I'd hardly call three promotions this century before this one being "in the doldrums", unless you mean in comparison to the old Accrington which this club is a continuation of.

Jason McGill happened to us.

He's a selfish tyrant who has crippled the goodwill of the fan base, presided over a period which has seen people driven from the club who genuinely love it simply for the crime of "wrong think" and he's allowed a bunch of chancers to leech off the club and become emotionally invested in manager after manager who he has always sacked way, way too late and often not utilised a proper recruitment process. Manager's have often come in when it's just too late to really do much and his "open wallet" policy means we've been stuck with a lot of crap we then can't shift so even if a new guy comes in he is limited in what he can really do.

We're a joke and in terminal decline, one which won't be averted until there is some change at board room level. Actual change too, not puppets as Jason pretend to have "resigned."
What's the latest over there? Last I read McGill had resigned with immediate effect and likewise McNamara.

Buyer(s) been found, or do you think McGill will still be trying to pull the strings behind others and without continuing the contribute financially?

I guess us and York are similar in terms of history and size. We seem to have retained a slightly higher level of support despite being stuck down here for 5 years!

First time we've made it to the play offs but I wouldn't bet on us winning them.

Essentially, McGill has "resigned" but it's readily apparent that the new board is just yes men who are essentially doing his bidding for him. It would not be surprising if he is going to wait for the deadline, come back and go "look at how much of a mess we're in without me" and then make another push for the shares. There has been interest, come April 30th I guess we will discover whether it's been serious or if Jason is just going to reject them as "unsuitable" regardless.

The SLO was sacked on a technicality and it's pretty obvious it was for daring to commit "wrong think", the answer to deteriorating fan relations is apparently a new play list of music (I am not even exaggerating). Crazy stuff.

Sorry you lot down at the bottom
Dont you dare repeat the trick on Saturday!

If anything sums up the National League North this season it is this -

Without Nuneatons 94 minute equaliser at Curzon on Monday we would be back in 19th despite our win at Brackley. Mad.

Think that leamington result tonight leaves it at two from three.....Curzon, Gainsborough and Tamworth........dont see any others involved because the fact Tamworth play Gainsborough.

we are our own worst enemies....flogging wins vs alfreton and nuneaton, saying that it could be lady luck saying it isn't going to be your year.

Maybe i sound bitter here but is this the single worst play-off group ever???............they all just constantly seem to have bad patches, awful shock defeats and numerous failures yet seem able to somehow....somewhere be able to actually get a promotion at the end of it. I am really struggling to remember many seasons where most of the teams don't deserve a chance.....probs only Brackley and Harrogate.

To be fair bottom of table could be finished come 5pm on sat i think it just needs defeats for both and neither can catch anyone.

One win away from guaranteeing 4th after tonight's results. Then go into the BPA with a weakened team ready for the playoffs.

I've seen that and I've seen 900k so somewhere in the middle on that waste of space of a team.
Accy are going to be 3 leagues above us next season with half the crowds and a smaller budget than we've had this season too.

Though looking at your team from Tuesday night I'm struggling to understand why they should fail to reach even 7th place in the 6th tier - one poster on the York Press site said it was the worst York side by a country mile - maybe so, but only two players from the starting line up (Adriano Moke and Sean Newton) lack substantial Football League experience. Is the problem that these players from disparate backgrounds and levels don't gel well as a team, they don't have enough goals in them, Parkin aside (none of them have prolific goal scoring records, and that is not necessarily going to instantly improve just because you drop into a lower division), or both? I'm guessing it might be a bit of both, because Chorley look like they might make the play-offs despite only scoring 45 goals - seems you don't need much more than a well-organised defence which for whatever reason York lack?

Another inspirational team performance tonight against Spennymoor Town, more or less similar to Saturday's victory down at FCUM. But without the endless chances that were created at the weekend.
Then again we were shade unlucky with a deflection in the 1st half, and also Wheatley missed a great opportunity of getting on the score sheet, and then came a moment of pure magic from Styche with another beautiful strike on goal 1-1. Get in!! Looked a bit familiar to his goal down at Alfreton outstripping the defender and bursting into the box.

I think we were caught napping in the 2nd minute and just didn't clear our lines, other than that cheap goal we gave away the defense was outstanding tonight. Heaton the giant has improved Galbraith's game, they are becoming a formidable partnership together. But for me my man of the match was Ben O'Hanlon he was some defender tonight never put a foot wrong. Thommo also had an eye-catching game with Wheatley.

Fuck knows what Joe Tait was trying to do with our second goal? But that gave me a chuckle, and yes Joe ye' shite! Spennymoor were a pretty decent side I can see why they are in the play-offs, but then again if we had another month we'd be in the play-offs. Unfortunately its gunna have to be next year?

All things considered another great following from the fans who made the short trip, especially with us having nothing to play for. I'm not entirely convinced over the so called attendance figure's no way 1,000 Spennymoor supporters in that ground tonight? New Year's day against Blyth Spartans they had an attendance of 1,066 - So my calculations are nobody turned up from Blyth?

Well the first of the decision weekends here.........think I got it all correct, but add below if wrong.

Alfreton vs FCUM
Blyth vs Stockport
BPA vs Harrogate
Curzon vs Spennymoor
Darlington vs Nuneaton
NFU vs Kidderminster
Salford vs Boston
Southport vs Brackley
Tamworth vs Chorley
Telford vs Gainsborough
York vs Leamington

So all the ridiculous amount of ways and means things can happen..........

Salford will win the title if they draw or win or Harrogate fail to win.

Brackley, Kidderminster and Stockport have confirmed play-offs and battle for the placements and home advantage.

Chorley and Spennymoor can confirm play-offs with wins and BPA/York failing to win and Blyth losing............other situations would see it continue.

Tamworth will be relegated if they fail to win due to GD (they could even drop with a win but cannot see all 4 above all winning) and for the GD reason Gainsborough will be relegated if they lose.

If Gainsborough draw they are relegated if Alfreton and Curzon pick up a point or more.

If Gainsborough win it will go into the last game with up to 4 other sides involved

We needed to beat Spennymoor if we had any chance of catching Brackley. Just want us to confirm our place in 4th on Saturday and start resting players.

Will also probably be our first and last game at North Ferriby as I can't see them returning to this level.

Yeah. Coming to the crunch now in this crazy relegation battle

Equation simple for us.
If we match Gainsbrough result and Tamworth fail to beat Chorley we are safe.

Still a little nervous ahead of tomorrow. A win would obviously be perfect but we need to make sure we dont lose the game.

We are down to the absolute bare bones.
Johannson has picked up an injury in training, Westcarr is suspended and wont play again this season and Elliott Green has buggered off back to Guiseley (good riddance). Then add in the Bradley Wood situation which I dont see effecting us that much but it certainly is not the best timing.

Hopefully the fact FC have confirmed Safety means they are not quite at it.

Got key victories late in the season against FC in the last two seasons. Fingers crossed for another tomorrow.

One of our supporters is celebrating his 2,000th consecutive game tomorrow. Not missed a game since 1981. Magnificent devoted support.Hope we can do him justice with the result.

I think you need the win as a I am unsure on us vs Spennymoor or Blyth I’m afraid.

Lost McKenna and Cummins to injury at present that is our goal scorer and creative player.........see no goals in us now.

We may hold them to a draw, in fact could see both playing for a draw

A bit of a tough game against a rugged resilient Nuneaton side, that at the end of the day we just couldn't seem to break them down. After Thursday's tough match against Spenny one or two player's looked tired, which their is no shame in that with the increasingly warm weather that the players have had to deal with over the last couple of day's.

I thought we should, and could of won today with one or two chances that we created throughout the game.
Nuneaton didn't really create much, other than a Brown mistake in which Pears got down well and dealt with it comfortably and a save from Chambers. Caton was unlucky in stoppage time with a brilliant shot, but just wasn't gunna be our day.

Again Ben O'Hanlon was outstanding throughout the game, and more or less the same players from Thursday Night that had decent performances today. A bit disappointed and frustrated with the result after having most of the possession and chances, but a points a point i suppose considering it was our second game in 48 hour's.

Once again I've seen another poor referee that really didn't have a clue what he was doing? How many's that this season? I've lost count.

Well i suppose congratulations are in order for Salford City in winning the National League North title.

And commiserations for the teams that we've lost to the EVO-STIK League. Gainsborough Trinity, Tamworth and North Ferriby United. Good luck next season for those clubs.

Yeah they'll be back i would imagine it's only the evo-stik..... maybe South Shields to fear?
I like going to Trinity, they have a nice little pub through a gap in the fence of the stoney car park at the back of the ground.

They came through with flying colors with 12 goals between them. I'd have had no finger nails left at these games.

Good call, what a game..... in fact what a comeback after being 3-1 down. Play-offs surely, after Spenny losing their last two.

Enjoy your weekends Big Dave, DSL and everyone else who'll be in Conf North next year.
Commiserations to Tamworth and Gainsborough.

Looks like we'll be facing the winner of Kiddy vs probably Spennymoor? Want to avoid Stockport - they really are owed a win against us after we've squeezed victories against them several times in recent years. Wish we could put out a reserve team for the last two games, but lack the players to do so.
Also have rescheduled the County Cup final in the middle of the playoff semi and playoff final dates... seems bizarre to me when again we don't have enough players for a reserve 11 if we were to win the playoff semi to play this game with.

Well what a day for this blooming site to have an upgrade :bl:

Ridiculous day yesterday, if i had not seen the Jimmy Glass goal i'd classed this one of the more weird relegation battles i've watched, not because of some moments or wild scenes but just because of the sheer number of 'shock' results over the last few weeks twisting and turning this battle up until yesterday which was at times taking the 'ridiculous' to even weirder levels.

Think i didn't spend most of the match actually watching the game, but instead watching my phone.....mobile updates have really added something to relegation battles (although i d miss the random shouts, whispers and rumours that used to hover around the crowds years ago on these days as 'so and so' may be winning/losing)

and sure DSL was in that same boat at me (apart from first result), it was.....

Alfreton winning.......urrghh
Tamworth winning............b*gger
Gainsborough winning......oh god
Leamington winning........crap bottom 3
Curzon score........Yes

Half time was blooming everyone winning by a goal and frankly a case of who held their nerves, but little group of Curzon fans i was around very nervy as we usually slip up somepoint.

Then it just became a very nervous second half because of course things for the bottom two got so much better.................then just collapsed

At one point yesterday we were drawing, and Gainsborough, Tamworth, Alfreton, Curzon Ashton, and Leamington were all winning, and we were right in the shit. We went 1-0 down at roughly the same time as both Gainsborough and Tamworth lost their leads again, and that left us mathematically safe despite us losing. I spent more time in the last 10 minutes of our match checking my phone for the scores than I did watching the game. There was no celebration at full-time though, we are on course for one of the worse seasons in our history, and survival in this league is not seen as an achievement.
