I'm getting married this weekend (saturday). The only reason I agreed to it being this saturday is that I knew we were swapping dates with the Championship final so I would be fine to go to Wembley on the Monday.

One of the wedding guests however is a Villa fan.... poor bastard is gonna be sitting through the best man speech furiously pressing refresh on his phone....

All the best.

The last time I knew of someone getting married on here was Dan_Macclad and he went missing for 18 months or so!

"Bank Holidays are traditionally quieter times". Not when Villa, Cov and Shrews are all coming from the Midlands, you complete berks.

Love the fact Network Rail said they plan years in advance and they have no idea what teams reach the final. How about don't plan anything on a weekend that always has playoff finals for routes that head to London?

Well big day nearly upon us. Bloody train chaos whatever direction you are coming from, I'm coming in from Norwich and its two bus changes into Liverpool street.
We've sold over 40,000 as of today which is great when considering we are hosting the Radio 1 big weekend as well so lots of younger fans may be deciding to stay for that.
I feel after the champions league final tonight and fans with no tickets see the atmosphere in Kiev, they may decide to buy because they don't want to miss out on a good day supporting Cov
Can i please ask very nicely, could Exeter City FC please not beat us and spoil what would be otherwise a great day out.
Thanks very much

We’ve now sold 11,200 apparently. So will be just shy of 50,000.

Can’t wait now although I really can’t call how this one will go. Two good teams each with one of the best lower league strikers. Some great young talent on both sides. It probably end up 0-0 aet ha ha.

Say Moomin, do you recall how many you took to the Conference Final back in 2008 when you beat us 1-0? Total att. was 42,511 and IIRC we took over 24000, so you must've had at least a good 15000.

I'm not willy waving or anything, and I do appreciate that Camb is closer to Wembley than Exeter.

I sometimes think doing this on a bank holiday weekend and what is the start of the half term for a lot of people is both a blessing and a curse. Kids are off, parents might have booked time off as well. But on the flip side, with the weather being nice, people might want to go away for the long weekend or even the entire week, and therefore won't be spending almost £100 per person to go to the play-off final, especially if you are a casual fan who went in the past. The recent past as well if you're from the Coventry area.

Best of luck to both teams anyway, they play good football and have some very good players. Would prefer Coventry to stay down for geography reasons, but I wouldn't be bothered if they do go up, their fans deserve some success.

There's also the neutrals as well. So could be as high as 55-60k?

Coventry hosting BBC's biggest weekend didn't help.

If you're one of the big day bandwagon brigade who had tickets to a festival, you wouldn't cancel to go to Wembley.

As well, both clubs having a week to sell tickets and to organise travel is difficult. Many people are on holiday or live abroad and will struggle.

Fair fucks to Cov for selling so many, and they probably won't agree, but I would much rather this was played at a big league ground. Much fuller, fans much closer to the pitch, cheaper tickets, atmosphere infinitely better. If we'd got to the final I think we'd have sold somewhere between 15-20k, with Exeter's 11k it would be so much better then at Villa Park or somewhere then than 30-odd k knocking around Wembley.

I'd agree to an extent but it would only leave the likes of Old Trafford, Arsenal, West Ham and City. I wouldn't be arsed about any of those.

The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff is far better than Wembley.

I always thought it was 18-20k that year from us.

The year before we took 28,000 to the game vs Morecambe. The new Wembley had just opened so the number of day trippers was painful. I’m much more content with taking 12,000 this time as at least all of them will have been to see us play one time or another.

The year we went up in 2008, someone on our coach was asking what the name of our home ground was as he’d never been there. I wanted to punch him.

It isn't. Millennium stadium is steep as fuck and you don't get much leg room. Wembley (club Wembley in particular) is gangster.

Millennium stadium is probably better for atmosphere but it’s in Cardiff which ruins everything else.

Ground is in a better location within the city.

Wembley is well out of town.
