This post is pretty much a case study in why the rest of League Two have taken against Coventry City, to be honest.

This is interesting as Coventry selling as many play off tickets as they did basically funded each L2 squad next season...

Had we lost today, I really think CCFC would've been on the final path to extinction. We wouldn't have been able to keep this team together, and another cut to the playing budget would have seen no chance of a challenge next year. This game was massive to the very existence of this club. As the way its gone, I'm going to stick my neck out and say we will be back in the Championship by 2021.

My commiserations to Exeter, losing two years in a row at Wembley must be horrible. The only downer today is that we had to beat such a fine bunch as Exeter to achieve promotion.

Good luck Grecians, win the league next year for the sake of football.

So true. We'd have been in non-league within 2 years.

If we hadn't been able to manage promotion this year, how would we have done it following another player budget cut?
My comment is in relation to him saying you’d have been relegated to non league in 2 years, not about your promotion chances.

Is it true that PUSBCCFC didn’t actually celebrate any of Cov’s goals today, and the only time he jumped from his seat and started cheering was when the attendance was read out?

Haha!

Not long been back in. Watching the goals. Phenomenal. What a day.

Fuck off Tim Fisher and Joy Seppala.

Congratulations to Coventry. The better team on the day albeit in a game with little quality bar the first and third goals, which were totally out of the blue and out of keeping with the rest of the game.

From about the half hour mark, Exeter were hitting Stockley early but never got anyone around him to pick up his knocks downs.

Coventry perhaps a little lucky to keep 11 on the pitch with that Doyle incident.

As a neutral looking on, the first half was fucking dreadful to watch but a vast improvement in the second half. Icing on the cake was I had fifty quid on over 2.5 goals. Smashing....:ohy:

Really tough one to take yesterday. Wembley isn't a nice place to lose, and even less so for a second season running. Coventry were better than us on the day and look to have more quality than we do. Spoke to some of their fans after the game and they were a good bunch. Wish them well next season.

On reflection Tisdale and the team did remarkably well to get us to finish 4th and into the playoff final. We lost Watkins and Wheeler from our side last season and somehow won more games and finished higher in the league. We've had a squad this season which is low on genuine match winners but we have grafted and fought our way to scrappy wins all season and almost made it all the way to league 1.

Will Tis still be here next season? I don't think so. The transcript from his post match interview is a fascinating read. Hope it gets sorted soon one way or another. If he does walk it will be a shame he couldn't have gone out on a high. He is unquestionably our greatest ever manager and he's a massive reason the club is currently in its healthiest ever position off the field.

It could be an interesting summer.

Exeter losing Perryman as well. Could be a tricky season for them coming up.

surely less of a bottle job than losing a home semi final?

No, the referee bottled it Denzel, I’m almost certainly saw what Doyle did.

Notts aren’t the first and wont be the last team to lose their home play off semi final. It’s not that unusual tbh

No worries mate, I’m a better than that.
Most teams who get to the playoffs and especially the final have done very well

Reflecting on yesterday.

Incredible day out at Wembley once again. Green man was brilliant.

I've supported Coventry for over 25 years and have continued to to follow them across the country despite living down south. I watched 20 games in all conditions from the hill in a Northampton as the club was taken away from us. I have seen 3 relegations, 3 administrations, many points deductions and an outrageous lack of success. Yesterday, the majority of Coventry fans saw their club promoted for the first time in their lives. It was incredible. Almost worth the shambles we have had to endure.

The only thing that would have made it better would have been if Tim Fisher didn't have his hands on the trophy after the game.

Agree with this. Makes getting soaked at Forest Green Rovers worth it!

Been some terrible days away this season. Morecambe, Forest Green, Accrington and Yeovil to name a few! All worth it.
