Surely you wrote that with at least a grin on your face. This is Coventry City FC moving up from L2 to L1 , or in old money 4th to 3rd tier. Boy if a club’s fan base needs some success it’s the sky blue army surley?

Not a great bank holiday for Exeter sporting teams. And back to back years to boot . Double ouch
Anything that pisses nutts fans of IMOis great imagine view from the kop is lively now all the mugpies saying it should have been them

A left footed screamer from the right back now! When it’s your year, it’s your year, I suppose.

Thank **** for that, you would have to be a relative if Ebenezer Scrooge to wish too much ill on Cov in their current situation and recent past. The lowest placed , aka sh!t , genuine big club, in the football league, a well known managerial graveyard, and with all the off field stuff, I certainly don’t mind cov getting back into the old division 3

Turning into a bit of a fisting, Exeter have been dire today, possibly last season haunting them and the pressure being too much?

I thought Exeter were on top in the first half and Coventry should have been down to ten men which then changes everything.

Great goal tbf but I just can't bring myself to want Cov to go up after those two semis, esp. the one at Meadow Lane. The ref and the linos would've been looked at for match fixing if that game was played in some well known country for corruption.

That’s because basically that’s all you’ve got, some Mansfield fans are so cute.

Being a more elderly Stags fan, with all those years supporting the struggling Stags under your beIt I fully understand your viewpoint. Must of been tough lol

I’ve always had a soft spot for Coventry as a Leicester lad so deep down I’m happy for them. They could’ve carried themselves a lot more classily around the semi-final and Michael Doyle is clearly a terrible human, but can’t say i’d have been much different in their position tbh.

That and getting rid of them is good for next season really.

Not sure I totally get what you're saying but if it were Accy and Notts playing today, then we should want you lot to go up because you're the (much) bigger club?

Only 61 and probably fitter than a lot of the young buggers on here 50 km bike rides and swimming most days instead of staying in cheap hotels and doing a travel blog

You were right you didn’t get what I was getting at Vanni.

Best performing team in play offs gets promoted, just like best 3 sides in this league over course of a long season.

Cov have been just that

Exeter surely deserve to go up by now though. I don't feel that just because Coventry are new down here, we should feel that sorry for them or that they deserve promotion just because they are a big club as opposed to Exeter who have consistently played good football and been in the promotion chase.

That sounds fun :err: but what’s that got to do with the playoffs, this final or supporting the little Staggies for so long in the lower leagues and non league ?

You on the cheap beer again?

Not a good sporting Bank Holiday for Exeter, first the Chiefs and now this.

Really? At this level they give an extra automatic space, if you aren’t good enough to be Top 3 in this basement division I’m not sure you can claim much bad luck or what you do or don’t deserve. You enter the playoffs aka the lottery

And by the same logic you can't say that Coventry deserve promotion more than Exeter just because they're a big team.

Exeter only really have themselves to blame. A bit unlucky with Doyle not seeing red but they looked so flat.

I never said that. Read it again. I said they were the most deserving play off side to get promotion as they performed the best over the 2/3 games.

Be interesting to see how Exeter do without Tisdale now. Some of those ridiculous fans will be left with egg on their faces when they inevitably struggle without him...

The same Tisdale who was two games away from taking them out of the FL after a home defeat to all but relegated Torquay just a few seasons ago?

He's done well for them but I'm not convinced he's the be-all-and-end-all (I will be happy to be corrected by Exeter fans on this) - whoever succeeds him will be taking over a good squad with the club in a healthy state.

Not only Tisdale. Stockley will be off - and any other decent player they may have. Saying that, none of them did themselves much good today

Well done Coventry, stopped the slide and this could be the start of a recovery, far too big a club to be in the fourth division. Is the owners finally back Robins then they could be competitive in League One easily. As for Exeter they should be trying all they can to keep hold of Tisdale, the fact some of their fans actually want him out is mind blowing.

Got you Viking. Yeah they're a good side and play some nice stuff, but then again so do Exeter, and the latter did not rely on dodgy refereeing to make the final.

Such a shame Exeter's better players like Stockley and Boateng didn't turn up today though. Would've a different story if they did.

Anyways, well done Coventry and good luck next year.
