Play-offs are on for us. Players/managers giving up their wages to do so which is an amazing gesture.

It looks like you'll be keeping 1 of the Newby's next season (Elliot), but that Alex has had offers from EFL teams one local(ish) to Barrow - my guess is that club would be Morecambe.
I think it highly likely we are touting Alex around, we turned down a decent fee before the start of last season but am sure we would accept a good offer this time round, you are right about Elliot he has signed again.

I spoke to them both last week so the info was straight from them.

2 more newcomers today in the shape of young keeper Lewis Dutton from TNS, he will understudy regular Matt Urwin. Second signing is striker Lewis Reilly from Crewe, the 20 year old has played on loan in NLN with Telford and Curzon, the squad is starting to take shape.

Ed Williams confirmed as leaving us as well. Not too disappointed he's gone, definitely a very good player but he's a bit one dimensional and I think he got found out.

Be interesting to see where he ends up. Doesn't strike me as the type to move far and I can't see him going up the leagues as his form is sporadic. All our old players seem to be ending up at Chippenham (who just signed Marlon King as well) so maybe there. WSM potentially a shout as they have spent a far bit. Hereford maybe?

Blimey. Its looking very bleak indeed for Alfreton. Identity of the new signings will be a good indicator but the murmurs I hear are not good

Supporters have begun to receive season ticket renewal forms and our Chairman uses the words "Join us for our fight for survival"

Worrying times. Doubt we will be the only ones though and that coupled with only two relegation spots gives me some albeit small hope

2 further arrivals at Victory Park, Arlen Birch ex Telford and Fylde and Sean Miller from Curzon have joined over the weekend. Up to 11 now, so we are starting to get there, have to wait and see who else turns up.

Am I right to be slightly concerned that we haven't beaten Altrincham in the last 8 attempts and on top of that they will have home advantage and a two week start on us. Plus we have lost the only player who got into double figures this season and we've never won a play-off match.

All scripted for a 3-0 Chester win that.

We haven't won any of our last 6 against them, not 8. Even that includes a Cheshire Cup game.

We've signed Luke Maxwell, sold him to Blues for £75K a few years ago, get him back for free...profit :£. Good signing for our level, with him, Montrose, Kellerman and Prosser in the centre we've got a solid midfield

We had Maxwell on loan for a month last season. Very good debut and looked exactly what we needed but sadly became anonymous, too much of a passenger at times. Not sure what happened there to be honest.

My sources tell me that Alex signed for an EFL League 1 club yesterday - he was out of contract though - so no fee for you unfortunately. The club he signed for hasn't announced the signing yet though.

That makes me feel a lot more confident. Did you forget the 2 FA Cup games.
No.

Since reformation against Alty were W3, D3, L7 in all competitions. Bad but not quite our Woking or Forest Green level bad.

Agreed there. I think Woking are 10 consecutive defeats now and FGR are possibly 11. I was one of the handful of Chester fans for our last win against Woking, a 1-0 win with a great solo goal from a player who scored 2 on his debut against Lincoln. Name escapes?

Jamie Menagh.

Liked him, scored that mad last minute winner v Halifax as well. Wasn't got enough for the level really but worked hard and still made things happen because of that.

That is great news, really hope Alex does well, always thought he was our best player but many fellow fans wanted him diving into tackles and chasing back to his own penalty area. Best player we have had since Nick Haughton!

Akwasi Asante who scored 28 goals in 41 appearances for Chester has left the club to sign for Gloucester. Wow. Huge signal of intent.

Great signing for the club and on his day will always bag a few goals, however on the flip side of the coin dare i say somewhat injury-prone.
