Definitely a highlight of promotion is getting away from this knob.

Trust me, B2TF is a an absolute pleasure compared to some of the League Two forum delights...

Stockport another where there really isn’t scope for much in the transfer market unless they shift a lot. More players retained than we want our squad to be when it’s done.
Two loanees gone back, contracted Williams and Bennett gone in the last few days with Maynard and Stott likely to follow, Jennings out as he battles cancer and Kitching with a long term injury so it’s not as big as it looks.

Hoping to see 5 or 6 quality signings.

After getting shut of Bennett and Williams, Cardwell and Walker going back we are pretty light up front. There's plenty of scope for signings in attacking areas and we only have 1 keeper on the books. If we shift Maynard and Stott out, there's two other positions I feel we need like for like- a left sided centre back who can play in a 2 or a 3 and another midifeld enforcer who adds a bit more bite than Collar and Croasdale.

To be fair. He isn't ball playing centre half. We moved to a passing style last season. I'm not dissapointed by this one.

P.s everyone ignore the message in the confirmed signings only just realised I posted in there and not here

Fair enough, he’s getting on a bit aswell isn’t he!

The plus side for you is that with all these players leaving, Wild will surely have a decent budget to play with in regards re-building a squad ready to go again

Yeah he's 37 now is Clarke. As a defender he is still very good at what he does. Not many better out and out defenders at this level I'd of thought. Reads the game well. But everyone wants to play out from the back these days and we are no exception.

As for the budget. Its exactly the same as last season. We've done well to not have to reduce it but we've got some work to do now. Wild will have people lined up but as always with us we won't announce until the start of July when their contracts expire..

Are Maidenhead still part time? We are full time and also losing our best players so clearly a budget thing.

Ive seen Ferdinand a few times and always liked the look of him against us.
Sort of hybrid part-full time.
Train 3times a week.

I find this so hard to believe. He was a diabolically bad player for us. I can think of about 6 CBs we had down here who were all ten times the player he was for us. I guess players shine at different clubs but if he's one of the best down here then standards have dipped dramatically.

Purely as a defender. There's different facets to being a defender now. Ability on the ball. Etc. I'm talking about old school centre back that's always there to head the long balls away when holding onto a lead.. and positional sence. He's an old school centre back in a modern game.

If you want a player who can pass out from the back and thread balls into the midfield your 110% going elsewhere.

What I mean is a lot of the modern centre backs try to be flashy now and good on the ball. He's only interested in defending and getting his head on the next cross in.

Agree. If Clarke is seen as a quality defender at this level then we really should piss it.

Maidenhead are losing all their best players.

We have managed to secure Barratt but not much else positive to report.

Kane Ferdinand in from Woking.

Anyone got any thoughts on him?

What on earth is Barratt doing staying and signing a 2 year deal? No offence but surely you're not keeping him for the coming season, best player I saw in the league last season.

Or has he done a deal with the chairman in order to get a transfer fee in the next month or so...

Mixed feelings on Clarke. Defensively, you can't deny his quality at times. Reads the game really well and very good in the air. However, as ShayWay mentions, he doesn't really suit our 3 at the back system. He's your typical if in doubt, get it out type of defender and his legs have gone. Anyone with a bit of pace can easily expose him one on one so we ended up playing deeper to accommodate him.

We don't know, seems to be really out of line with everything else that's happened here this summer.

We have agreed new terms with
Jay Benn
Kian Spence
Dom Tear

Those names won't mean anything to you.

Jay Benn is an acadamy defender. Hasnt played much but Wild seems to rate him for the future.

Spence came through Middlesborough's acadamy. Spent last year on loan at Scarborough then injured made 7 apps. However Jack Earing who's just gone to Walsall has tipped him to have a big season. He's a centre mid

Dom Tear is a strange resigning. Came through Huddersfields acadamy. We signed him at the start of last season. But remained unused for the majority. I have no doubts he would have been out on loan last season had football continued at a lower level. Surprised we have kept him and that he wanted to stay. Hopefully gets used more this season. He's a winger.

These are all young players so they should be hungry. Time will tell if they are good enough.

Finally some (kind of) good news for us. Kian Spence, Dom Tear and Jay Benn all signed new deals. 3 promising youngsters. Spence is being tipped as the one to watch next season just like Earing was this time last year and look how that turned out. Even Earing himself in his leaving interview name-dropped Spence.

As for Tear and Benn, they barely featured last season. I suspect had the lower leagues continued, they would have ended up out on loan. Woudn't be massively surprised if they got loaned out after this pre season in all honesty.

Still some key players yet to sign. Hoping to hear some good news on Green, Bradbury, Senior and Woods in the coming days.

Wild has done an interview night talking about the squad and he mentioned we tried signing 2 of the Grimsby signings. Guessing it would be Sousa, Pearson or Taylor given they are all northern based.

Pearson said that he hadn't spoken to anyone and had sorted his contract out before a cheeky phone call from Grimsby so doubt it was him

Yeah I'm not having it at all. He was so incredibly poor for us, Clarke. Terrible defender. We had Shaun Pearson, Toto N'siala, Ian Miller, Nathan Pond and Josh Gowling last time we were down here and I'm not exaggerating when I say they were all easily ten times better for us than Clarke was. Then you've also got the likes of Scott Garner and Andrew Boyce who weren't quite on that level for us but still much better than Clarke. None of them were really ball playing CBs either.

McAtee is also northern based.

I've already told you, don't listen to the 2 idiots, they know fuck all.

5 have left- 2 we didn't want, 2 got better offers, 1 wanted more than we thought he was worth. Wild already knew who he wanted if they weren't staying, and also knows who he wants if he can't get them. Our is very professional, well run club, despite what the 2 muppets, for reasons i can't fathom, want you to believe. :ds:

Wynter, Moxey, Wright and Hall all confirmed as signing new deals (apparently done before the play-off semi-final).

Koszela, Slough and Andrews also agreed terms but not actually put pen to paper.

He had a bad time at Southend and I suppose was grateful to get a deal back with Maidenhead.
Maybe he thinks he owes some loyalty?
Or maybe he's just happy here?

There's nothing on our end about this apart from a guy on our forum who is known for talking utter garbage. He claims he's leaving but adamant it's not Southend. Doubt you'll get him cheap should he go. He's vital considering we've lost arguably our best two players already from last season.
