Shaw.

The former West Ham United youngster made 39 appearances for The Hamlet in the 2014/15 season and earned a move into the professional game signing for Leyton Orient and then Accrington Stanley.

Recently Shaw has been with both East Thurrock United and Woking respectively.

Oliver Sprague has returned to Hendon on a season long loan from Billericay, and will be available to play on Saturday.
Ollie joined Billericay midway through last season but has been unable to break into their side this campaign.
He won't be able to play against Billericay.

Tamplin' effort at rebuilding the Billericay ground look rubbish, much inferior to Salford's.

If anyone wants to relive Ks glorious victory over the 'Ricky there are some highlights, courtesy of Billericay Town tv. Goal from 16:52 (and some audible chants of "We're the c*** in your jungle" from 17:30 )

Squad numbers in the Isthmian is just wrong.

Having been obliterated at Staines on Saturday, we've just arranged ANOTHER friendly with AFC Hornchurch, this time at their gaff tomorrow evening.

Also FA Cup 1st Qual draw has been made so we get to be unceremoniously dumped out by either Colliers Wood United or Shoreham, whoever wins their replay.
