Blyth Spartans have announced the season-long loan signing of 21-year-old New Zealand international Sam Brotherton from Sunderland, as well as midfielder Connor Oliver, 24-year-old Oliver spent last season with Halifax Town.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Well Curzon vs Chester tonight, another big ex league side down at the nash........half the fixtures remind me of watching Carlisle back in the 90's down here.

splitting between Stalybridge and Curzon this season due to a new bairn, but should get to a good 12 home matches and going tonight and Saturday.

tough tough tough game, I think chester should do well, but i am hopeful of something tonight, it is one of them games over the last couple of seasons we can do well in, chester may come here a little bit billy big B*llocks when they see a home crowd of about 150 home fans (Best example for Chester fans of Curzon will be Leigh RMI)

but we have a major bonus on them tonight..............our stability. We have mostly the same gorup of players from the last 1-2 seasons all used to playing conf north level, they know the system, style, formations we play and approach and just have 1-2 additions who will fit quickly into it.

Chester of course have new managers, new team, new set-up.......better players and will 100% do better over the season, but it may take them 5-6 games to start to gel and i am hoping we can take advantage of this fact, plus if some of their team turns up in a half hearted 'should be a doddle' mode, plus thier fans start to get ratty and annoyed if not beating 'its only curzon' these things could play into our favour.

although my interest is mostly how we do in attack, I am confident defence in many games will be solid, confident in the workrate, confident our manager will know what he is doing, but am just unsure what we have going forward and that will make or break us in whether we finish 10th or bottom.

Brackley away for us tomorrow night.

Another tough game against last years play off finalists.

Brackley have lost a couple of key players but still have Armason and Byrne and a few other very good players.

Unfortunately I wont be able to make it but we do seem to have a good record there. Fingers crossed for a fouth win in four visits

Trying to jinx it I see.

We were really poor away from home last season and away games on Tuesday night against a full-time sides (even ones short of confidence) are always difficult.

2-0 down currently. Been an even match but difference is the quality going forward.

We had large chunks of play but only one real chance, although we flogged a beauty when through one on one.

Chester have had much less ball but have two goals and forced a couple of good saves from keeper........gaining much more off much less.

Their defence is vulnerable either as slow or learning to play together and we’ve got behind their defence numerous times but have no quality to punish it.

With their much better attack and our weak one could be a 3-4 defeat this game, gonna have to again find someone over season for attack

I didn't win the Conference Sub-Forum's Most Pessimistic Poster most years for no reason ;).

But in all seriousness, we are shite. We're full time and were blowing out of our arses against part-time Chorley (no disrespect intended) after proclamaitions of "fittest in the league" and other nonsense, we've got a bunch of serial failures and bottlers from when we got relegated still, they don't care, they won't show up and you should dispatch us. Nothing has changed over the summer, sadly it won't until McGill is out.

McGill seems to be putting the money in -you’ve kept all your higher earners by the looks of it (even if most of them should have been released) and added some decent signings on top.

Without him I reckon you’d be in big financial trouble.

However his decision making seems awful, in particular his choice of managers so I can understand your frustration.

Well tough away trip on Tuesday night at Spennymoor. I'm looking forward to seeing at least 800/1000 Darlo cheering the lads on at the Brewery Field.

Saying that Spenny love to do bit of defrauding with the attendance figures, a bit like last year when they swindled the attendance.

Guiseley have confirmed the signing of former Scunthorpe United player Jack Dyche on a non-contract basis. Dyche was an unused substitute in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Boston.

Just seen the highlights from the Stockport game. FC look very poor defensively however Willoughby up front could get goals for them, scored for fun at clitheroe and formed a formidable partnership with Alex Newby. Stockport will be up there and look a lot better than the last few seasons after they haven't had their annual clear out, looks like the squad will actually gel this year. Mulhern missed a few sitters though, Stockport may need a goalscorer just like we do.

He's not putting money in, he's loaning it against the equity in Bootham Crescent. Very important that this is made clear, he's getting his money back, all he's doing is wasting the clubs and alienating an increasing number of its fans along the way.
I imagine if you put it to wealthy businessmen that they could play around with a football club for a few years, especially in a City like York, and get their money back at the end of it, there'd be a decent sized queue and I find it hard to envisage how any of them could have done a worse job of it.

He’s putting it in because he will eventually get it all back when Bootham Crescent is sold next year, that’s something he conveniently leaves out when he talks publicly about all the money he puts in. They’ve always been loans against the equity in the ground never donations.

We would be in trouble not because it’s not viable to run break even but because it’s been his policy not to, to be fair. His decision making is horrendous and he’s shut himself away in his ivory tower, he certainly doesn’t speak to the fans and barely to his own business partners, the Trust.

It’s all rather grim! The legends game at Tadcaster we put on was good though, proud to be part of a more active Trust, shame I can’t justify the same feelings for the club anymore.

Alfreton are a good side, even though I think their style of play will be uglier than most times (not surprising with a Heath side). They'll be up their in contention i'm sure.

Defensively we look a bit suspect, I think 3-5-2 will work, however Johnson is yet to convince me that he is a ball-playing defender. Chambers looked a threat in the first half and was unlucky not to score, think him and Ironside will score a shed load this year.

I'm quite encouraged by the first performance, we aren't passing the ball just for the sake of it, a lot more exciting to watch. Big test tonight with Telford, they looked to have improved their squad in comparison to last season with a lot of ex Harriers, should be a tight one.

Just like old times for us last night. At least 2 thirds of the crowd and a very good game of football to which Curzon contributed. Unsegregated which was very good. Chatted with Ramsbottom and Salford fans, who were there to wish Bern and Jonno well. Also spotted Stockport fans.

Chatted with Josh Askew, a Salford player, who just wants to play games (but probably won't). Refreshing that despite being on a decent contract, he just wants to play. Also chatted with injured Chester players Scott Burton and George Green. It was great, apart from the win, to see players busting a gut for the shirt. It's been 2 years since we had that. Also heard that Bignot, Young and McCarthy were there. McCarthy really does have a personality disorder. Despite the fact that he nearly killed us last season he was there shaking hands with Chester fans. I know what I'd have said to him given the chance.

We had an escape early in the game, but went on to win comfortably in the end. Early days yet, but I've revised my prediction to believing that we will reach the play-offs. The crunch will come when we play the Stockports, Darlingtons and Yorks of the league.

Finally the proof that McCarthy was so rubbish last year is the fact that Stockport fans are saying that Turnbull runs games now. Last season he was either out with feigned injury or shite and disinterested

Yep, we were pretty impressive last night.

After an early scare, we grew into the game and were incredibly professional throughout. Not seen work ethic like it in a Chester team before - Dudley and Tuton were busting their guts to get back in and defend from the front even when we were 3-0 up.

It's exactly the sort of performance I'd hoped we'd see under AJ and BM and whilst it is very early days, the personalities and attitudes in our squad look to be exactly what's required.

He had a fantastic game against FC, but just to repeat myself, he was allowed to. I'd have looked half decent against them lot.

That description of yours doesn't match the Turnbull I remember from his previous stint with County, but then again he wasn't commanding either. I'll wait and see how he does in proper games against York and Southport before I show any excitement for Paul Pogbull.

It's flattering to have people take us seriously but honestly, we're no better than last season and this time quite possibly without Parkins goals. If we finish top 10 i'll be surprised. Even if we part swiftly with Gray, we're still lumbered with the players who've been setting the tone the last couple of seasons.

We've only got 2 senior players who were with us last season and what a difference that has made. Different players, different attitude, clean sweep. I would have thought that York City would have done something similar. Has Parkin retired?

We retained the manager who rewarded all his mates with bumper deals for getting us relegated, no we're stuck with it. Parkin is still going, but he scored more than enough last year to at least be fairly blameless.

York away is always going to be a test. Deseredly beat us at BC last season but looked a shadow of themselves at EP and Curzon Ashton (a game I just happened to frequent last season) later in the season.

Our win against FCUM while on paper looks good and we created a truck load more chances, you have to take the result with a pinch of salt due to FCUM's lack of quality in all areas of the pitch.

If we're serious about challenging at the top this season we need to be picking up points in games like tonight and Saturday away at Southport.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

2-0 down at Brackley after 13 minutes. 5 goals conceded already this season is a worry. Tough night ahead now.

Could have been 4 or 5 down at HT apparently. But somehow Peniket has dragged us back in to the game at 2-1..

Brackley 3-1 up now just as we have one chalked off for offside.

No complaints at all. Sounds awful.

Absolutely blown away by Brackley. A fantastic performance from Ramsbottom preventing the score from being embrassing.
Chalking that one down as a bad day at the office.

Not what I expected under Billy Heath at the moment. looking very suspect at the back. Also tonight is the consequence of not having an away pre season friendly. Need a response on Saturday at York. Another big test.

Quality performance again, Blakeman has 2 in 2 and was mom for me tonight. Josh Wilson held the ball up very well and even carver showed glimpses of footballing talent. Scott garner was poor tonight and made an awful challenge at shin height on carver which he got away with just a yellow for, used to be a quality defender but may be past it
