SoC was referring to players, Wrexham got triggered thinking he said fans
Only one manager (Gary Waddock, Aldershot 2007/08) in over 30 years has won the title without previously having managed a game in non-league prior to that season...The priority for the owners is to get into the football league as soon as possible, which is what Phil Parkinson is here to do. Seems a bit of a coup for this level, but I guess so did Brian Little. At least Parkinson has some relatively recent success on his CV.
You've left out playoff victors. Salford went up with Graham Alexander who had never managed at this level at the first time of asking.Only one manager (Gary Waddock, Aldershot 2007/08) in over 30 years has won the title without previously having managed a game in non-league prior to that season...
Pretty sure Paul Simpson had not managed in non-league before he took Carlisle up via the play-offs in 04/05 too. You've left out playoff victors. Salford went up with Graham Alexander who had never managed at this level at the first time of asking.
If Undr the Cosh has taught me anything, it's that Parkinson is universally hated by everyone he's managed. Weird appointment that, in my opinion. Will be interesting to see what sort of players he brings in.
Oh yeah absolutely, that was why I prefixed that with "If Undr the Cosh has taught me anything" as I don't think I've ever heard any other players talking about him. It's quite likely that Parkin could be pushing an agenda too. Conversely, Russell Slade seems to be fairly well liked so it's by no means a full indication of their managerial qualitiesDoesn't that just depend on the players in question? When he was with us, he transformed the entire culture of the club from the old-school drinking type to one focused more on fitness and sports science, so the players who used to go out drinking and smoking (like Thomas Pinault) were bombed out - so it's no surprise someone like Jon Parkin doesn't like him.
The players who won promotion under him here all continue to say that he's brilliant and the best guy they've worked under, and I guess that's a similar story for near enough any manager in football.
Thomas Pinault. Ugh. Don't remind me.
Sometimes I think we have it rough, but then every so often a fan of another club says something like "Thomas Pinault was incredible" that makes me realise we've not been dealt that bad a hand.Thomas Pinault was incredible.

so does that make Wrexham founder members of non-league? If so it means you can never leave.....non league didn't exist until 2008 silly

He's come out in our local paper today saying he's had no contact from them. Plus he's only just recently signed a new 2 year deal here so they'd have to pay compensation. Reckon they will go for the other joint-favourite, the ex Swindon guy who's name escapes mei see the Halifax manager is currently favourite for the Rochdale job...
European club competitions have already started? It's inconceivable I know that but just in case anybody's not bothering with the Ingerland match, there's Craig Harrison Connah's Quay in action right now. They're playing some Armenian side.
You can thank me later
Ex-Chester player George Horan scored one of the Quay's goals. Must be 40 now. Very Ellisonesque a supremme athlete. He only left us all those years ago because Quay offered him more dosh.European club competitions have already started?
Bradford fans hate him despite getting them to a league cup final after putting 4 past Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, as well as getting them promoted?

It's all getting a bit silly now eh. As much as I love the game, all year round footy is not for me.
Spare a thought for all those clubs that get dumped out of the Euro cup competitions in the 1st preliminary round - a good number of European leagues only kick off in late August or September. What do these clubs do until that time comes?
How many berths does our league getThey drop into the newly formed Europa Conference League.
Give it time. That isn’t the Stockport-related news I expected when this thread was bumped.
I saw Parkinson's Colchester over the hill in Huddersfield when a mate had a spare ticket. Huddersfield were completely and utterly outplayed, out passed, out run, but somehow won 2 nil. I still haven't worked out how they did it.Doesn't that just depend on the players in question?
