Difference today was the strikers. We battered them in the first half and should've been 2 or 3 up. They then score against the run of play and then grab another and the game is over.

To make matters worse Matty Lund may have broken his ankle and Josh Morris his jaw. That means we now have 16 players available for the next game.

Things are not looking good for us.

So glad to have beaten Wycombe today. They seem to have carried the League 2 mentality of turning up to an away match, time waste from the 30th minute and pray that Akinfewa (and no he didn't win a single header all game) wins a flick on for a chance to grab a lucky goal.

We were decent again, but still woeful in front of goal. Chaplin getting a goal from open play is huge, hopefully the floodgates open for him now.

Blimey were you actually facing the pitch? You were unlucky not to get a pen when our keeper missed the ball and half decapitated your lad, but to say you battered us is a mystery. It was an awful game first half with neither team showing anything.

Second half was slightly better. Both teams tried to get the ball on the deck a bit more and you are correct that the only difference was our finishing.

Well we finally managed a home win, and what a good one it was. Two very good goals in a dominant first half. Fair play to Shrews who took the game to us in an entertaining second half, and only a fabulous point blank save from Cairns in the last minute prevented the visitors from equalising. It would have been harsh on Fleetwood and hopefully this result will more than put us in good stead for two very tough away games against Posh and Pompey
Ashley Hunter continues to make the headlines with his upteenth assist of the season along with 3 goals and guess its only a matter before he moves on to the Championship or even higher. One thing is certain the Chairman will have learnt from the sale of Jamie Vardy and he wont come cheap.

10 years ago this weekend we were 2-0 up at home to Bradford with 10 mins left but then lost 3-2.
When Bradford scored to make it 2-1 I thought here we go again but we managed to get a 3rd. I thought they had some good spells but defo think we were worthy of the win.

Peterborough away next up - here's hoping we avoid another 8-2 defeat to them. Whatever happens I'm just enjoying the season and seeing us currently in the play-off places.

You will get at least a point at our place. We are awful at home.

Getting easily beat by Accy Stanley I'd say that's time to call it a day and shut the club down.

We’ve been easily beat by them almost annually now going back about ten years plus, at least next year we’ll be in different leagues to avoid this embarrassment again.

Southend
First half clearly the better side but didn't score. Out of nowhere Southend turn into 70s Brazil for 15 seconds to fashion an opening, which Cox put past Holy with the aid of a deflection. 90 seconds later our midfield fucked off to leave Southend essentially clean through from half way, and again Cox squeezed one past Holy. Should've had a penalty when Oxley clattered Wilkinson, and Eaves mis-timed a header from close in which really should've been one back. Not a lot else from either side, bar a header from Byrne and nearly a third on the break which deflected onto the bar.

Southend aren't a good side, which makes today more annoying. Cox is decent up front (despite being a diving little fucker) but the midfield is functional not spectacular, and the defence is alright. They didn't beat us today through a gulf in class, we just shot ourselves in the foot. We're an average at best side, which we were first half but not in the second. We don't have game-changers in the squad, so we NEED to score first to stand any chance. We've got a few unavailable at the minute, with Parker on International duty to add to injuries for Regan Charles-Cook and Brandon Hanlan - not to mention both Gabby Zakuani and Dean Parrett picking up fresh knocks today. The squad we have IS good enough to compete as last week showed, but the home form is an embarassment.

We've got Bradford at home soon, that'll be fun.
Wasn’t at this one so can’t really comment on the game but seems general view from our side is we withheld your lot first half when you had wind behind from mostly long shots then took our chances when they came in the second half. A lot of we aren’t a good team in your post when it really seems like we done a job on you in a good away win.

I said you aren't a good side which I stick by, but in Cox you had someone who took two chances, while we didn't have anyone to do the same at the other end. I completely agree that you got the job done well, but first half we could've easily scored a couple with a bit more composure in the final third - would that have changed the result? Possibly, but it's a moot point now anyway. Two minutes won the game, which as said before included a deflected first after a decent bit of play and then for the second our team parted like the red sea which was 100% down to us switching off rather than being cut apart.

I didn't mean to belittle Southend if that's how it came across - I think you'll be somewhere around the middle of the pack come May which is why I suggested you maybe weren't necessarily 'good' - but I suppose good/average/poor is all relative anyway.

Scientifically, you're using a sample size of 1 match to make this bold statement. It would be better to say "I didn't think you played very well in this one game".

I'm not though - I'm basing this on a direct comparison to other teams in the league, some of whom were of an obviously higher level to Southend. Southend are a very middle of the pack side, which isn't a bad thing, but in terms of the league that's where they are to me. They aren't a mile off being a good side, but right now I think they're pretty average. We're poor.

Massive two league games coming up for us this week. Fleetwood and Burton at home. Having not won in the last 3 attempts (2 draws and a loss) We really need to start getting a few wins at home. No disrespect, but if we want to get promoted we should have beaten Gills, Wycombe and Shrewsbury at home. We deserved what we got in all three games to be honest, although drawing with a penalty in injury time sucks!! Fleetwood has an exceptional away record and it should be the toughest home game we've faced so far. To go 4 or 5 games at home without a win is not great for a team trying to get Promoted. Ronan Curtis will be back after missing Saturday due to International call ups. Hoping the weather holds up as the two previous home games have been huge downpours which we've really struggled to get over, plus the pitch isnt in great shape. No doubt Barton will get a frosty reception as Barton once took Mendes out of the game by raking his studs down his achilles. PFC fans have very long memories!! lol I'm hoping for a win, but a draw against Fleetwood would be ok if we beat Burton on Tuesday night, but we need to put a decent unbeaten run together again to stay top

I don't think anyone is up shit creek, or has absolutely massive games just yet. It's October, most of the season is in front of us.

^This

We were looking a good bet for relegation at Christmas in 2015/16 and ended up making the playoffs and getting promotion. Way too early to start panicking.

Charlton away for us this weekend followed by Shrewsbury away on Tuesday. Our away form is nuts (with the exception of our forgone conclusion of a defeat at Coventry) so I'm looking forward to the next week.

Have very fond memories of my trip to Pompey in 2013 for our league 2 game, which I recall we won by a flucky own goal. Lovely city, very socialable fans that I met, and a good feeling at the ground. Only downer was that you had some very 'attentive' traffic wardens. Cods currently do a lot better away, particularly against the 'better' sides. Flattered that you feel a draw against our 'tiny pub side' would be acceptable. Will not be travelling to the game merely listening on I-Player.

Please tell your team to go easy on our Ash Hunter, word is he will be going to a prem side in Jan for some big money, so we dont want the goods damaged.

Yeah I remember that game. Think Sonny Bradley scored the OG. That was when Matt was good! I'm sure loads of League One sides are saying that about Accrington. Can't take the "size" of the club into account at this level, especially as we've been pretty poor at home except against Oxford and Plymouth, who both were shocking. Luton hit the post/bar a load of times. I know some sections of our home support are getting jittery and moaning already, so if we aren't winning by half time I expect the fans to be abit quiet.

Is this the match where Pompey bounce back at home, or is it a good time for Fleetwood to be playing you ? Theres certainly a bond developing throughout the team and another test for Barton to pit his wits against the current leaders. I'm going for draw 1-1 but we are long gone from being a tiny pub side !

Interesting game for us tomorrow against Walsall who I dont think have lost away from home this season. We have a decent record at home ourselves so will be interesting to see how Walsall approach the game. They are perhaps a bit a surprise package so far as I seem to recall them being widely tipped to be down the bottom at the start of the season but are in and around the playoffs so far.

We seem to have players beginning to come back from injury, was good to see Hylton back on the pitch against Barnsley, if possible id get him back in the 11 asap as he is massively important to us in a talismanic sort of way. Probably means Cornick back to the bench, hes done well in this little run of starts but still massively frustrating in front of goal, will definitely play a role off the bench though. Seems like Lee will be back so might see him back at the number 10 spot. I dont think its his best position but Shinnie hasn't been doing it for me this season and Grant can show quality at times but didnt quite seize the opportunity against Barnsley (although to be fair their entire midfield was just flat out better by a margin than ours so a difficult game to judge him in). An interesting one will be if Rea gets replaced by McCormack, in 2 minds about that one so will be interested to see which side Jones falls on.

I actually have a bit of a soft spot for Walsall as it was my first ever away game, we lost 1-0, I cried and got given a signed football from Walsall FC for my trouble! So always liked them.

Going down to Charlton tomorrow, got a decent record there recently and we've probably looked better away from home than at Oakwell. Wary though as they've got some good players and probably should be doing better than they are at the minute. Should be a good crowd and atmosphere.

Tough game tomorrow against a team who are the surprise package so far this season. Narrowly missed relegation and a lack of investment in the summer meant they were widely tipped to go down, as FCH stated. The new manager seems to have turned things round and got them playing with confidence not least away from home. As for us we are playing reasonably well and with players returning from injury it means we have more competition for places as well as giving NJ more options. Hylton will be the key tomorrow and hope that it won't be long before we see him return to the form which makes him so dangerous. After the defeat by Barnsley we will be looking to return to winning ways and while I expect the game to be tight I still think our home form will tell especially with the continued improvement we are making this season. We certainly have goals in us and even if league one defences are considerably better than league two we are still creating chances which for the moment aren't being converted. Sort that out and we will see a few high scoring games. I'd be more worried if we weren't creating opportunities. Our fixture list in the next couple of months looks a little easier. We have played the top four away from home and Sunderland at ours. A great opportunity to get some more points on the board and make a push for those play off positions. A bit more positive news off the pitch too regarding Power Court so lets hope we round off the week with a positive display on the pitch.

Dean Keates was a little shit of a player too. Certainly a few battles with him in our Conference years.

There will be goals for sure. We’re pretty threatening going forward but can’t defend for shit, against one of the better attacking sides in the division.

Unfortunately our pathetic attempts at defending and goalkeeping will be our downfall.

2-4 is my prediction.

We will only just be able to fill a bench today, can see us struggling against Wycombe.

Josh Morris will be our biggest miss, everything goes through him and we will be lost without him.

Think we will lose 2-1.
