First league win at home this season, the game was effectively over after 25 minutes.

I never criticise refs (what's the point, it sounds like sour grapes, mostly), but I'd make an exception for today's guy, absolutely awful decision-making throughout.

Alfreton look very limited, apart from Sinnott and Peniket, and the dirty number 8. Keeper looked very dodgy too - is he the first choice?

Matt Yates recalled by Derby yesterday

Matt Yates joins Hereford on loan today

Is Tim Harris banned from driving or something? Does his extensive scout network not get past Gloucester cathedral?! Anyway he's properly pissed on his chips at our club now with all this underhand nonsense. For the record Yates on the whole a good keeper and a loss, although he has made 2 howlers in his last 4 games leading to goals for the opposition.

He was superb today.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Weird season for Curzon currently. Away form will be envy of the division and would be top of table form.

Home form is shocking and would see us bottom.

Had they just won a couple of them home games........

Sublime opening goal for us today followed by a wind assisted, direct from a corner goal for Brackley. We then seemed to be content to sit deep, try to keep possession (some occasional success) without actually gaining any ground until the end of the game when we were gifted a wind assisted goal from a free kick into the box which the Brackley keeper misjudged, fumbled and left Paul Clayton with a tap in from two feet.
We didn't deserve the win but it's most welcome.
Great to see a couple of the injured make an appearance, lots more to come back at a future date.

Will they ever beat us i guess not. I can see why they they are propping everybody up in this division, saying that we weren't exactly at our best to carve out this much needed win. At times we were a nervous wreck, especially in the first 20 minutes or so, hence the reason for going a goal down from once again poor defending.

But quickly we brushed ourselves off and got back into the game with a goal from man of the match Saunders, celebrations were a bit delayed coz we didn't have a clue whether the ball gone in, strange goal. A much improved performance from Henshall in the first period, and nothing really from Ainge to shout about.

Second half we took the lead through perseverance from once again Saunders, this time the celebrations was fantastic with the player's running towards us and diving in amongst the fans. Absolute priceless! Shame like poor Harvey got booked.

We gradually got better as the game wore on creating chance after chance, that just wasn't happening in front of goal. Harvey looked a bit disappointed at the end he could and maybe should of had a hat-trick. I thought Wheatley was very impressive today, Saunders was decent up top, also Nicholson did okay entering the field of play in the last 20 minutes.

Another two unnecessary red cards for FCUM! Not a bad game but we still look vulnerable, be truthful I'm still not convinced this match will turn our season around. But all that matters is we won, and that'll do for me. Happy day's.

Absolute spineless performance fro us. Embarrassing.
Our chairman needs to go. Yet again his chronic lack of ambition has filtered down to the players. FA Cup wins over lower league opposition have papered over serious issues.

Feel a bit for Billy Heath who is clearly not used to losing. Problems are above him.

Not looking forward to next week at all based on that shit show.

Alty barely got out of first gear and that stopped after 25 minutes.

Totally agree about the ref. how he managed to book 5 or 6 players in that game is beyond me. Inadequate.

Much appreciated if you do us a good turn on Saturday by beating Blyth - Pleeeeeeeeze!

Blyth were as bad as I've seen this season. Even fcum offered something going forwards against us and Nuneaton more organised

Be nice if your home blues and our decent away run can continue for one more weekend at least ☺

Hang on a minute. What do you mean "Our chairman needs to go"? Who fills the vacuum? Is the chairman currently putting money in and if so, how do you pay the wages if he goes?

Let's get real here, you get gates of 551 average and as such are one of the smallest clubs in the league.

Is there a string of rich businessmen out there, ready to take over the club? They'd need to be rich to support the kind of finance that you need to be competing at the top of this league.

You need to be realistic in your demands of your chairman.

I am realistic. I totally understand that if Wayne goes that could cause short serious problems. However I think in the long term dropping to a lower level may give us an opportunity to grow the club again and reconnect with the town. Our chairman has upset too many. With the right ideas and prices it is possible to attract a gate of 700-1000 consistently. We have shown it in the past.

We are such a dreadfully dull side to watch and ridiculously easy to set up against. Sideways pass, sideways pass, sideways pass, hoof up to a forward hopelessly outnumbered by towering centre-halves. I could put up with it if it was bringing wins, but at the moment its guiding us to the dizzy heights of 11th in the Conference North. I may as well be watching something that's meant to be dull, like cricket.

Blyth just don't perform away. They beat Telford at home recently so they're clearly not a bad side they just never seem to put the performances in on the travels.

Again, in reality, gates of 700-1000 are only going to get you a bottom half to possible mid range budget at this level, unless someone is topping that up.

I read your posts with interest because it seems as though expectations are that you should be challenging the top spots, so clearly the chairman is putting money in already to finance this? Yet he's still considered not ambitious enough?

I can't imagine the frustration you must feel. Crowds of 3,500 in a part time regional league and that's the best you can come up with. Was good enough to beat Darlo though!

Highlights from Saturday's game between Leamington & Curzon Ashton. Leamington starting to slip a bit lately after a great start to the season. Top scorer Matt Stenson has been hit by the curse of the player of the month award, don't think he's scored since..
Home games against the likes of Curzon are games that Leamington should be looking to win to keep safety in sight! P.S, referee left a few unhappy!

Rest assured you won't need to be at your best, It's been a happy hunting ground for a few of the clubs that have visited BM.

Gates of 700 to a 1000 with a good manager and clever recruitment can reap rewards at this level. You think my expectations are too much. We have a proven manager and proven group of players at this level yet we played yesterday like we had just met. Something is very wrong. Our chairman has invested and has been given a huge amount (Player sales, cup run) but hasnt reinvested.

Is Craig Hobson really the best we can do? Probably the worst debut I had ever seen. Although I was warned.

Alfreton did a decent job in the conference for a while on similar gates, so there’s no reason they can’t do the same in the national north.

Dont worry, saturday's game will change the trend, Alty just dont know how to be boring, expect a high scoring game, whoever takes the many chances will win it :dk::sb:

Yup. We've basically been a midtable Conf North side ever since we dropped, with the exception of last season's play off adventure that was brought to an end at the first opportunity with another impotent, ineffective home performance.

This season, however, is even more frustrating because, with the lack of moneybags clubs and a half-decent side from last season to build on, I got a bit giddy and thought we might actually have a proper go at it (by which I mean become a solid play off side).

Ho-hum.

Alty Pieman clearly didn't go to the Curzon, Guiseley and FC United games, all of which were painfully dull.

And since Curzon at home (when we had several players missing) in the last 5 games, Alty have scored 17 conceded 8.

So saturday has 0-0 written all over it :fl:

The Hereford fans leaning over the barrier berating him for feigning it was what annoyed me about that. Clear as anything that he was seriously hurt, should have recognised it and left him alone with the physio.
