How's everyone's going? I know Port Vale have already launched their new kit, did FGR release theirs before the end of the season?

Ours is launched tomorrow, but here's a sneak peek

Ours is retro but kind of pleasant on the eye.

Is it something Carlisle do often going for the blue shorts as well? From the back it appears to have the look of a Chelsea kit from the mid-90s. Seems going for the simplistic design like Vale have which am all in favour of personally.

The Carlisle fox goes back to 1912 when a local huntsman donated a live fox to the club.

There was a tradition for many years when a stuffed fox was brought onto the pitch before games. Not sure when that stopped, not been to Carlisle's ground since 1985

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
The fox was removed by Knighton in 1996 if I remember and Carlisle crest put on instead. Before the. It always was a fox.

they were whacking a stuffed fox on the centre spot before each game between 2005-2015 but not sure if still happening as I’ve left area and don’t get to games now.

very much like the new Carlisle kits sorry I don’t know how to link up stuff on a mobile……someone else will

I know I gave you a lot of stick over last seasons home shirt but it's your turn now to have a good laugh at our expense. Fair's fair.

I never say I don't like or like an opposition teams shirt as our opinions don't really matter as we aren't the ones that will be buying it or wearing it.

I kind of like that... despite the amount of detail on it it doesn't look overly fussy, I keep thinking I'm looking at someone wearing a football scarf, which might be the point.

It’s erm different! I don’t mind that though, better than the template Adidas, Nike or Puma teams have.

Elaborate wood block flooring is what comes to mind. Its busy looking and could be off putting to opposition players. Bit of psychology involved maybe. If you look at it from an angle it appears to move around.

That kit looks like a barcode...if you run a scanner over it what does it come back with?

Seriously though, it could bea bit of a grower...it does look like something that you might see in an art gallery! (For anyone interested in art, it does have a bit of a Piet Mondrian feel to it)

Get you with your culture.
It is very abstract, like a harsh version of your waving grass look.

Yeah...I know Mondrian used black, white and primary colours but it was more the lines and boxy feel to it.

Definitely abstract and I have to admit that I do like it, possibly why I liked their blue and white away offering a couple of seasons back...which I know divided opinion.

The only picture I have seen for our new kit (from the virtual offering) suggests it is almost identical to our most recent one, but with jagged edges to the stripey bits rather than straight.

What would you go for if you were allowed to design and vote for your kit like we were.

Great question...I know that our current kit isn't everyone's cup of tea but I like it for being distinctive and happy for us to stick with the style. I have to admit that I was one of the people who objected when Dale changed the club colours to black and green from black and white so I was really happy when we went full zebra on the away kit.

The big question is whether I would want to go back to black and white, our previous colours (with red socks for the traditionalists), I am so used to the black and green so the answer would probably be no...it has definitely grown on me...but I hope we stick with black and white for away. As for design, I reckon that Cambridge strip design would look smart in black and green, or black and white.

The problem with allowing fans a choice was shown by us and Man City fans (pre money) both voting to rename stands behind a goal after famous ex players. Unfortunately neither club ended up with a Bell End for away fans. Worth a try though.

That could be fun, one of our club legends is Alex Sykes...lovingly referred to as Syko...not sure that would be a good combination, the Syko Stand, doesn't reall match the image many people have of our club...a bit more Millwall than Forest Green!

We now have The Joshua Jewellers Johhny King Stand. The season ticket card will be about 8 inches long

Good point, which reminds me...wasn't Cheltenham's ground called the Johnny Rocks for a while...that sounds like an encouragement to use contraception.

Condoms filled with gravel if you enjoy rough sex perhaps.

It still happens, same fox from 1912 that used to be walked around the pitch on a lead... not sure when it died but according to the club website it was stuffed and soon after they started placing it on the centre circle. Its name of Olga is actually after the daughter of the guy who donated it rather than an anagram of 'goal' as is commonly believed (including by myself until today).
