We were awful today, worst we've been under Keates.

Looked like just a bad day at the office coupled with us going with the wrong shape completely, made Luton, who were a very good side mind you, look like Barcelona. We were misplacing passes and touches all game and couldn't make it stick whatsoever. When we went into the 433 at 2 nil we looked more comfortable and should have started with the extra man in midfield in hindsight.

Would have been a travesty had Coventry not won today, they nearly didn't, oh and the score should have read Southend 1-3 Coventry.

First half we were awful, imagine a team (apart from Sam Mantom) who looked like they'd rolled out of bed bleary eyed after being on the lash to find themselves suddenly thrown into a game of professional football.
Within 5 minutes Cov had scored, except they hadn't. Ghost goal, I was in the stand behind the goal, and the ball was at least a foot to two foot over the line. In defence of the officials how the defender cleared the ball meant it was very difficult for them to see. Cov players rightly apoplectic.
They deservedly scored with yet more poor defending from a cross. You might have think that would wake us up, nope. Yes Cov were compact and hard to break down, but we just passed it about without a care in the world, barely trying to break a sweat.

2nd half better, especially when Hopper came on and scored a very decent goal. He and Mantom are the only ones to come out of the game with any credit, are there any other players we can have off Scunthorpe?
We started looking more likely after the goal, Cov under pressure then Cox gets himself sent off, we drop really deep and the inevitable happens, but as I say Cov were worthy winners and even a point would have been a robbery.

We have some inexplicable home issues - firstly we haven't scored in the North Bank goal for 14 games and secondly we cannot defend anything into our box, causes utter panic. I've only missed Plymouth and Shrewsbury away but in every away game we defend so much better than anything at home, it makes no sense as to why the same players have such issues defending at home.
If your team comes to Roots Hall just get it wide and pile into the box, you will score. I'm more confident of us winning at Sunderland than getting a result on tuesday against Walsall, that's how bad our home form is.

I'd also make a case today for reviewing yellow cards. The one given to the Cov number 8 after the ghost goal, he didn't even get in the lino or refs face much yet they booked him.
Plus the Cox sending off, I've got no problem with the first yellow, he was very late, but the second one, I'd have to see again but looked harsh, he is now suspended and there is no appeal.

Another great win today.

Slowly, it is all coming together for us. Jodi Jones being back is huge, he scares the life out of defenders. We were comfortably better than Southend, who are a decent side.

Wether we are good enough to push on towards the top 6 is something which will be evident in the next few games.

Professional performabce from us, massively comfortable. Cant see how Walsall were in the positin they were in, incredibly limited.
Disappointing injury to Potts, have adequate cover though.
One day not taking the chances presented to us is going to bite us on the arse.
Confident for Tuesday, dangerously close to the playoffs.
Up the fucking Hats.

I thought coming forward when you played at pace you looked an excellent side. It was when we gave you a bit more time and your players had time to think their passing was slack and they didn't really seem to know where to play the ball.
Also, who's the number 5 at the back, he was like a proper throwback player, appeared to have no ball skills, at times looked scared to have it to feet but was good at heading, marking and tracking players!

Also - good to see the North Bank full of away fans, when 50 are in there the noise is good so the 1000 or so Cov fans in full voice can be heard miles away.

Wonder if the chanting of some Walsall fans today will make national news like whenever our idiots reveal themselves. I somehow doubt it....

We're never going to be world beaters in a Midfield consisting of Michael Doyle, but the bloke is still doing a shift at 38.

Very, very good atmosphere from Coventry fans. Once again proving that the core 1000 is often better than taking 3x that.

Another great away day down at Peterborough - we didn't have it all our own way but delighted with a rather unexpected win. The League table is looking good for us!!

Another couple of tough tests coming up Luton (A) and Portsmouth (H) - whatever happens I'm just so proud of how the club is progressing on and off the pitch having followed them since the UniBond League days...

So despite our good form, we’ve only beaten 2 of the current top half, but we have some favourable fixtures in the next 6. I would be fancying our chances against:
Accrington H
Wimbledon A
Rochdale A
Plymouth H
Gillingham A
Bradford H
I’d fancy 14 points from those 6.

In fact the last time we lost at home in all competitions was against Accy 7 months ago.

Boring game but we got the job done. Was surprised at how poor Fleetwood were and they showed no attacking ambition whatsoever - no shots on target and a player getting booked early on for time wasting says it all. I was expecting more from them.

Need to make sure we beat Burton on Tuesday now and see if we can increase our lead at the top.

Stunner from Fred! How's he getting on this time round?
Has been lazy at times and ineffective but yesterday he looked like the player when we had him on loan before, hopefully his brilliant goal yesterday will help him confidence wise and he starts scoring more often, when he's playing as a winger he needs to learn to track back and help the defender but i'm sure Ainsworth will sort that out.

You know Accrington are going to turn us over in agame where we dominate but they get a dodgy pen and score a worldy or something. That game we lost to them still sticks in the craw a bit for me, no way should we have lost it.

I have to say what Accrington are doing is really something to see, although it has the slight downside that other clubs could try and pinch Coleman if things carry on as they are. But I guess worry about that when it comes to it.

Don't think he would leave for anyone right now. He knows he has a job for life with us, we are going from strength to strength on and off the pitch and the fans adore him.

One win from Luton and Portsmouth will be fine by me. Preferably against Luton ;p

That game was in effect the title decider. Not that I was particularly bothered about finishing first. At the end of the day it was all about promotion and getting out of league two. But yes that loss wound us up a bit in a game we dominated but Accrington did what they had been doing all season, upsetting the odds. The fact they are doing it again shouldn't come as any surprise. Coleman has certainly found a winning formula and got them playing an effective style of football. The biggest advantage for Accrington is they can play without any expectation unlike many teams in this league. I'm sure their fans are just enjoying the ride.
Perhaps NJ will gently remind our players of last seasons game in his pre match team talk.
Tough game sure but we are playing them at the right time with confidence high.

I don’t doubt you’ll beat us! Even off the back of a great performance for us just got a feeling some odd stuff is going to happen like our last game!

Our club is properly on its arse now. I've resisted for so long, but 4 hour round trips week in week out might be coming to an end.

Luton fans remind me of port vale fans. Always going on about something that happened in a game preventing what they felt was a goal or a penalty or a decision that gave one against them.
Remember this - these things even out over a season. It’s just that your memory will only ever remember the “injustices” against you....

Yeah I've been thinking that about us as well. How rubbish must Plymouth be at the moment?

Utter shite!! We can’t defend for shite and as if 7 points from 14 matches wasn’t enough, Adams yesterday launched insults at the fans in a radio interview!

Was just referring to that specific game, not the whole season? We definitely had our fair share of luck last season for sure, whether it “evened out” I’m not so sure. Any fan is going to remember perceived injustice over luck in your favour, not sure it’s an exclusive Luton/Port Vale trait!

And as I said in my comment, it didn’t matter, we got promoted. It’s just an interesting thing that happened the last time we played Accrington who we happen to play next.

Everybody is pleased for the tremendous progress you have made and your continual climb up the table. Dont want to sound to gushing but you are everything that is good and descent about football and puts to shame the greed and obscene money swilling around the Premier League. Mind you I did like Mourinho's swipe at the Glazers saying Chelsea have intelligent owners.....
