I’d still not rule you out, you still remind me a lot of Carlisle in 2000/2001 when Ian atkins dealt with all the same off field type of crap Adam’s has and worked on nothing for ages and is looking doomed.

But you have one thing on Carlisle and I’d say tranmere and that is ‘unity’ a united front against a poor owner and numerous roadblocks thrown in front of you.

We won’t get that at Carlisle, it will be tight your certainly in trouble but if Adam’s can somehow build the teamwork, unity and a two fingers up at the rest approach into his squad it maybe could help.

The only issue against that as harsh as it sounds is your small crowds, that season we could still take 1,000 to Rochdale watch us be hammered 6-0 but most of that 1,000 fans backed the team all game then get 6,000 odd the next home game vs Blackpool and that togetherness dragged out a shock win……….Morecambe fans are gonna have to make noise from the lower numbers

I hope that whoever drops out of the league this season does so on footballing reasons. Of the sides I've seen play this season, the Shrimps are not in the bottom two, have seen three worse than them including my own team.

Tranmere co-chair. Mark Palios has broken his recent silence, by a response to fans letters, which has been put onto Facebook. The following are the two key points for me;

Mark was hospitalised over Christmas; no more details but he has previously had cancer.

The money we are paying for players wages takes us significantly close to the budget cap and it is the most we have ever paid. While he doesn't categorically rule out any incomings, the implication is this is unlikely. The fact that Adkins invested so much in players that are useless (Davison) toxic (Finley) or unnecessary (Norman) and failed to hold any funds back for this window are an indictment of exactly how poor his judgement has been.

Good win for us today.

One win doesn’t change my view that we’re 100% down. The team needs to prove that it can win 2 or 3 games back to back for me to reassess my views on that. But I’m hoping it can at least be the start of the new players settling in and hopefully improving us over time ahead of our massive task next season of trying to get promoted back to the football league.

Fancied you to win that one today, one of my main criticisms of Wild's management was getting overly wound up about certain bigger or 'local' games and I reckon he especially would've wanted to win that one given how he fared against you while he was here.

Good win for us today which extends our buffer over the bottom two to 10 points. Realistically looking at needing 19 points from 20 games. Three of the next four games at home with the away game at Newport. Real chance to back this up now and get ourselves a good proportion of the way there.

Carlisle off the bottom and they close the gap to 5 points. Big confidence boosting win. Morecambe get a very harsh red card against Colchester and slip to defeat. With their transfer embargo, it's starting to look very bleak for them in terms of staying up. Tranmere get a point against Gillingham, but it's not enough you feel. Newport are slipping closer to trouble. Accrington get a big win at Crewe. Harrogate get 1 point from 2 games but no goals scored. Swindon are dragging themselves clear with a few wins and we have a new entrant in the bottom 8 in Gillingham. A fair fall from grace after their lofty pre-season expectations.

Not yet but I would say that Swindon, Grimsby, Newport, Colchester clump of games is the last chance saloon period

RESURGENT Carlisle Utd.

You’ve got our fans to a tee here.

This is what we do (apart from me, Dave and a few others), one win and suddenly we’ve turned the corner and people *cough* carver start getting carried away talking about staying up, mid table, playoffs, finals, promotions. Then when we lose the following game they quickly realise the win was a flash in the pan. But they’ll do the same next time we win whenever that may be.

As I keep saying, we can win a game every now and then, maybe even every month. But until we can prove that we can string a few wins together we are 100% going down. We haven’t strung even two together for best part of two years.

Can still get a total 81 points so automatic promotion is still possible, stranger things have happened..

You’ve had your Glass moment…..lightning doesn't strike twice so they say….you will probably stay up, but that’s as far as redemption goes I think.

Thought anything tonight would have been a bonus but a big game for us at Newport on Saturday, the exact sort of game we've been shite in all season...

We had the glass moment numerous times.

In the early 90’s we were dreadful and survived as aldershot and Maidstone went bust, we had the glass moment, we weee shocking the following year and survived because Chester had a nut job madman in charge thinking he could adopt American football tactics to our game, year after that we had a lose is relegated game at Shrewsbury away and won, in conference we were 3-1 down on penalties in play offs with 2 pens left each and somehow won.

Lot of others as well in time I’ve followed them, if a club could somehow scrape a totally undeserved survival by fluke it will be us

Yes theres big moments for sure with a club history like yours…. Been around too long for there not to be, but the Glass moment was utterly historical for the time and situation, nothing like that will ever happen again…..I don’t think you could have made odds up for that outcome !!

I personally found a moment 4-5 years later felt as big if not bigger than the glass moment but it died a death because one week later we did get relegated.

Had to win all our last games to survive went to Mansfield 3-2 to Carlisle with 10 second of game to go, Mansfield get penalty. The pen kick goes in we go down, last touch of the match was our keeper’s hand tipping it past the post.

Always felt that was bigger because you have an enormous low when penalty given to ridiculous high, Glass game was a momentous moment but the game was hard to sit through and moment sort’ve for me was a 50-50 high because you were on dregs all week before it…..but for a neutral I think only the Aguero moment may come close.

Although this talk is what I do want from Carlisle this last half of season if we go down it’s with some sortve fight and battle and come end of season see some more of these things

The Jimmy Glass thing is cringeworthy.

Finishing 2nd bottom of the football league is not something that should be celebrated years later. On the day yes, but then should be quickly left in the past and forgot about.

It’s stuff like this, the glorification of failure that I believe contributes to the losers culture through this club.

When as a player you’re walking round a club with constant reminders of the Jimmy Glass moment as if it’s some sort of achievement, it sets the standards of what is acceptable at this club.

I know what you mean. Surely the club celebrate getting to the first tier more than the Glass moment though?

It's a bit like our National League win last season. I can understand some of the younger lads who maybe came of age with the club at that level getting all excited, but for us older ones it was just a case of restoring some sort of parity, not worth getting too excited over...even if we were battering teams virtually every week.
