Having been obliterated at Staines on Saturday, we've just arranged ANOTHER friendly with AFC Hornchurch, this time at their gaff tomorrow evening.

Don't really see the point of this given the Saturday / Monday schedule coming up .. but it'll give me something to do tonight. Kick off now slightly earlier at 7:30pm.

Decent start to the season for us - 3 games, 3 wins, 7 goals, 0 conceded and an FA Cup tie vs Stowmarket Town or Romford. Would prefer the former as not been there + we play Romford this coming Monday in the league.

So, we apparently won the latest game in the 2017 K's-Hornchurch exhibition world series 5-3 by unofficial accounts. Did you end up going Riverside?

I did Paddy though I decided not to post our usual in-game match tweets and instead savour the atmosphere of a virtually empty Bridge Avenue spectating upon players nobody knew.

I jest of course - we had 6 of the first team squad out (2 of them regular starters) but we did give plenty of gametime to 5 of our academy lads whose ages ranged from 15 to 17.
By all accounts your team was lacking first 11 too as stated by one of your regular players who was making full use of our running track by doing various pre-game 70 yard sprints.

Sappleton made full use of the evening too by bagging an excellent hat-trick the second of which was extremely tidy as he turned on a sixpence and volleyed into the roof of the net from 14 yards.

The real disappointing thing is when I look at our fixture list the only matches thus far with a rouge hue are those against the K's.

TBH 1100 in the Isthmian isn't bad going and far bigger than they were getting this time last season.

See K's got thumped again, karma for beating the heavenly Bill and Ricky? (Joking)

I'm very, very concerned about us. Nine goals conceded in two matches. We look to have issues everywhere as we're leaking goals and doing very little at the other end (one goal in four is extremely poor, and that from a counter attack in the 93rd minute). Always a big question as to whether we'd be able to replace Moss, and we've clearly not managed it.

Thank fuck there's only one relegation spot this year, that's all I can say. The silence from the board, as usual, is deafening. Where is this club going? I know these are difficult times and we're somewhat in limbo but we need more clarity about our future. Keep treading water like this and we'll die.

Squad numbers in the Isthmian is just wrong.
Billericay clearly didn't have permission to use them as they lined up 1-11 at Dulwich and you could see the imprints on the backs of the shirts where players' names had been removed. It must be nearly twenty years since Aylesbury United used squad numbers (but no players' names) in our league with permission but it didn't catch on.

Everyone with any common sense will understand that, but with the owner/manager shooting his mouth off about getting a lot more he's set himself up for ridicule now it hasn't happened. He seems to want everything yesterday.

98/99 was the season Aylesbury used squad numbers in the season where we beat them to the title. Happy days

Didn't Wealdstone use squad numbers in the Isthmian once too? I could be making that up. Aberstone will clear this up for me I hope!

We won our game last weekend, so what do I know  And we've already made some additions. Being 7 points ahead of the one relegation spot probs means I ought to stop worrying for a while. Still not sure there's a lot of goals in this side, mind.

It's a small seaside resort town in Essex, south of Clacton.
North London is representing well with Hendon and Wingate and Finchley 2nd and 3rd!

A new series starting today features supporters who have given up long term attachments to Premier League teams for the Non League game. There'll be a new article every day until Friday but here's the first:

http://www.isthmian.co.uk/its-better-down-below-part-1-from-anfield-to-hamle-39705

I think it might resonate with many of you. After all, football without supporters is just 22 people and a bag of wind.

Certainly didn't expect to smash Harlow 6:0 yesterday given recent poor performances that have included going out of the league cup at Walton. 4 wins from 8 games so far in the league isn't bad going considering we just about dodged relegation last season.

Even with limited resources and a small budget any side managed by Craig Edwards for the entire season is unlikely to finish much below halfway. He's a non-league Sam Allardyce in that respect.

Well, go on then.

Back by popular demand & in no way linked to the fact that I only do this when K's feature near the top of the table... THE BULLSHIT MULTI COLOUR TABLE (Top 5 only) sponsored by Bostik - the glue you can sniff all day long.

1. That's a nice '1' in your L box there lads (PLD: 8, PTS: 21)
2. Having your own ground now seems to have many on field benefits, not being shit is one of them (PLD: 10, PTS: 21)
3. Preparing to bottle the play offs again, but only if the materials for the bottle are ethically sourced (PLD: 10, PTS: 20)
4. I've got a nosebleed (PLD: 10, PTS: 19)
5. Can't wait for these guys to get lumped in the new Step 3 league next year so we don't have to play football in Narnia or wherever the fuck East Anglia is (PLD: 8, PTS: 18)
