Taylor put one just wide, Grant should have scored again inside the area, these are just off the top of my head along with a few dangerous balls into the box.

We weren’t amazing but didn’t need to be yet still felt we were comfortably the better side, other than a flurry of corners you had, I never really felt threatened.
Neither side really threatened if we are being honest I remember you fluffing one miles over, but the highlights on Sky told the story really. Other than your two goals it showed our effort in the second minute a fluffed shot from you and a free kick a piece which missed everyone. certainly not enough to be out of site at half time, and I don't think either could comment to be comfortable better than the other, well except at diving and sticking them in the top corner.;)

The difference today was two clinical strikes, which is a step in the right direction as we've been outclassed in every other game bar Shrewsbury.

Put Sunderland to the sword today and deserved too as well.
We are starting to click now, and I’m more positive about the season.
Sunderland where disappointing apart from a few brief flashes of what they are capable of.

Webb has only shown 8 yellows in 5 games and no reds which seems unusually low for refs theses days.

he was certainly very reluctant to pull cards out (for either side).

Anyway. 0-0 was probably a decent result in terms of the balance of play, OUFC were waltzing through our midfield like it wasn't there for much of the first half. I shudder to think what might happen against a team that's actually good by the standards of this division - if we come up against someone with quality strikers there could be a thumping on the cards.

I'm not complaining, we don't really have the money to afford a strong squad at this level and this season was always going to be a struggle, but I'm not sure where the next league win might come from.

Upside: great cameo from Akinfenwa and perhaps GA has now found how to use him in L1 - I don't care what level you're at, AA must be a nightmare to play against.

You and Barnsley are the best I've seen so far by a long chalk, you'd have but us to the sword if you could finish that night. Very telling that yet again the best two have been relegated teams, the gap is getting ridiculous between the leagues.

Sorry Accy, you deserved the 3 points. Accy together as a team, inventive, particularly at set pieces, never gave up. I was well impressed. Cod's, after 2 excellent performances I was expecting more of the same, not to be this game, clearly outplayed the first half put in a bit of effort the second. Didn't even celebrate our 1st half goal as I did not think we desreved it.

Second apology, 1st half, our player went down, ref immediately blew, our player immediately sprang to his feet, drop ball should have been kicked to their keeper, instead kicked out deep up field for a throw-in, NOT in the spirit of the game and left a bad taste for me and several other cod's I spoke to about it. I have said in another thread that it is good the cod's have got some 'grit' to their game but I do not condone 'gamesmanship' (cheating) and some of this appears to be creeping into the cod's way of playing.

Thanks pugwash for the compliment for Stanley. Didn't think fleetwood played badly and it felt like a reasonably competitive game, your midfield was pretty inventive at times.

As for the incident with your player - fleetwood almost created a dangerous chance from it about 40 seconds later, think if it had been scored there would have been riots! Maybe your captain or manager could have been a bit more vocal at this point and allowed us to take the throw in unopposed back to the keeper. However it is good to hear from a fan who doesn't want to win at all costs.

Good luck for the rest of the season, I enjoyed the visit despite slight disappointment at the result.

Been the story of our season so far, think we've only looked like 'automatic promotion material' once this season and that even that was after the referee waved away a stonewall penalty.

The main problem (other than we can't defend set pieces) is our midfield is tremendously slow and can't recycle the ball well which in a team set up to quickly break on the counter is a recipe for disaster. Some big decisions needed for Rochdale at home on Saturday, they have started well and like every team we've played so far won't be the push overs we sometimes pass them off to be.

It will be interesting to see how big the championship to league one gap is this season. We're yet to play any of last season's relegated teams. We host Burton on 23rd Oct and don't see Barnsley or Sunderland until the two weekends before Christmas.

By all accounts, Barnsley have looked the best footballing team when they're on song. Sunderland have started well and should get stronger as the season progresses, especially after the second transfer window. Burton are now looking good after a slow start.

As for us, we're not easy on the eye at times but our defence looks strong, and our wide forwards Curtis and Lowe have been excellent so far. Haven't seen any figures but we've definitely upped the budget from last season. Wouldn't be surprised to see further investment in January if we're still up there with a chance. The bookies have us as third favourites behind Sunderland and Barnsley so a play-off place still looks likeliest for us.

Well how many other teams will have the £20-30m budget Sunderland have this season?

We've played all 3 of the relegated teams already, and Barnsley and Sunderland were considerably ahead of Burton. Barnsley gave us a bit of a lesson for an hour but we could've nicked a point with a bit of luck, while the Sunderland game was actually very even - they took their chances and we didn't, and a draw there wouldn't have been necessarily unfair although I don't begrudge Sunderland the win. Burton were pretty hopeless, and again had we finished the chances we made we could've hit them for 5 or 6 quite comfortably. We've also played Accy and Cov who've come up, and both were neat and tidy without being much of a threat.

The gap between the Champ and League One is now the biggest in terms of financial mismatch. The tv money has trickled down that far now, and will start to get into this league as well over the next 5 or so years - Id be willing to bet that in 2022 or so the largest gap will be between this level and League 2, so for all those boomerang teams like us, Wycombe, Port Vale, Swindon etc it's vitally important that we're in this league when the cash hits!

After ending Peterborough's unbeaten start and keeping our own we play Wycombe who have only won one. Should be a home banker! We all know football likes to bite you on the arse if you aren't focused. We are a tougher team to crack and the more physical side aren't getting the joy they would have done last season.

Away banker then:P1:
More than likely - Beating the other unbeaten side away to go top, then playing a team just come up from the league below 13 points behind us... Best home record in the league v 17th best away form. If only football was about stats!! I think games like this will show if we are up to winning the league or not. Its easy to get motivated when your playing the top team, or a Sunderland etc..

I'm not holding out much hope for Saturday tbh our defence hasn't been up to League 1 standard so far. Should be a decent turnout from us Chairboys maybe around 800 the way tickets are selling.

Rochdale at home at the weekend, we haven't won for a while (unless you count the Checkatrade Trophy heroic penalty shootout against Stoke U-21s) or performed well for even longer so a few questions are starting to be raised.

Charlie Wyke confirmed to be out for 6-8 weeks following an injury to the same knee as last time after a collision with the Burton keeper, so we could do without that. Max Power's back from suspension though which will hopefully be a massive boost to our chronically missing midfield.

If you can stop our two wingers, Curtis and Lowe then you have a chance. You're full backs will have to be on top of their game for the full 90 mins. Shrewsbury did a brilliant job in the first half. Their Anchor man - Grant stopped any knock downs from Hawkins reaching our attacking midfielder and they Stopped Lowe and Green from getting a run down the wings (Curtis was on international duty). Allsop will get some stick because of his less than convicing play offs games a few years ago. I'm sure he'll play a blinder against us. I do wince when Akinfenwa plays us as he always causes us problems.

Looking forward to playing you , and visiting SOL. I honestly can't remember us ever playing Sunderland in the league before, so there might be a few more away supporters than normal...perhaps 7-800 or so, which is decent. Hoping for a good match...now you've mentioned Max Power; he will undoubtedly score against us.

He hasn't scored in 15 games so with luck he'll be on the bench as we have younger and faster strikers who deserve a chance like Scott Kashket and Nick Freeman, the problem is Ainsworth loves him and wanting the ball hoofed up to him which worked in League 2 last season but defenders in this division quickly shut him out.

Unlikely, our left back Jacobson is decent enough but will get skinned by anyone with a turn of pace.

I expect us to play 4-5-1 and our wingers will have to track back if you will fucking insist on running straight at us, we get very scared by that type of malarkey. Please don’t. Cheers.

Why the Wyke hate? I noticed digs a few times when he was here but could never fathom why?
For one, he’s a cheat. Constantly moaning trying to get players off too.

Then there is the over celebrating for no reason in front of our home end.

At least it made it even more satisfying when we turned that round to 3-1

Having a quick look at the records our first and so far only encounter was in the EFL Trophy this time 2 years ago. It was our academy side with our now captain and now top scorer playing alongside Jan Kirchoff and Jason Denayer. Funny how quick things change.

Gills 2-1 Posh. Zakuani to break his duck for the club, Evans sent off, Maddison to dive at least 6 times.

Why not.

Fair enough, I think we could have had a couple more before half time. Saw the highlights eventually and Grant really should have buried the one he put over and still think the Taylor chance was close.

Anyway, Plymouth at home Saturday. We're in good form so really should be looking at nothing less than a win but the fact Plymouth are winless worries me as that can't last forever.

I'll stay confident and go for a hard fought 2-1 win.

You'd better beat one of our relegation rivals.
