My ambition for this season is to be the third worse team in the league.

Based on your 2nd half display yesterday at Valley Parade, you will be fine. There is no way are you finishing below Tranny, Morecambe and Carlisle.

Hope we can do you a favour and beat Accrington on Tuesday.

Carlisle seemed be unlucky today .
In terms of a couple of decisions going against them - yes absolutely - but in terms of result being a fair one then no, a one goal defeat actually flattered them.

We did, we were doing crap but he did well to save his job. Fans thought the same in Parkinson’s first season years ago and that didn’t turn out badly for us. It happens at plenty of clubs, I’ve seen some fans wanting Parkinson out for the last 3 seasons at Wrexham.
Wouldn’t say the majority wanted him out, a handful as always but most were resigned to at worse saying what’s the point as there’s no one better out there/still have Sparks around.

Yeah majority is strong, certainly plenty on social media. But with both managers it never translated into mass dissent like it did with the likes of Adams.

I still think it will be Carlisle and Tranmere.

Morecambe I think have the weakest set of players on paper but they have some things that neither Tranmere or Carlisle have…….team unity, battling spirit, backing of their manager and passion.

I do fancy Morecambe to survive. And given the hand that Derek Adams has been dealt off the field it might well class as some of his finest work if he does it. Looking very bleak for Tranmere even if they’re yet to hit the relegation zone they’re not showing a lot that gives you the feeling they could turn things around. And I do hate to say that as I do quite like Tranmere and their fans.

I have no axe to grind here whatsoever but looking at form, points on the board, who they play in the next few games and number of games played, Harrogate could easily get sucked right into the relegation battle. Enjoyed my trips to Harrogate so nothing personal, but I’d be glancing over my shoulder

I wouldn't entirely rule out Gillingham yet either, they're hopeless at the moment and have been for weeks.

Barrow shouldn't be getting too cocky about safety either imo

Stockport County.
I still think Carlisle have got something in them.

it would take something spectacular for barrow to go down. Two 3-0 wins over the last couple of weeks would suggest that they have enough in their locker to be comfortable. They are inconsistent, but inconsistency keeps you up. The teams that go down are consistent. Consistently terrible.

For me its a 2 horse race between Tranmere and Morecambe to avoid joining us. I don’t think any other club will be dragged into it. The quality of the bottom 3 is too bad.

13 points from the last 20 games for Gillingham, which would have them bottom since the end of September.

Gills need something to happen soon or it could get nervy, only takes a couple of big results for them to be in deep mess, next five is massive, two promotion hunters then Carlisle and Morecambe in the three after that. They don’t win in the next five and they could be in real trouble.

Carlisle you feel will click a mini run somewhere and they’ve tried everything with manager changes and player signings but then they just keep losing so it needs to click soon.

No one is. Still need at least another 3 wins with a few draws to make things certain, if we can do that you're looking at all of the six below having to accumulate points at a rate far higher than they have done all season to get ahead of us. Always want to get to 50 but I reckon around 45 will be the benchmark at the moment.

Yeah that's my thinking too for anybody else to get dragged in it takes 2 of the bottom 3 to suddenly start winning which just doesn't look likely at the minute.

We are most definitely in this.
2 points from the last 24 available and it’s impossible to see where the next win is coming from.
Genuinely worried now

I am like most others this is a straight out 3 horse race battle, I think having watched many a relegation dogfight the crucial aspect now is who gets the most points at home as I have found in this high pressure spell away points seem harder to come by UNLESS it’s a massive must win relegation 6 pointer in April time which in Carlisle history always seemed to favour the away side.

Morecambe have 10 home games left Carlisle and Tranmere 9, Tranmere have at present scored double the home points or other 2 who have only taken a pathetic 9 home points each.

Tranmere to play: Fleetwood, MK Dons, Accrington, Port Vale, Bromley, Cheltenham, Chesterfield, Doncaster, Crewe

Morecambe to play: Accy, Donny, Walsall, Wimbledon, barrow, Swindon, Cheltenham, Carlisle, Salford, Harrogate

Carlisle to play: Colchester, Gillingham, Walsall, Wimbledon, Bromley, mk dons, Newport, port vale, salford

Quite a balanced set for each really could say for Tranmere now is their do or die some good home games

it may look like a 3 horse race at present - but just look at Newport - they were right amongst it 3 games ago then got 2 undeserved wins at home to us and Morecambe (they should have lost both games) - but they took confidence from that and won away at Crewe. Any of the other teams at the bottom could do similar even though fans of those teams might not see it at the moment.
Saying that though - this midweek could have a big effect on teams confidence;-

I'd say any team above us is safe from worry (at least for now) - so a back to back win against MK would surely give us the confidence to get the rest of the points needed..
As Gillingham fans have said they are woeful at present - but Walsall despite being top are oddly the best team they could play as they've lost 4 on the bounce.
Bradford v Accrington - it would be the most Bradford thing ever to lose this - but i can't see it
Tranmere v Fleetwood is really a must win for Tranmere - a win pulls Harrogate right into the mix, however a defeat and Tranmere are probably relegation favourites IF Carlisle win at Newport.
Newport v Carlisle. Newport can afford to lose this, Carlisle can't - IF Carlisle loses they've had no new manager bounce at all and Carlisle fans* will continue with their Clive Dunn (Dads army) impersonations;- saying "Don't Panic" whilst literally shitting themselves about what might be to come.

What do i think will happen??? I think Tranmere and either Gillingham or Harrogate will go down IF Carlisle win (and Tranmere lose) midweek. IF Carlisle draw or lose I think it will be Tranmere and 1 from Carlisle, Harrogate and Gillingham. Morecambe I think will get enough goals out of Dallas and Garner to stay up.

*apart from hellogregory who is a realist and has been panicking since pre-season i think.

Chipmunx, I’m usually pessimistic, but if by some fluke we did beat Fleetwood then that would boost our chances of not going down. Your post seems to suggest that regardless of the result of Rovers v Fleetwood, we drop?
Of course we’re not going to beat the Cods anyway have lost all three previous competitive games

I work with a Tranmere fan - his view on the Tranmere team at present makes hellogregory look like the most optomistic person in the world.

Even Carlisle and Morecambe beat Fleetwood.

Recently they haven’t been turning up against the dross at the bottom. Its a golden opportunity for Tranmere to pick up 3 points.

Wish you had never sacked Graham Alexander now?

Alexander is almost the anthesis of the Destroy and Exit Manager (as per Athletico Mince) every club he left in relatively good shape - Scunthorpe being the standout in exceptional shape. None of the clubs he has managed is now in a higher league position than when he left - remarkable really - has he got bad breath or terrible flatulance or something?
