Curzon Ashton have signed striker Alex Samizadeh. The young Iranian forward, 19, joins the Nash having left Kilmarnock in the summer, after spending last season in Scotland.
Looked good for us a couple of seasons ago when he came on a months loan from Bolton. He scored 2 goals in 3 substitute appearances and has a lot of pace.

Surely at this point you reverse the fixtures?
Apart from 10/15 mins at the start of the game, I was happy with that performance last night. We did everything we could apart from getting that second goal.
We just didn’t have that bit of luck, any other day we’d have scored 5/6.

How Blyth beat Chester 8-1 at the weekend I don’t know as they were just awful. Thommo has a fantastic game and deserved a goal. Thought Elliott and Wheatley in the middle were superb and they’re building up a great understanding.

Styche and Ainge are doing fantastic up top too, 7 goals between them in 4 games. It’s only going to get better too.

Onwards to Kidderminster. Up The Darlo.

They couldn't have been that bad if they took a point of you!

Alternatively you couldn't have been too hot yourselves.

We did everything but have that bit of luck.

We had 3 goals disallowed, hit the bar and past a few times.

Any other day, we’d have scored 5/6. Never mind, onto Saturday against a very good Kidderminster team.

Thought I'd put up a few thoughts on Tuesday's draw with Guiseley

First 5-10 minutes County were excellent, reminded me of the opening day mauling of FC. The game settled down after that but we still looked composed, at least until the visitors scored such a soft goal thanks to a number of defensive errors. After that we looked shellshocked. Fair enough, the defence was makeshift but that's no excuse for the midfield to go missing 'n all. Guiseley made it clear that if we wanted to equalise there'd be 3-4 men between any of our forwards and the 'keeper, absolutely no chance of getting through.

Second half, no changes in the line-up and we continued to be poor. Fair do's to the Cheadle End, they woke up and gave the team some real energy, we equalise through a free kick - Walker seeing the goalie's too far right and slots it low into the left corner. We brought on Dimaio for the debutant defender Downing, he really does provide real attacking impetus for our midfield, nobody was able to capitalise on it through and a draw was a fair result. As always, I'm not bothered about results, it's the manner of our play that I look for and County just seemed tepid at best. As mentioned elsewhere, we don't look like a top team yet, though I know we have the ingredients for it.

They weren't dreadful, first 15-20 minutes they could have been 2 up and looked ok. Once Thompson hit the bar from 40 yards for us though, it was like a switch had been thrown, and we battered them. Three disallowed goals, bar, post, clearances off the line, we did everything but score. We were very good, they put bodies on the line to defend a point. All had games like this, but it could have been an 8-1 to us without exaggeration.

I mean, that is an exaggeration, isn't it?

Blyth could and should have got at least 1 more in their 20 minute spell at the beginning of the game, and should have won it late on when Wrightson scuffed his shot when in on goal.

Don't get me wrong, you were certainly the better of the two teams, but as for clear chances, you both had a few. Cunningham was excellent for Blyth and they all put their bodies on the line to keep you out.

That shot from 40 odd yards was superb mind, looked all the way. Thought your number 2 was your best player, you had the majority of your joy down that right hand side. Fitness certainly showed towards the end of the game as Blyth struggled.

Enjoyed the game overall, two sides who seemingly would rather play football than hoofball. Shame you didn't lose, though :P1::P1:

Not really. It's August.
Games come thick and fast in August for the simple fact that weather doesn't contribute to the eventual bogmires at certain grounds in this league. Could end up being another Spennymoor situation come February, what an embarrassment that would be.

Absolute madness.

Spennymoor had basically every home game from December to March postponed last season due to the weather. We ended up playing them at Harrogate.

Came to March/April time and they were about 7/8 games behind everyone.

‘Absolute Madness’, oh come on, stop being so dramatic.

It’ll most likely just be these two games that are coming in quick succession immediately afterwards that we lose. The current delay is we have to be extremely cautious with the electrics whilst it’s all drying off, we’ve had driers in today to help speed that up. Progress can be made once that's done.

That sounds like Halifax the last time we were in this league. I don't think they played a match at The Shay for months.

We ended up playing 12 games (more than a quarter of the season!) in 27 days in April, in which we unsurprisingly dropped 24 points, but still made and won the play-offs!

That's it ~~~ no game for us until AFC Telford (a) on 25th August.

We could be in the bottom 3 after we lose that one.

I remember it being very on-off but the postponements were hopelessly sporadic. For you I believe we had an original home fixture in mid-late March where the snow really came down (drifts around mine were up to 9ft deep). Similarly to when we got into the Conference and lost 2–0 at home to yous around Christmas time, we were shovelling up the snow but the ground was frozen underneath on the previous occasion.

For us, it culminated in groundsharing at Rochdale for a match against Stalyvegas, which is more or less the same distance away. Clearly mortifying that our historical rivals, a side we've played against more than any other, were there to lift such a lowly side out of the mire.

And that game finished 0–0. The only moment I can recall was when a Stalyvegas kid (a load of them gathered on the opposite side of the fence) attempted to lob an entire pie at the home fans.

Anyway, yeah. Chester's ground is so notoriously utilitarian on a first glance that it belies the fact part of one stand is condemned and another is falling apart. Our pitch has had 3+ (on my count) remedial jobs done to it pre-season that have still left it somewhat more susceptible to postponements than most, and it wedgied us a bit last season as well. Gateshead's problems were probably the most ludicrous when they ended up playing against Newport County at York Street, Boston. Sounds like the same hi-jinks occur at Spendymore.

To me some slack needs to come to the home fans who get at least as frustrated by these things. Us and Chester have to use money very wisely, while Gateshead had plenty at the time and spent it on a much better pitch. Hopefully it'll all be straightly addressed like it has been in the past, plus the FA doesn't tend to tolerate these incidents too long.

at the end of the 87-88 season in the NPL we had that many games in the last month (around 16 i think) we ended up playing on the last 4 days. mainly due to our FA Trophy run where we had a 1/4 final replay and 4 matches before losing the Semi final to Enfield. We also reached one of the NPL cup finals which didn't help either. We managed to finish 5th that year despite the backlog - behind Chorley who got promoted to the Conference.... I think they might well go up this year too - if they can keep both Newbys

One cannibal turns to another and says: “Do you know any Chester fans?”

“Nah,” replies the other. “But I 8-1.”

Probably the most difficult fixture of the season so far for us tomorrow. Bradford (Park Avenue) away. They've started really well and we've not really looked in control of any game apart from the 5-1 win against FCUM.

I hope our 2 best CB's (Palmer and Smalley) are back to fitness as we're going to need them!

The Horsfall Stadium has been a happy hunting ground for us, but i'd probably take a draw.

I think you've confused us with Wrexham.

Early mid table clash at the Impact Arena later as 14th Alfreton host 13th Blyth. Both have had mixed starts to the campaign. We really need to bounce back from Tuesday and start taking our chances. Tough one to predict but an early indicator as to where we are in the league.

What the fuck's going on over there! :fl:

Seriously, you seem to be on a slide, on and off the pitch, the sort of slide that ALWAYS originates in the boardroom. I think you may need another revolution to turn things around, which I genuinely hope you can do.

Jealous of a tumbledown 3-sided ground with massive floodlights …. I don't think so!

It's not our ground that can't host games because the ceiling has fallen in.

Of course you'd prefer to have the Exacta of the two though. Course you would.
