Absolutely hammering Southport at the minute, can see why they're doing poor.

I've got the Newbys' dad on Facebook and he obviously thinks they should be playing higher up - what do you reckon? Alex seems to be dominating Conference North. Would be worth another shot in Barrow colours, I think, but don't know if bridges have been burnt.

Thoroughly pleased with that!

Leamington looked a decent side, especially their one winger Obeng looked very lively before going off injured.

Really pleased with that, onto Saturday Chorley away will be a tough one.

They're quality, Alex can definitely play at a higher level, won't be surprised if he goes to a league team soon. Elliot is also a very good player, has bags of energy and is quality on the ball. I just want to keep them for as long as possible as they are a key part in our side.

Absolutely quality tonight, controlled the game for 90 minutes and played some great attacking football. Was a lot like Darlington last year, except we got a clean sheet this time!

Alfreton 0-1 Curzon.

Sigh. Very frustrating night. Mixed a clutch of first half chances and paid the ultimate penalty. How Peniket didnt bag I am not sure. Second half was disappointing. Curzon grew in confidence as we began one dimensional and a little too predictable in our play. It was all a bit predictable in the end. Our keeper had nothing to do all game. One final pot shot a wicked deflection and Curzon run away with 3 points. Classic Curzon. So good at what they do at just battling and staying in games and nicking it. Not the first time they have done that to us.

Hard one to take but we no Plan B if lump it to Tom Denton doesnt work..

On to Blyth. Need a home under our belts quick otherwise poor crowds are only going to get worse.

Based on our last three performances there's not a chance we'll get in the play offs, nevermind challenging for the title. Even our scrappy 1-0 win against Southport is put into perspective by the fact everyone else is murdering them. Big improvements needed.

Really good performance tonight, the Newby twins were outstanding and pulled the strings though every Chorley player was very good. Good goals from Teague and Alex Newby, competent penalty from Blakeman who also had a great game. Took foot off the gas second half, Saturday should be a terrific encounter with Hereford, really looking forward to that one.

A fair result, both teams set out to win the game. Stockport quick out of the blocks and ran us ragged for 10 minutes then we settled in and befan to get our pacy forwards into the game with Odejayi feeding them quite effectively. It's the first time since pre season that we've started with both Felix and Morrison either side of Odejayi and we looked far more of a threat than the past three games.
A very entertaining end to end game.

We didn't even put up a fight, it was embarrassing. I don't even know where we go from here, we've got some apparently decent players but they look clueless. I'm just surprised you went easy on us after the 4th goal, you could have pushed double figures if you wanted to.

Ugh, still never beaten FCUM in a competitive game. Fair result IMO, quality strike for their second, albeit he was politely escorted goalwards for 20 yards

That's the 2nd time in 6 months that a bottom of the table outfit containing Liam Dickinson has turned us over. He's scored both times

Ugh, I had Alty down as a banker tonight on my acca.......

Ex-Clitheroe Striker Kurt Willoughby got their second, he formed a great partnership with Alex Newby (now with Chorley) at Clitheroe. His goals alone will probably keep FCUM out of trouble.

It's YOUR nightmare now. Billy gets results but in almost half of the games under him there seemed to be absolutely nothing going on, on the pitch. :tw:

Not impressed with York this season, apart from Stockport game who actually try to play football.we seem to resort to huff ball just because other teams play this way.
We do seem more organised at back except first half against Alfreton.
Both central midfielders are injured but could be a blessing because not good enough.
Ashton will go down I think and I can’t believe they scored 3 goals away at kiddy.

That's what you get from McCarthy, bad luck. How's big Ryan doing?

Typical Billy I'm afraid. He doesn't really have a plan B. If Plan A doesn't work, particularly against defensive teams. You are in trouble

Very honest interview by Liam Watson after last night's game, might be the kick up the arse they need to start their season

I'm still wondering how on earth we didn't beat Blyth tonight at BM. I lost count with the amount of times we hit the woodwork and i think if i remember a couple of goals disallowed to add to the frustration of once again dodgy decisions from the officials.

Absolutely crap refereeing tonight he was a disgrace, apart from roughly the first 15 minutes or so we absolutely pulverized Blyth with a belting performance that was worthy of taking all three points.

Obviously very disappointed in the result, but it was another immense team performance from the lads, just wasn't to be our night at all. If the game got played again on this display we'd probably put 4 or 5 past Blyth they were pretty poor. Thommo was incredible tonight along with a whole host of other players.

Onwards to Kidderminster on Saturday brimming with confidence with a team that is getting better and better with every game.

Curzon Ashton have signed striker Alex Samizadeh. The young Iranian forward, 19, joins the Nash having left Kilmarnock in the summer, after spending last season in Scotland.

I'm not hearing anything out of the club about the rain damage only that they can't do anything until it's dried out and they're still assessing it and the insurers will want to have a look. Honestly can't see the game against FCUM being on Saturday. Next Tuesday's rearranged game against Kidderminster looks doubtful as well.

Surely at this point you reverse the fixtures?

Apart from 10/15 mins at the start of the game, I was happy with that performance last night. We did everything we could apart from getting that second goal.
We just didn’t have that bit of luck, any other day we’d have scored 5/6.

How Blyth beat Chester 8-1 at the weekend I don’t know as they were just awful. Thommo has a fantastic game and deserved a goal. Thought Elliott and Wheatley in the middle were superb and they’re building up a great understanding.

Styche and Ainge are doing fantastic up top too, 7 goals between them in 4 games. It’s only going to get better too.

Onwards to Kidderminster. Up The Darlo.
