Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Well I sortve had us at both inept but for different reasons. I mean your levels of inept are not near ours which soar so high we’d reach mars, but yours is down to the fact it’s 100% obvious it needs a managerial change and they simply won’t do it and now are leaving it almost too late.

Ours of course is because twice we left it too late, allowed other manager to bring in whole squads then decide to sack on transfer deadline day almost with entire sides suited to previous managers.

I don’t think any club ever at this level has shown these levels of total ineptness, the only one close was the Chester chairman who appointed himself manager using American football tactics…….even he at least by now had realise he was a moron and had went sensible

I wonder what the most expensive squad ever to be relegated out of the football league is.

I think Carlisle will stay up and instead, Tranmere will drop. I hope that isn't the case. Really enjoyed my away trip to Tranmere. They're a great club and a great bunch of fans.

It looks bad for both teams but then that would mean Morecambe somehow staying up and I really can't see that either.
Either way one of those 3 teams is going to be very lucky indeed.

I think they have the best manager of the 3 and will grind out enough. The fact they put 4 past Fleetwood and their new striker got 2 is a good sign.

I'm going out on a limb to say this appointment isn't as bad as some think. Ok, basing it on stats, but Hughes Bradford team in 22/23 were 4th in possession, 8th in xG, 4th in successful passes. Yes, the summer window in 2023 was a disaster and I don't think Hughes or the club in general recovered from the PO loss and the infamous Banks for Platt sub.

But he's experienced and the fact is, he's the only manager to get Bradford in the play-offs in 5 seasons. He doesn't have to recruit and can focus entirely on getting results. Does he keep Carlisle up given how disjointed the whole squad is? I'm not so sure, but this looks bizarre, but it could work.

This is the part of Mark Palios' club statement released today with regard to the manager. It has not gone down well but in a nutshell Adkins stays until the takeover. That seems to be moving backwards too. It feels like Rovers have secured one of the basket-case relegation slots with this approach...

Fans do not need me to tell them that results recently have been unacceptable and, as always happens when a Club has a bad run, that has led to calls from some for the manager to be sacked. I said previously that I am not scared to make difficult decisions, but I have decided to stick with Nigel as our manager. In the current circumstances that may be seen as a contentious choice because it will fail to satisfy those demanding that “something needs to be done”, so I will try to explain why.

Firstly, there is a perception that changing a manager in mid-season usually results in an uplift in form. This is actually not correct. Sometimes when a new manager does come in there is an uptick in form for a short period of time, but the statistics show that that would be just as likely to happen if no change was made at all.

In Nigel’s case, we have a manager with huge experience, a track record of many successes in his career, and a genuine passion for a club he has supported all his life. He is not a naïve young manager who has never faced tough times, and he still believes he can turn things around, so I cannot see what is to be gained by gambling on a less experienced/successful manager, with no real connection to the Club and who would be brought in to manage a squad that he has not chosen. Nor would it change the number of players unavailable through injury. I realise that not everyone will agree with this approach, but I have to do what I think is right for the Club.

It is most likely to be 2 from Carlisle, Tranmere and Morecambe. The three clubs are currently in the worst of it. However, anyone from probably Newport down are far from being out of the woods. The likes of them, Gillingham, Barrow, Harrogate look like needing 4 or so wins with a few draws thrown in. Looking at the recent form of those clubs I would suggest a couple might well struggle for those 4 wins. If they don't gain them quickly the pressure will soon mount up. We have those 4 clubs to play during the next 7 fixtures. A few flukey wins for us will liven it up.

Good win today after looking like being dragged a few points closer recently. Realistically 12 points clear and a good number of teams in between as well.

Bedeau was a cracking player for Morecambe ,was shit on by the owner who got rid of every player at the end of the season ,didn't deserve the abuse he got of some Morecambe fans today

If we don’t beat you guys on Tuesday I wanna join this party so our season can at least be interesting. Shit football, shit results, as bad as we’ve ever been in our 20 years. And we’re 14th still in with a sniff of the play-offs, what a crap, tinpot league this is.

That blatant foul was a classic orange card for me , so a yellow not a red

Bedeau has been fantastic this season, didn't know anything about him but do now.

If you call trying to kick the opposition off the pitch playing well then good riddance, hope you go down.

The bottom 3 stay as they are after none of them picked up any points in the last week. One of them is going to stay up somehow and it'll be because they are the least worst team, as they all look hopeless right now. Harrogate and Accy stay in touch as they can't seem to find results at the moment and Gillingham are slipping worryingly close to the drop as their form also remains horrendous.

There was better news for Barrow and Newport, as they picked up big wins to move themselves further away from danger.

Tuesday 11th February
Barrow
v Milton Keynes Dons
Bradford City v Accrington Stanley
Newport County
v Carlisle United
Tranmere Rovers
v Fleetwood Town
Walsall v Gillingham

Saturday 15th February
Carlisle United
v Fleetwood Town
Cheltenham Town v Barrow
Gillingham
v Crewe Alexandra
Harrogate Town v Swindon Town
Morecambe v Accrington Stanley
Newport County
v Bradford City
Tranmere Rovers v Milton Keynes Dons

Big set of midweek fixtures, 6 of the strugglers in action, including a big one between Newport and Carlisle. Tranmere and Barrow both have favourable games against mid-table teams, but whether they get anything is another matter.

The big one on Saturday is Morecambe v Accrington. A Morecambe win there would really put the cat amongst the pigeons.
