Big 3 points tonight and lifted the goal difference again. We are missing 5 of our first team at the wrong end of the season (not an excuse for Saturday just outplayed by a very good team) so this win puts us back in the playoffs with another home game Saturday and Bradford away next week. If we can get points from those 2 games we might be still in with a chance by the time 3 of the missing return

Trip to Wembley for us and Pompey so hopefully the top two drop points today. However you’ve both been placed on my banker acca which means i dont expect any slip ups from either of you.

Safe journeys to all today.

Enjoy. A day out at Wembley with 40k fans is special. 40k up the other end. Even better. Ignore the haters. Average Joe doesnt like change. Change can lead to progress even if the idea has flaws.

Really tough game today with Luton at home. Hopefully the shambles of Donny was a one off as since Coughlan took over in December we've picked up 31 points from 18 games - which is play off form without doubt.

Some interesting stats that Luton could break a couple of records tomorrow:
League 1 unbeaten record - coincidentally held by us
Luton's first win ever at the Memorial Stadium (they haven't beaten us at our ground since 1980)

So an easy 5-0 win for Luton then

We've a decent record against them at Oakwell of late. Coventry itself is cursed though.

I'd say today is a banana skin but that would be doing Cov a disservice as I believe they're one of the form teams - probably our toughest remaining fixture and 3 points would be magnificent.

We’ve a bit rubbish record at Bristol Rovers I think. They had a bit of a beating in the week against Doncaster so will be looking to get back on the horse. I’ve seen a few of their fans say that they have been playing a diamond midfield of late which is of course what we do, so that could be an interesting conundrum for us. Can lead to us being stifled a bit at times whilst we work things out.

Got to play Lua Lua up top today, will be very disappointed if that isn’t the case. We looked so dangerous with him against Donny last week, they couldn’t handle it at all. Who plays with him is the interesting one, harsh on Hylton but I’d be tempted to bring Collins back in, just think he’s a better fit for us and how we play these days, plus Hylton off the bench is a great option to have if we need a shithouse type of goal! But as long as it’s not Collins/Hylton together that’s fine with me.

Midfield NEEDS to have Berry in it as well for me, the lad is absolutely quality and it was him coming on last week for the unfortunate Potts that really got us going. Quietly confident of a win if we play the 11 that played the bulk of the Doncaster game though.

I believe the 27 game streak is the one season third tier record - the actual record over two seasons is 32 games I think. We could equal it not beat it today.
It would also equal our club record at whatever level which was set in 2014.

Well today is massive for us. Lose and it might be the nail in the coffin. We looked like a relegated team last week, a loss today would kill us off.

If you want to stay up, you need to beat the teams around you at home. Rochdale did it against us, Oxford did, Gillingham did. We didn't against Bristol Rovers. We need to against Wimbledon.

My dim and distant memories of Bristol Rovers away are getting spanked midweek. Every time. They may be incirrect but thats whats up there in my grey matter. So. Lets reverse that and have a solid win today please boys. Confident we can but theres always a potential slip up.

As ever, what TFCH says. Def start with Lua Lua up top alongside Collo for me. Works harder. Berry in the team too. Lee needs a good game. Fancy he might and get on the scoresheet today

COYH. lfg and put this to bed

We’ve gone with the lineup that I think most would have with Collins and Lua Lua up top. Berry also in midfield so looks good to me. No Hylton on the bench though which is interesting! Might be an injury there.

Sounds like a number of fans are stuck and won’t see kick off though, seems to be chaos on the roads this afternoon!

This would be 75 games unbeaten from being in a leading position.

Yet again .......Shinnie inch perfectly slides it into the channel between centre half and full back Stacey races in behind, squares for tap in for Collins. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Barnsley 1-1 Coventry :woo:
A clean sheet today would've been a club record for Barnsley.

Not being funny, but how much did Luton pay this referee? This is absolutely shocking

Goal at the end there sets up a bit of a nervy second half for us. 2-0 at h/t and I’m not doubting we’d win at a canter but that changes things a lot. Let’s hope Mick settles them down.

Oh dear Gassy what have we done? Seems like Lua Lua is playing the Hylton role from looking at Twitter!

Apart form Lua Lua's awful late tackle, you've done nothing wrong. The ref gave everything your was though & nothing for us:

  1. LuaLua awful foul, just a talking to & final warning for his time wasting/slowing play down when it's our free kick
  2. LuaLua kicking the ball away just before we take our free kick - another "last warning"
  3. Your 2nd goal was never a free kick in the first place, although the free kick was in your own box, so I wouldn't say it's because of the poor decision that it happened
  4. When we're taking a quick free kick the referee stops us to allow all Luton players get back, you'd think he was giving a yellow card, but no - just another talking to.
  5. Foul on JCH, clattering into him and some how no free kick. We keep possession & are just outside the box in an attacking position to cross it in & then he blows up for JCH still on the floor for a head injury. Then he gives a drop ball?! Which goes out for a Luton goal kick
Thankfully there haven't been any clangers so far, but it disrupts our game completely & you deserve to be a goal up. Lets hope he improves 2nd half

Another grind. We have the mentality when it gets tough. Stretched the lead, added max pressure. Thats two great wins on the trot....

Well today was well and truly the nail for us. Another gutless loss to a team around us. Absolutely no fight in this team, we are doomed.

I reckon we probably deserved a point out of that but fair play to Luton.

They weren't as spectacular as I thought they'd be (from reading reviews on here), but they're a solid team all over the pitch. Their general outfield play I actually thought wasn't that great, but as soon as they get in/just outside the box - the whole team comes alive with dangerous crosses, movement & passes which is hard to defend against.

Ironically I thought we defended pretty well apart from the first goal. The 2nd was pretty lucky with a scuffed shot that bounced into the corner. Despite 0 points from out last 2 games against Donny & Luton - I reckon we can stay up, tough game at Coventry again next week though

Luton need 11 points to guarantee promotion regardless what the others do.
