Just watched the Salford V Harrogate highlights. At around about 3:30 and 4:15 there are 2 chances for haughton to have a run at the defence and he chooses to go for a risky pass. Wouldn't choose to do that at Chorley. But then again he didn't really have anyone who could score he could pass it to.

Must have been a trial then cos it seems like he's joined us as he was playing for our U23's this week.

I guess so he must have been, he seems to have been on the bench for one club, and played for Kiddy U23's in the space of 3 or 4 days. And scored two fine goals in a 3-2 friendly win. Saying that It did say has been training with Andy Whing's group.

I hope he's between the posts on Saturday when we visit, that's the ground and not the local Psychiatric Hospital.
Shocking performance ... 3 of the 4 four goals were preventable with a moderately decent GK. I wonder what his manager said to him after the game. That Leamington show made Alfreton look quite classy.

Yeah he was shocking. Comfortably the worst visiting goalkeeper i have seen for a while. Was speaking to the Leamington manager after the game.He said he had been their best player over the past 18 months but is sometimes capable of a shocker every now and again. Clearly.

A few midweek games tonight.

Blyth v Alfreton
Harrogate v Stockport
Kidderminster v FC United
Leamington v Gainsbrough

Off to Blyth later for a mammoth midweek trek with renewed hope and belief. It was great to see smiles back on peoples faces at the club on Saturday after a really tough few months. Could really do with something from tonights trip if possible. Think a win is achievable, we beat Blyth on the opening day and Ferriby got their only win there somehow.

Is this Tony Breedon? Used to play for us. Decent shot stopper and quite good at commanding his area for a shorter goalkeeper, but is prone to mad dashes out of his area and rash decisions.

Fairly even first half between us an FCUM but second half we tore them apart. 2 goals within the first 15 minutes, the first came from the left as Ngwatala took his time to pick a low cross to the back post for Croasdale to tap home. econd came from a superb ball from Weeks to Sonupe who drilled the ball across goal Ironside claimed he got a toe onto it as it flew under the keeper. One of their players then loses his head after he miss-controlled the ball out for a throw-in and struck McQuilkin.

Going down to 10 men killed the game off and we got 2 quick goals after. One from new man George Waring a towering header that looped into the top corner and 2 minutes later Elton Ngwatala picked up a deflected shot and drilled it into the bottom corner.

Easy 3 points against a team who were on a ridiculous run having not lost to some of the top teams in this league.

Tony Breeden, the comedy keeper! He's played at Holker Street so many times, and he's been absolutely dreadful! Remember one time he got tackled when in possession about 40 yds off his line, but the thing that amused me most was that he always did a 360-degree spin before booting the ball upfield. Utterly bizarre.

Fantastic result for Alfreton with a 1:0 win up at Blyth, two wins on the belt leaves them 10 points of the play-offs. Certainly did Kiddy a good turn.
Not sure what to make of the Leamington result whether that's in our favour or not? They'll be fired up with confidence for Saturday with our absolute must win game.

Absolute suicidal display from the GK, as i say i hope he performs like that on Saturday? I know what his manager did say to him after the 2016/17 season. I'll give you the Manager's Player of the Season award :ohm:

Oh yes! Absolutely fantastic performance last night. Best away performancein nigh on 18 months that. A perfect away perfomance as we took our chance when it came, frustrated the paritizan crowd and defended resolutely. Blyth forced 15 corners but we never really looked in any danger of conceding. A brilliant save from Elliott from a long range effort the closest them came.

We are back. Playing properly again. 4 unbeaten up to 13th, First time we have had two consective away clean sheets since February/March 2015. Two winnable games coming up too at Gainsbrough on Saturday and at home to Tamworth we we can lift ourselves clear and try and finish with a top half finish, perhaps a bit late for a play off push

Just dissapointed we didnt get rid of John a month sooner. Clear he had lost the dressing room and did not have the respect of the players.

Frecklington must be under pressure at Gainsbrough after that painful defeat at Leamington.
Lose to us Saturday and he will be in big trouble.

Got a tinge of de ja vu there. Sure I said that last season!:dk:

Highlights of our game from Tuesday

Cracking header from Waring. Hopefully, he'll provide more goals like that.

We signed Winger Elliott Hodge on loan from Notts County for a month earlier this week. The 41st player to represent us this season. Need 13 more to beat Altrincham's total of 53 I think from last season

Former Lincoln Darlo/Aberdeen goalkeeper David Preece has joined as Goalkeeper coach too.

Very much looking forward to the derby game sat away at fcum.

Thought it would be postponed but two dry days should help. Big big game as sadly we have dropped into the relegation battle I expected in the summer, but 2 months ago I thought we’d dodged.

Unlike an Alfreton, Darlo, Nuneaton and co thus slide us not down to effort, the players are giving everything, but our smallest budget is catching up with us and that lack of quality in crucial areas means we play as good as anyone, but struggle to score and struggle to win.

Still a derby is ‘anything goes’ and gives us a chance, plus I think fcum have a weak side because like us talent got snapped up by budget teams, but their manager has done superb since taking over (my manager if season so far) I am hoping that midweek thumping has rattled them.

We shall take our biggest away following here, lots of respect both sides so a nice friendly rivalry

BigDaveCUFC I'm sure you've said countless times but what's the reason Curzon play their midweek games on a Monday?

I have not got the foggiest idea to be honest, it is a weird one, I wondered whether it was to try and play separate to the mass of manc professional games played on Tuesdays or more so could be down to the other facilities down there which may get preference on Tuesdays.

Certainly not for crowds I think more struggle to get Monday than tuesday

How Elliott Hodge got a move to Notts County this season after we released him is anyone's guess. He had 2 or 3 decent loan spells away from the Club when he was here and seems like he'll end up being National League North at the very best. Right winger, quite pacey but he just looks a young lad playing a mans game.

Wouldn't be shocked to see him turning out for Lincoln United, that kind of level, in a couple of years.

As for Preece, he did a good job with Farman. His kicking noticeably improved although he still couldn't get him to come for crosses! Intelligent guy and talks well.

Another round of games tomorrow then.

Boston v Blyth
Brackley v Salfor
Chorley v NFU
FC United v Curzon
Gainsbrough v Alfreton
Harrogate v AFc Telford
Kidderminster v Southport
Leamington v Darlington
Nuneaton v Bradford PA
Spennymoor v Tamworth
Stockport v York

Some big games at both end of the table tomorrow with Salford tracking to Brackley who are unbeaten at home. Massive game down the bottom with Leamington hosting Darlington.

Will be another huge crowd at Stockport too.

As for us. After the longest trip in midweek to Blyth we make the short trip to Gainsborough. Looking for a Third Straight win and a third consecutive away clean sheet for the first time in bloody ages. Unbelievably a win could put us in the top half should results go our way after being in the relegation zone on new years day.

Off to Leamington tomorrow for me, for the long trek down to Warwickshire. With both sides needing the win tomorrow, it should be a very interesting watch in front of a potentially decent crowd. I've never been to the New Windmill Ground before obviously with it been Darlo's first ever visit.

I'm looking forward to seeing our new signing Ben O'Hanlon from Harrogate Town, I have no doubt he'll definitely be playing to try and bolster our leaky defense. We've gotta win this one, I don't think a draw is any good. And a defeat would be a disaster?

Also have a watchful eye on the games at Gainsborough, Curzon, Nuneaton and AFC Telford. But at the end of the day our destiny is in our own hands now regardless of other results going our way.
