Very much so. He's been excellent since Christmas. Looking more like the player we thought we'd signed.
Never really liked him Chorley, but would have him back in a heartbeat right now. Was crap but could actually score goals!

Bollocks. Tighter than a ducks arse down the bottom. Watch Telford go and Win at Southport to tighten further.

We dropped into relegation zone after that..........30 goals scored only is the reason.

Oh well it’s still a dogfight, 12th is only 6 points off

Oh dear!! CFC4LIFE  Hazard a guess after the away win at Curzon. I'd probably be inclined to say the guy that ran the show Nick Haughton.

Fixtures on Saturday 3 Feb are looking even more important for points? That result down at Gainsborough has really put the cat among the pigeons.

Curzon Ashton vs Gainsborough Trinity
Darlington vs Blyth Spartans
North Ferriby United vs Leamington
Nuneaton Town vs FC United Of Manchester
Southport vs AFC Telford United

I find Trinity infuriatingly inconsistent and I couldn't care less whether they win, lose or draw!

They're relying heavily on their home form, though.

We signed Winger Elliott Hodge on loan from Notts County for a month earlier this week. The 41st player to represent us this season. Need 13 more to beat Altrincham's total of 53 I think from last season

Former Lincoln Darlo/Aberdeen goalkeeper David Preece has joined as Goalkeeper coach too.

Never been sure why we signed him but I think he’ll be decent at Conference North.

How is young Pierce Bird getting on?

I have been impressed. He scored on debut. Ok it was only North Ferriby but he stood out. A bit of youthful in experience got him a silly Red in the final minute against Darlington. He returned to the side and played a key role in a real good back to the wall 1-0 win at Blyth. He played on Saturday at Gainsbrough. I couldnt get myself and we fell to a disappointing 2-1 defeat.

We dont play again now before his loan expires. Hope it gets extended.

Re Hodge. He came on for the final 15 minutes at Blyth but got a concussion injury after a clash with their keeper so cant really comment.

We’ve just signed a centre back on loan from Brighton so unless someone from the level above comes in for him I can’t see any reason why it won’t get extended.

Seems like every day for me at the minute, although we have signed Alex newby from clitheroe on an 18 month deal. That is the one thing I am happy about. Another striker in, maybe one out? Hopefully carver but would guess at walker

I think you had Newby on trial in the summer, right? His goal record for Clitheroe recently has been insane, especially as he's a playmaking midfielder.

Only got a couple of run-outs for us, but looked very skillful. Him and his twin brother (Elliott at Telford) are the two locals that most hope return to Barrow eventually.

Walker will just be hanging on for the money then retire in the summer, surely?

Yes, we did have him on trial but for some reason said no, think that probably had something to do with the signing of Terry Gornell, but that was shortlived. Hopefully he will do the job for us, I understand Walker is on contract to end of season so you are probably right about him staying till then. Just hope this signals a new playing system, forget the hoofball.

Hope he's what he's built up to be. Wouldn't like to see walker retire, quality player

What happened to Terry Gornell?
He played a few times in pre-season and at the start then decided he wanted to concentrate on his business so retired from the game. He looked quality but we don't make it easy for strikers with our style so I think he saw the writing on the wall and got out whilst he still had his reputation intact.

He also voluntarily left early, was going to Australia at Christmas, head wasn't in the game and told Jansen that he's basically stealing pay and it's better for him to leave. Fair play to him.

Alex Newby has enjoyed a brilliant spell this season for Clitheroe with Goals (16) Penalty (1). I'm surprised they didn't step in for his team mate Kurt Willoughby he's got 21 goals. What a lethal partnership they had, must have been a real handful.

Kurt Willoughby tried and failed at Stalybridge. Some players can make the step up but there are plenty who can't (Sefton Gonzales for example).

In County news, we've released Ben McKenna. I quite liked him. Good tricky winger with a goal threat. I suspect he might end up at Curzon Ashton.

Anything with a goal threat we need at present, it’s getting frustrating to play teams off park and not even create one shot at goal.

5 Niall Cummins is what we need

BigDave do you reckon Monday's game could be off? Looking at the weather there's set to be snow and freezing temperatures on Sunday and Monday

I don’t see it being off. Been two good days, dry weather all week. Good weekend in Ashton.

Worry is -2 at night on Sunday but has all day to defrost.

It will just be cold, very very very cold. I have done Hartlepool in December and Oldham in December and for all their infamous ‘coldest ground in england’ tag I personally think it’s Ashton’s. being so large with so few in it when cold the wind just whips right through you, being a ground in wide open area don’t help it.

Good to know, see you in mid-February...hopefully there's bovril?

I've been to Hartlepool and it wasn't so bad - but Carlisle was baltic and I thought I was going to die of exposure at North Ferriby as the wind howled off the Humber estuary.

Not sure on bovril I will check Monday as I have to use food cabin for first time.

It’s a good one for train if using it just get train to Jidda then to Ashton, although my suggestion from York would be a train to stalybridge then use the superb buffet bar pub at station then head to Ashton by train or bus.
